Li Feng continued to kick, but the two nurses were trained operatives that had carried more weights than he ever had. Even if he tried to take away his head from her hold, he couldn't do so from the grip she had on his face.
Tears flowed from his eyes as he realized that he was in this kind of juncture again. Soon, he stopped moving as an attempt to slow down the rate of the strange serum being transferred to him.
From the gap in the talking nurse's silhouette, Li Feng could see the curtains covering the glass walls getting drawn slowly. The spirits were all grinning as if they were all waiting for him to pass away. Was he the king? King of what?
He then started feeling shortness of breath and tunneling vision. The heart machine was connected to another machine that made it produce false readings. The sound of the beeping would lull Li Feng to sleep.
Piak! Piak!
The loud sound of high heels resounded outside the room. The nurses only flicked their eyes to take a quick look at the door, but they knew that the two guards were still there. Aside from them, no one should be able to get inside freely.
However, the sound continued to echo closer and closer... until it was already resounding in the room.
The talking nurse twitched. When she turned to the mother and the cousin that the sprayed with strong sedatives, no one should be walking inside the room.
It's just that... from the darkest part of the room with no strong lights came out a person with long hair. They were clad in a white long coat, and their face was hidden behind a white face mask.
Their clear eyes stared at the three nurses before they hooked a finger behind the mask and lowered it. "Bring them to me..."
A mist of a black creature emerged from the person. The nurses didn't know what they were up against, but the nurse holding Li Feng's legs produced a blade from her concealed hip strap. She then lunged at the person, but the black mist swiped at her body.
"What is this?!" She gasped as she felt like she was being corroded from inside. Deep inside her mind, she felt fear and that her entire body was jolting. She then convulsed on the spot and peed herself before collapsing on the ground.
"Shit." The other two nurses left Li Feng alone since he was more or less unconscious. They attacked the person together, but the black mist split in two. One swipe through their bodies each, and they both convulsed like something was jolting them from inside.
Three dead nurses were now on the ground while the person walked closer to Li Feng. They reached out a slender hand and tried to feel Li Feng's c.h.e.s.t. "Hop, can you do something about this?"
The black mist twisted and turned, and then the person closed their eyes. They then stood up and aimed their open palm at the three nurses on the ground. "Gather the broken souls."
Soon, a spray of white mist came from the person's breath. They then got on the side of the bed and leaned down to close the distance between their face and Li Feng's. A hand pressed on Li Feng's cheeks to make him open his mouth a little.
A blush ran across the person's cheeks. However, they knew that if they hesitated, Li Feng might die. They then sealed their lips against Li Feng's and breathed the white mist into him.
The person quickly retreated as the darker miasma shrouded Li Feng. Li Feng's vital signs improved sooner before the black mist embraced the person in a white coat. The red cheeks were still there, but they decided not to make too much out of it.
"The dybbuk is extremely powerful. Perhaps even my training wouldn't be enough to suppress its power. Could it be that its hunger was the one which caused Li Feng to be dragged into the nightmare?"
The person then ran their finger on their lips… "I'm sorry, Li Feng. I should have met you after I become Madam Qiao."
…
Loud chattering came to Li Feng's ears. When he opened his eyes, he could vaguely make out his mother's voice screaming at his father again.
He moved his head to see Mian Bingbing hurling her fists on Li Heilong's c.h.e.s.t, the man barely catching her hands. Li Yunru and Mian Tianyu were also there, with the cousin sister crying against her wrists.
Li Feng tried to get up, but he figured that his drips were all removed already. The blanket also seemed to be raised so high. When he got to sit up, he looked at his arms and saw no marks of the needles, his legs had also seemed to be healed fully.
His eyes flickered. Wasn't he being killed last night? What happened?
"How could you… those guards are useless!" Mian Bingbing only crashed against Li Heilong's c.h.e.s.t. "My baby… how could you take my baby away?!"
"Bingbing..." Mian Tianyu sighed, rubbing the back of the crying Li Yunru. "You shouldn't blame all of this on Mr. Li."
"My baby… huhu… Feng'er is—!
Mian Bingbing flung her hand to point at Li Feng and glanced in his direction to make Li Heilong guiltier… but she saw him sitting up and staring wide-eyed at them.
In an instant, Mian Bingbing fainted. She collapsed on Li Heilong's c.h.e.s.t again and to the couch… because the father didn't manage to catch her. Even Li Heilong was shock frozen by horror!
Mian Tianyu caught on their shock and looked at Li Feng's direction. He then gasped aloud, "Feng'er?!'
