Chapter 159 - We won't be Merciful

Not die? Captain scoffed. Liu Xiaodan didn't have to kill three of his people if the maniac simply didn't want to die. Moreover, the methods he used were not something 'a good person' would use if he just didn't want to die. He just didn't want to die? Captain didn't believe any of it.

Liu Xiaodan seemed to be aware of this. However, he didn't bother forcing his views on someone who lost people because of him. It was simply too villainous for him to ask for understanding and forgiveness after doing vile actions. The father wouldn't deny killing, and letting some people hate him for it was better than being an asshole to the dead and the people they left behind.

After some seconds of silence from the two leaders, Five clicked on the detonator without any warnings. Bang! Bang! Bang! The whole Treatment Hall shook, and even Six and Seven fell over after getting caught off-guard. When the wall before them crumbled in front of them, the big nurse took the front again. Ten and Seven ran to pick up the injured even if Captain refused to leave with them. Five went on ahead on his own.

Liu Xiaodan followed at the back of the group. The ground was shaking terribly, but he was able to walk properly without feeling the tremor. It was as if he was walking on a separate floor than the one underneath his feet. Six kept on looking back at him as if used to evacuating patients as a reflex. However, this infamous Patient 4-28 was like a ghost catching up behind them. He was just walking, not even in a hurry.

"Walk faster, Xiaodan. Debris is prone to drop while getting out through this method. You should know that." Six almost pouted as he waited for Liu Xiaodan. The patient only smiled and held onto Guangru tighter. He reached out and held onto Six's arm, only to flash through the pathway.

The big nurse stayed inside the wall and 'stared' at the group of other soldiers aiming at the hole they made. Five was also even very scared to come out even if he was stuck to hiding behind the big nurse. However, before Seven got out of the hole, they felt a whiff of cold air pass them by. In an instant, Liu Xiaodan's image appeared out of thin air, and he pushed Six to the ground as if saving him from the rain of bullets if ever.

"Wait! Please don't shoot!" Yun He didn't have any power to stop them, but perhaps his words would buy them a few seconds to think.

"Don't shoot! Don't shoot!" Seven, Six, and Five yelled out as well as they ran out of the hole. Ten didn't say anything, but he was quick to bring Captain to Yun He—a nurse. Seven came near as well to deliver Eight. Of course, the other nurses in the area pulled the injured bunch away from the tension spot.

The man leading the 'ambush' was known to Liu Xiaodan as Dr. Tang, the lead researcher of Cherry Med. Even if he was more on the written and literary side of the experiments, he still had the say before Fan Meiling. Moreover, Dr. Tang was the one who Liu Xiaodan met more for the doc.u.ments and insights about that film they shot. That was also why, when their eyes met, Dr. Tang signaled the guards to stand down.

He then spoke, "The Treatment Hall was sealed in an instant. Aside from the elite squad, did you encounter any other human inside? We… really didn't have enough time to evacuate the patients."

"You what?" Liu Xiaodan was shocked. Then again, he remembered that the same thing must have happened when it was first sealed off because of that vanishing lady. It's just that the Kings weren't going around by then. He frowned at the researcher. "You should have off-site cameras. Can't you check if the patients are fine?"

"Don't get me wrong. It's a given that, during emergencies like this, the patients tended to stay inside their rooms unless told otherwise. Moreover, they were normally restrained so they probably wouldn't be able to move at all. My question was meant for those who would venture out… like you." Dr. Tang had always sounded so commanding that Liu Xiaodan was used to it. "Did you meet anybody?"

Liu Xiaodan blinked before shaking his head. "I didn't, but I killed that strange ghost king that looked like it's stuck doing yoga. What about the other Kings? Did they attack the patients?"

Dr. Tang shook his head. "Patient rooms are fitted with protection against them that even Kings couldn't destroy. They're safe as long as those things are activated—which happens minutes after we secured the patient." Unlike Fan Meiling, Dr. Tang knew that Liu Xiaodan was not stupid in realizing things. They were attacked by a King in different rooms before, and so he needed to make it clear. "If you didn't meet anyone, then that's fine.

"At this rate, you won't be able to return to the Rooms Hall. You might also end up being restrained as part of our standard procedures. There's really no getting out of this arrangement. Are you going to continue breaking out and killing people, or are you resigning to your fate of staying in the Treatment Hall for long?" Dr. Tang decided to be transparent. "However, I will stall the next phase of procedures of your 'treatment'. Stay in your room in peace."

"No… I will get bored." Liu Xiaodan shook his head. "Fine, I'll accept transferring my room here in the Treatment Hall, but let me go around. I won't cause trouble if no one brings it forward. Even if you cuff me, I have a way to get out of it. I also want to visit other patients in the Hall."

Dr. Tang laughed out, but it only sounded deriding. "What a little emperor!" He then resumed his serious expression. "I can negotiate with the rest for your demands. For now, there's nothing I can do, and there's nothing you should do either. Dr. Fan is rushing here anyway. I'll join you in the waiting game."

Liu Xiaodan's eye twitched, but he only looked down on the ground where Guangru stood before him. The child then looked up at him as if uncomfortable with the arrangement. However, it's not like there was anything he was willing to fight for. Besides, he was also tired.

In the end, Liu Xiaodan turned to walk back inside the Treatment Hall. However, he paused and looked over his shoulder. "Okay, I'll stay inside, but if you tried to 'replace' Nurse Yun, I can promise you that we won't be merciful."

"We?" Dr. Tang murmured, but his normally impassive face grew fearful in the next moment.

Liu Xiaodan walked back inside the Treatment Hall, and Guangru was forced to materialize. Moreover, the two other King shells showed up behind him as well. Three dreadful existences glared at Dr. Tang before following Liu Xiaodan deeper into the darkness. When the picture vanished in front of them, almost everyone felt like their backs were drenched in cold sweat.

Dr. Tang covered his mouth and lowered his eyes. "No wonder the Mian family was so against Project Hades…"
