396 Chapter 396: He Will Come Back

They ate quietly. Lisa watched her now and then, relieved to see her eating.

Since Nathalia came back, Lisa had been coming to stay with Nathalia every evening after work, cooking for her and talking with her when she needed, making sure that she was fed and rested.

She couldn't bear the thought of Nathalia being on her own without Spencer at home and no one else to look after her. However, she had to admit that she was amazed by the strength that Nathalia had shown. She followed the physician's suggestions, and as long as it was good for the baby, she would do it.

She had stayed home all the time except going to the hospital for regular check-ups, away from all the madness that was going on in the world.

She never complained when she was vomiting almost every morning and sometimes a few times a day for a few weeks. She talked to the baby with love. She read storybooks and played cheerful music for him/her.

It was the knowledge that she had to make sure the baby grew healthy and strong and that Spencer would come back to them that had kept her carrying on with a smile.

Lisa understood that only Nathalia herself knew how hurting it was. She could do nothing but look after her and simply be with her.

"Nathalia, your priority is to take care of yourself and the baby. Don't worry about anything else, alright." Lisa said gently.

Nathalia could sense that something was wrong. "What's the matter, Lisa?"

Lisa bit her lips and hesitated for a bit. "Sue, your mother-in-law, hasn't been well. She seems to..." She didn't want to go on, regretting mentioning it.

"What happened to mum? Lisa? Tell me please." Nathalia asked anxiously. She hadn't had the energy to care for anyone or anything else since she came back and had not heard from Sue since.

Her face went pale, and tears ran down her face. Has mum lost her memory again? It's her way of escaping reality. It's too hard for her to deal with.

Sophie had just finished her homework in the study and came out to hear her mother mentioning Sue. "Mum, Nathalia doesn't need to know that." She said, worried about Nathalia.

Personally, Sophie didn't like Sue much, especially her attitude towards Nathalia. How changeable it was! And whenever things go wrong, she just cries and shouts and makes things even worse.

Lisa heaved a sigh and said helplessly. "She will know eventually." As a mother herself, Lisa could understand how Sue felt. The pain of losing a child could only be understood by mothers.

Sue had lived her life for her husband and son, and especially her son. Spencer was her whole life.

Lisa hesitated. She called the family physician, and only after receiving the confirmation from him did she agree. "I will go with you."

With the protection of the bodyguards and the company of Lisa and Sophie, Nathalia went to the hospital, Sue was at. As soon as they got out of the car, a group of journalists gathered around them. "Mrs. Nathalia Davidson, are you here to visit your mother-in-law?"

"I've heard that she was very sick. Is it true?"

"What took you so long to come to visit her?"

"I'm sorry that Mr. Spencer Davidson has passed away, but why hasn't there been any news about the funeral?"

Ever since the incident at the party, every media had been following the Davidson family closely. Yet to their disappointment, they had hardly been able to interview any of them except Matt, who was still going to work normally, but he had not said a word to them.

They were very surprised and excited to see Nathalia today, and of course, they couldn't afford to lose such a great chance.

Nathalia didn't intend to interact with any of them, but when she heard someone said Spencer was dead, those words stabbed her heart like a sharp knife, and she retorted sternly, "Spencer is still alive. He's just got lost. He will come back!" She almost screamed at them.

The crowd looked at each other and thought, he must be dead now. It's been days since the accident.

Nathalia glared at them as if she had guessed their thoughts. "We all know that Spencer is still alive. We are waiting for him to come home."

"Mrs. Nathalia Davidson, I understand that you must be heart-broken, but you have to accept the truth."

"Spencer is alive. This is the truth. I will wait till he comes back." Nathalia said seriously and left the crowd without another word.

Sue was staying on the top floor where the VIP rooms were. Matt was there too. He was sitting outside the room. "Nathalia, how are you?" he was surprised to see Nathalia. "Sue is very emotional now, and she won't see anyone except dad."

"Dad?" Nathalia was rather surprised and confused. She had no idea about the situation at all.

Matt looked well and seemed to be in good spirits. "Go in, but just don't get too close to her."

Nathalia looked in from the window of the door. Sue was lying on the bed, looking drained and pale, her eyes were wide open, gazing at Curt, who was seated by the bed, with one hand clenching the end of his sleeve as if she was scared that he would run away.

Curt didn't look well at all. He sat there quietly, and as soon as he heard the door open, he turned around, and his face lit up at the sight of Nathalia. "Nathalia, come on in."