"Stop freaking me out! Why are you looking at me like I'm a ghost?!" Li Feng's voice even cracked as he yelled. Even he was terrified by their reaction, more likely when his mother fainted and his father was shocked stupid.
He was already panicking every time the miasma would heal him. Now that he knew that he was going to die last night, waking up to his mother behaving like he died made him feel like a monster. "Please say something!"
Li Yunru shot her gaze at Li Feng, and a terribly frightened scream escaped her lungs. Even Li Feng couldn't help but scream with her.
It was then when Li Heilong quickly attended to Mian Bingbing and laid her down properly. He then hurried to Li Feng and grabbed his son's face, examining his eyes, neck, and even his hands. "Feng… what… how?"
"Daddy, tell me it's just a few minutes—"
"It's been six hours!"
"HOLY SHIT!" Li Feng burrowed his face into his hands. He actually started crying. Since when did he become immune to death? Why was that every time he was bound to die, he tended to get saved by things that he couldn't explain?
"What am I going to do? What am I going to do? Am I legally dead? Am I zombie now?" Li Feng mumbled to himself, He only felt his father's hand on his back, realizing that even the people around him couldn't explain what was happening.
Then, he had a wild idea!
Li Feng unintentionally grabbed his father like how his mother would do it. "Daddy, I want to see Liu Xiaodan! Whether he's bedridden or dying, I don't care!"
…
The clock ticked at every second that passed. Liu Xiaodan was left alone in the conference room to meet with Song Qixi, but the sergeant was running late. Moreover, he had heard a few whispers from the nurses that passed by earlier.
It seemed that the city was racked by the news of Li Feng's assassination. He was reported deceased earlier, and Liu Xiaodan didn't know how to react.
Ever since Li Feng fed on that strange nurse ghost, he could vaguely feel his presence. Liu Xiaodan was sure that Li Feng was still alive… even at this moment. It's just that last night… he did feel like the man almost died again. He had no idea what gave him those 'nourishment'.
Moreover, he couldn't see anything when Li Feng already closed his eyes. When he tried to materialize again, Guangru stopped him. It seemed that the presence of the white-coat woman alarmed Guangru to not let his father dive into the fray.
Right now, Liu Xiaodan was only waiting on his chair, fingers laced before his face. Tang Mingming was tapping on the table like playing drums while Yi Junhai was hiding in Liu Xiaodan's shadow.
"Oh, they're here!" Tang Mingming stopped his movements and only leaned on the table, with his face on his palms. He smiled in the direction of the door.
"Hm?" Liu Xiaodan glanced in Tang Mingming's direction before looking up at the door. He was even surprised when he could suddenly map Li Feng's presence. It was rushing to where he was.
Soon, footsteps echoed in the hallway before someone slammed the door open. Li Feng then glared at Liu Xiaodan, his nose flaring in anger.
"Liu Xiaodan!"
He angrily stomped inside the room and slammed at the table with both palms. "You need… to stop it!"
Li Feng then realized that someone else was there when he heard Tang Mingming yelp from the slam. He stared at the pretty boy, such a very feminine-looking male. "You, get out. I don't need you here."
Tang Mingming stared back before gasping. "No way!" He then went to grab Liu Xiaodan's arm and hugged. "I go where Daddy is!"
Liu Xiaodan raised his brows, surprised at that. He then scratched his head before gazing at Li Feng again. "Let him stay, Li Feng."
"Daddy...?" Li Feng squinted and scrutinized Tang Mingming's looks. "He's too old to be another child of yours—"
"Oh, this is a men-only prison." Tang Mingming then tore his face with a rather vicious yet enticing coquettish grin. "How pure of you to think that I'm a child?" He then winked at Li Feng. "If you're interested to be my Daddy, too, you know what to say.'
Li Feng visibly shuddered at the thought of him getting into unconventional things. He then shook his head and used both hands to hold onto it. "Liu Xiaodan… I know you just broke up with Chuan Nayi, but… this is… too much of a jump..."
A sigh only escaped from Liu Xiaodan's lips. This zombie was lucky that he didn't want to throw a punch, or else Liu Xiaodan wouldn't have waited for him to speak. "Li Feng, you didn't come here to chat, right? Else, you wouldn't come on too strong—"
"Why aren't you denying anything?!" Li Feng suddenly remembered what he came for halfway Liu Xiaodan's speech. He ended up screaming as well.
"You clearly lost it. Calm down."
Outside the conference, the guards were wondering why they were having that kind of conversation. Song Qixi frowned while Li Heilong only cleared his throat. The father spoke to the sergeant, "I thought Liu Xiaodan is alone in the room."
"He should be..." Song Qixi tried to hide his smile. 'Unless he's carrying more than one ghost now.'
