Li Feng sighed again, putting the photo back down at the table.
"The route's opening is somewhere at the back of the dorm, leading to the bottom staircase. We can only enter around ten at night after the guards pass by during their last walking patrol."
The man continued to speak as Hung Guangjian took notes. "Then, after crawling in and out, the girls will be waiting for us and will walk us up to the agreed floor. Some of them will be distracting the landlady and her cleaners while we sneak up."
Li Feng only laughed out as he recalled those things. In theory, they sounded like sneaky rats; in reality, they just do things normally as if it was acceptable for them to be there. "We never got caught since we don't really run into anyone else.
"Then, we leave around four in the morning or earlier. It's the same way out. It's actually harder to sneak in and out the Boy's Dorm." Li Feng leaned on his chair. "I don't know why it's easier."
Hung Guangjian wanted to massage his forehead and start lecturing these college students. However, it was not the time, and he only had one student in front of him. He reviewed the notes and then asked Li Feng again. "Aside from you and Jiang Hou, who else had used this route before?"
Silence answered him as Li Feng flinched at the question. He then took a deep breath and answered, "Shao Yi, Huang Kun, Ren Ditian, Xie Canrong, Yun Lui, and Sun Manxuan. The rest didn't go because they didn't feel like playing with random women.
"Then again, aside from Shao Yi, everyone else who had used it is not in Ting anymore."
Of course, he did exclude the three that had died already and himself that got kicked out.
"So there's a very high chance for Shao Yi to be the one who was with them?" Hung Guangjian asked again, and Li Feng nodded.
He wouldn't say it, but Shao Yi was very aggressive over what he owned like Huang Kun. There's no way someone would touch his Ruyi as long as he's alive.
Hung Guangjian nodded in response before saying, "If I contact Ms. Chuan, would she be able to confirm the things you said? About the route?"
"Please don't drag Nayi into this anymore. She already suffered enough." Li Feng waved his hand. "Moreover, stupid Huang—I mean, Huang Kun kept on saying that Nayi escapes every time he comes to their dorm. She probably wouldn't be able to say much about this."
"Among your group of friends, is she the closest to you?" Hung Guangjian then asked.
"Closest? We're not close at all. I only had the chance to talk to her because I volunteered to make warding bracelets for her." Li Feng recalled his first successful conversation with Chuan Nayi. "Other times, she would only deflect me easily."
Hung Guangjian nodded again. "You arrived with your cousin, was it? Master Mian, do you mind me talking with her as well?"
Mian Tianyu nodded, interested in what she had to say about this secret route.
Li Yunru was fetched from outside and entered the room, with a big smile to greet the detective she bugged as well. She sat next to Li Feng and smiled at the detective.
Unlike Li Feng, Li Yunru was more recognized by Hung Guangjian. She was that girl who kept on bugging officers about strange cases that ended up tied to the paranormal. He returned her smile with a little one before asking her seriously.
"Yunru, tell me... is it true? The secret route inside the girl's dorm?" Hung Guangjian huffed. "Tell me everything about it."
"Secret route?"
Li Yunru flinched and looked at Li Feng before looking at Hung Guangjian. She hummed a little before twitching in epiphany. She then laughed out. "Ah! THAT secret route! En, en, there's really a rat hole from outside that leads up to the dorms.
"It's not really a secret to the girls because it's quite a lottery for the famous. Moreover, if you convinced the baddest bitches in the dorms, they can let you on a night with your choice!"
Li Yunru was smiling, but her smile fell as she saw the expressions on the males' faces: two were frowning from the shock while one was stricken with confusion.
She cleared her throat and explained. "Having strange and inner-circle-only activities is not a surprise among college girls. No matter how covered it is, it will still spill out because girls don't get greedy over... ehem-loose-ehem boys."
Li Yunru tried her best not to embarrass Li Feng, but she was failing... judging from the look on his face. "So whenever they come up, it's not a secret who's going to whose room.
"It's actually a team effort from almost everyone in the dorm. You can not-join, but you can't snitch." Li Yunru then took out her phone and fiddled with it.
"It gets announced through text when a group is coming, and everyone will plan how to keep the hallways quiet. Not only the baddest are in it, but almost everyone is...
"Because of this."
Li Yunru handed her phone to the detective. He took a look and flinched a little. With a head shake, he sighed and finally massaged his forehead. Hung Guangjian then sighed and gestured at her with her phone at hand. "What exactly is this?"
