Chapter 86 - It's a Secret

"Big Sister…"

Liu Xiaodan's eyes grew wide as he heard those words. However, the rest of the entities around him weren't even surprised. It seemed that they could tell, but he wasn't really able to do so. For now, he would only watch what would happen next.

The girl kept on watching the swirling articles. She then found the jar and popped the cap open. The single eye came out and into her palm. It was undeniably her eye, but seeing it made her really angry.

The wind grew freezing, and Liu Xiaodan could feel the tossing and turning of the stagnant air. In the end, the woman lifted her chin and stared at Liu Xiaodan and the child.

"You… how did you find it?"

"Your sister? I watched a movie in the audio-visual room. She came to watch…"

"Movie…"

The girl squashed the deflated eye, making Tang Mingming cringe out of sight. She dropped the jar and had its crisp sound echo all over the floor. She then picked up the box and pressed it against her face. "Big Sister…"

As if a gust of warm wind came from somewhere, the temperature in the area grew more tolerable. Liu Xiaodan noticed how the bags shook, and the other woman crawled out from them. As she looked up at the girl in front of her, a pleasant warmth drafted into the place.

The disposal-shoot woman's image was changing into what Liu Xiaodan didn't think he would see. It was a female officer, in the same uniform as Song Qixi. The woman got to her feet and then turned to face the males. She blinked her eyes and regarded Liu Xiaodan with them for a few seconds.

The faceless woman soon regained her beautiful face slowly. She started looking like that woman featured in the articles, one of the most outstanding bosses in the clerical departments of the prison.

She then walked towards the girl and reached out her hand to her. "Sorry, I made you wait. Let's go home?"

"Big Sister!" The girl put the box down and got to her feet. In a sudden change, she was now a girl in a pretty white dress. They looked like twin beauties of different generations. More likely, that was why they ended up with such fate in a dark place.

They held hands and didn't even spare another glance at the four males they left behind. Walking into the light, the two figures seemed to have found peace after decades of separation. The things Liu Xiaodan brought vanished, as well as the shards of the jar and the suffocating aura from both ghosts.

"It's the doctors of this sick hall. I can see them clearly." Guangru looked up at his father. "She hated the doctors since they were the ones who harmed her and separated her from her sister. They all ended up dying."

"I can feel all of them as well." Liu Xiaodan sighed. "I can't help all of them if I had to dig about their backgrounds one by one. Now that the one oppressing them has gone away, they should be able to find their own peace. Revenge would be unattainable; she's already dead."

"You just eat them all then." Tang Mingming turned to Liu Xiaodan. "If we leave them here in despair, they would only grow stronger. It's best to stop them now, don't you think?"

"I can do that, but they will never find peace in the miasma." Liu Xiaodan hummed. "We should probably spread the word that they could leave this place in peace now. No one would be stopping them… or eating them soon."

As if feeling a strange gaze, he then looked down at Guangru who was looking up at him with a smile. He then raised his brows. "What is it, Guangru?"

The child only shook his head before giggling. "It's a secret, Baba."

Liu Xiaodan was intrigued by what the child was thinking, but he decided to ask about it later.

He then looked around and hummed before turning to Tang Mingming again. "I won't eat them, Ming. They might end up becoming a problem to the sick hall, but I wished they would be sane enough to look for their lights now."

The other ghost just shrugged. He wasn't going to eat them, too. Moreover, the sick hall wasn't part of his territory. He could only go here because of Liu Xiaodan.

Song Qixi didn't know why the cell was empty. Even the warden who put him there was baffled. There were no signs of the lock being tampered; neither did he have the tendency to escape.

"Look for any clues where he is. Scour the video logs to find him or even just a shadow of him." Song Qixi hummed before frowning at the empty cell. "He shouldn't be far."

"I don't know what to do about this now." Liu Xiaodan scratched his head. He was hiding in the shadows. Without any noises giving him away, they wouldn't think he was there.

"Baba, let's go inside the other cell."

Guangru didn't even wait for his approval before sending him there. The next moment after a blink, he was inside a cell.

He didn't know which one he was in, but Guangru was sitting on his l.a.p. He just combed his fingers through the silky wet locks before spotting lights hitting the bottom of the solitary cell.

From inside, he could hear the voices of the conversing officers. Soon, a loud bang came from the door he was in. It came from inside so it must have been Guangru. Liu Xiaodan was shocked and had no idea how to react when Song Qixi opened the door and stared down at him.