The girl then chuckled. "Bribe. Like cash fed to us to keep our mouths shut."
"Are they... for this instance, does Li Feng know about this?"
"...no."
"You do realize that this could be another... damn, what kind of school is Ting?" Hung Guangjian placed the phone down, and Li Feng actually grabbed it before Li Yunru could. He really wished he didn't.
Li Yunru collected the phone from the humiliated Li Feng next to the disappointed Mian Tianyu. She then answered, "It's not really the school.
"It's the dorm management that deals and bargains with this kind of thing. Despite the existence of this, no one seemed to have the audacity to use these against them."
The detective cleared his throat and looked at his notes. If it was true that ghosts fed on negative places, he wouldn't doubt the kind of ghosts Ting had in their dorms. He then sighed again. "Let's move on from that. So aside from unconventional ventures, are there other reasons that girls would let males into the girl's dorm?"
"Oh, yes... ghost-hunting." Li Yunru smiled again. "Most girls were more shocked when they saw ghosts than hearing about men climbing up to have fun.
"Film and TV Prod was a course specializing in visual effects and camera tricks. Whenever someone tried to spread fake videos, one of the baddest bitches would w.h.i.n.e to Upperclassman Wen about it. He and the rest of the hors.e.m.e.n would debunk almost all until they found a legit inquiry."
Li Yunru laughed out, but she dropped it. "Well, a group of girls witnessed a haunting while around them—Liu Xiaodan included. That was even minutes before Huang Kun was murdered. Since they felt a spirit of a child showed up at that time, they believed Chuan Nayi when she said a child killed the man.
"They were even the ones who first analyzed the footage of Huang Kun's death… along the frames when the ghost child really swooped in. After that, the baddest bitches asked them to come up and investigate the fifth floor where apparitions of girls and a shadow figure were normally seen.
"It's just that... even though they caught something, they quickly stopped their investigation because Ruan Jin was attacked by Weeping Ling. Then, Jiang Hou got murdered, and Feng'er went to jail. Later, it was Liu Xiaodan..."
Li Yunru shook her head. "Too many things happened, and they had forgotten about the ghosts on the fifth floor. What happened that night could possibly be like the one that happened to Jiang Hou. The residents running amok from the high negative energy and decided to attack."
Hung Guangjian frowned. "Back up. Hors.e.m.e.n?"
Li Yunru nodded. "The four hors.e.m.e.n of failing grades and undeniable masterpieces! Liu Xiaodan, Ruan Jin, Xu Disung, and Wen Taio. Though the long title was just from me. Most just called them that because they were inseparable and very miserable to see. I mean…
"Four males famous for their skills and had the special privilege to enter the girl's dorm… and yet no one would date them at least." Li Yunru chuckled again before sighing. "Of course, that was all before Chuan Nayi showed interest in Liu Xiaodan."
"…you said… they caught something." Hung Guangjian frowned, only interested in the crumbs of possible evidence he could get his hands on no matter how small they were. Sometimes, these would make the biggest difference. "What exactly did they catch?"
Li Yunru hummed and searched her phone again and presented it to the detective. "This is the clearest evidence they had. Moreover, it was a little strange, too, because the girls Ruan Jin said were involved in the massacre… were from the sixth floor."
A recording was played… and it was the same conversation between Guangru and the black thing that wondered why the boys were in the girl's dorm. When Li Yunru first heard it, she didn't make anything much about it; they had all sorts of things in the girl's dorm. It's just that…
"Is that Guangru?" Li Feng frowned as he listened. He couldn't mistake that child's voice for anyone else's.
"Yeah, it turned out. Guangru was with Ruan Jin, Wen Taio, and Xu Disung when they were looking into the case of the black thing. Based on what I also heard, Ruan Jin managed to find Kite's ring while Liu Xiaodan continued to keep the black thing's ring.
"It probably grew furious that Kite found her ring while it couldn't find its ring." Li Yunru remembered that Li Feng was targeted by these things as well because of the ring. Now that it seemed to be recalled, it could be a reason why the entity ran amok. To think that it had an interaction with Guangru…
"Kite?" Hung Huangjian raised a brow. Li Yunru then showed him a photo of a broken mask. "Wing and Kite are some kind of non-human lesser ghosts in the girl's dorm. They seemed to change appearance from little girls to high schoolers depending on their need for mobility and interaction.
"The other residents simply called them the masked girls."