"Liu Xiaodan… why are you here?"

The father raised his hand to block the stark light of the flashlight. "I… escaped the sick hall." He then eyed at Song Qixi through the gap of his hand. "Sergeant, did you ask a woman to speak with me earlier?"

The mention of Chu Youlan made Song Qixi smile; however, the smile on his face was different… as if acknowledging someone's cunning move. He then shook his head. "Let's talk again in the morning. Just stay here for the night."

He took out a book from his vest and placed it in front of Liu Xiaodan inside the cell. "Good night."

With that, he closed the door. Liu Xiaodan's mood suddenly plummeted as soon as the darkness clad the entire room. The expression on that man's face just wouldn't leave his mind.

That was the first time Song Qixi somewhat revealed a sinister look on his face like he had been masking it all the while. Perhaps he thought Liu Xiaodan couldn't see him clearly.

"That man is bad." Guangru made himself comfortable in the l.a.p of his father. "Guangru doesn't like him."

"Baba doesn't like him either." Liu Xiaodan sighed. It was good to discover things early. He had been so blinded by rage and consumption that he almost accepted that man as a trusted person. However, he still needed to converse with him for the news outside the prison.

Li Heilong and that woman were already bad news to him, and yet he had no idea if the matter with Li Feng had already been settled. He was also worried that he had given him something more than a blood-related disease.

The child could feel the frustration building inside his father's mind. He only reached out to pat his face, and the man smiled down. Seeing the child reminded him that he was not going through this all alone.

It was the truth though. Guangru was all he had now… now that he left everything behind because of this pitiful child.

Li Feng suddenly found himself awake in the middle of the night. It was as if he was jolted awake by his sense of danger. Last night, someone had already tried to kill him. Would he not have a night where he would be sleeping peacefully?

However, when he looked around, no one was there. He could somewhat make out the shadows of the guards outside his ward, and so he must rest assured that no one would be coming from that side.

Then, he turned to the curtained glass wall. Last time, some men rappelled from the top of the building to get to him.

Li Feng tested his legs and limped on his way to the glass walls. He was using a pair of crutches instead of a wheelchair… simply because he wanted to know what consuming a ghost had done to him.

It's just that when he pulled the curtain back, almost all sorts of spirits were peering from that crack he made.

Li Feng only jolted in place, but he wasn't terrified by the mere sight of it. He was more terrified by the reason why they were gathered around his room. Moreover, they were not even trying to enter.

"Anyone wants to explain why?" Li Feng whispered as he placed a hand on his belly. His stomach wasn't churning… so chances were… he could be in a dream. As for why he was pulled to a dream by these things…

"The king..."

"King?"

"We want… see… the king..."

Multiple whispers flooded his ears, but he could only make out a few words. However, it had a full thought… just that it wasn't making sense. What 'king' were they talking about?

Pain then rattled against the forearm connected to the hand on his tummy. Li Feng then took a look before realizing that a small hole was showing on his elbow pit. It was as if someone was injecting something in his veins.

"What?"

He probed the hole and didn't seem to draw blood. However, it was increasingly becoming painful. Moreover, his heart was starting to beat rather fast… like he was going into cardiac arrest if it continued.

Snap!

Li Feng felt himself starting from where he actually woke up earlier. However, due to his heightened senses, he could tell that at least three people were around him. He opened his eyes and caught sight of three nurses.

"Mr. Li? You're awake?" One of them reached out to take a cloth to dab on his sweaty forehead. "You're getting hyperthermia all of a sudden. It's probably from the blood transferred."

"No, I was very fine… nothing like this should happen..." Li Feng tried to move, but he figured he was held down by the two other nurses. His eyes shot his holed elbow pit and saw that they seemed to be transferring some kind of plasma to him. "What's that? It hurts… it burns..."

"This is for you to adjust to the new blood, sir," the same nurse spoke, but she didn't seem to be worried. Her smile was plastered, feigning its genuineness.

It was then that Li Feng realized that they were doing something else. He started struggling, but the two nurses managed to hold him down. They didn't even need a Mr. Strongman to help them. Li Feng's eyes widened before he cried out, "Help—!"

The nurse then clamped her hand on his mouth to muffle his noises. "Shhh, let it happen in your sleep, Mr. Li..." A vicious smile curled her lips. "In the morning, you'll never wake up ever again."
