Chapter 160 - The Heiress and the Matron's Son

As if Liu Xiaodan was an easy matter to dismiss, Dr. Tang quickly dropped his thought to the side. He then asked the soldiers to seal off that wall. He then went to the injured elite squad members and gave them a visual inspection of their condition. However, he caught Ten frowning when the nurses were checking them for more than injuries as if something was really wrong with them.

Five was okay with being attended by female nurses, but the check was annoying. He even had to remove his helmet and other accessories. "Hey, hey, what's up with this?!"

"Hm, I figured you should be all thirsty and hungry for being stuck inside the Treatment Hall for two days. It didn't seem like you're losing energy even." Dr. Tang lifted his brows as he evaluated the elite squad. Of course, only Ten, Seven, Six, and Five were being checked. They had long rushed Captain and Eight to the closest staff infirmary. "Do you not feel exhausted?"

"Two days?" Ten murmured. "No… it can't be two days. I have an analog watch with me. There's no way we're misjudging time. We're only there for hours!" He took out the watch from his inside pockets and handed it to the researcher. "Are we really in there for two days?"

Dr. Tang took over the watch and frowned. It was already four in the afternoon, but the watch was only displaying one o'clock… with yesterday's date. Moreover, the seconds hand continued to glide smoothly. As much as the researcher remembered, Liu Xiaodan caused a power surge around eight in the morning yesterday. That was also the time the elite squad was deployed. That meant that almost two days were shrunk into merely five hours.

He found it really interesting. However, he hadn't heard the story of the whole group. Dr. Tang casually kept the watch as evidence. "Are you the only survivors? Where are the others?"

"...Four and Nine were eaten by Kings: God Raven and Pacman. Eight was crippled by Asana, but… Two was eaten by 4-28's pet. Captain also said that 4-28 killed Three and One." Ten narrated as he was helped up by the nurse, but he suddenly fell down as if he lost his energy. The same happened with others, but they didn't seem to be dying. "What is happening?"

"Hm, the effects of the time freeze seemed to be catching up. Take them to the infirmary now. I'll talk to them later." Dr. Tang was supposed to leave, but Ten reached out as if asking for an explanation. "Ah, the child is said to be capable of freezing time whether stretching it or making it faster. However, it only has a certain degree of influence. Now that you are aware of your surroundings, the time freeze wore off and brought consequences."

"How is that even possible? That child is… just a ghost, right?" Ten couldn't even move anymore. Their bodies felt like it was sore and weak everywhere; even fully trained men like them didn't have any more energy.

"A ghost?" Dr. Tang laughed out dryly before walking away, even if his voice was still loud enough for them to hear. "I have been in this field for so long. I know the limitations of a ghost. If that child is a ghost, Red Justice won't even run so smoothly." He then huffed as he took out the watch that didn't speed up. 'A monster for a parasite, a monster for a host. How far will this project go before Xiaodan tears it apart?'

Li Feng stared at the wide white room before him. Rows of beds were on it, paired with a small cabinet with a lamp. The bed count was thirty, just like the number of participants for RS Moses. He then frowned as he looked at the foot where their names were placed in tags. "Are we participants or dead bodies?"

"Perhaps the same." Chuan Nayi found their beds which were next to each other. Their luggage was also tucked under the bed as if telling them where to keep those bags. She then looked around and saw doors at the side, perhaps the bathroom and showers.

"We… we don't even get curtains?" One woman murmured, and the rest of the girls were actually worried. How could they change if the men could just turn and watch? In fact, other men were also feeling strange about this arrangement. Then again, there shouldn't be a problem if everyone was so wary.

"Are you okay with this?" Li Feng whispered to Chuan Nayi after helping her move to the bed from her travel wheelchair. She then hummed as she felt the dry and rough sheets. He only watched her and waited for a verbal reply, but he didn't get any. He only sat on his own bed and checked the cabinet allotted for Chuan Nayi just to see what's inside. It had three shelves… and that was it.

"Li Feng, can you get that for me?" Chuan Nayi spotted a white item next to Li Feng's luggage.

He took out his phone by then and saw that there was no reception. He pocketed it again when Chuan Nayi called him. Following her hand, he ducked and reached to find a pair of white cotton slippers. He then moved and took the pair under Chuan Nayi's bed. "This is yours."

Even if he was not very servile, he still took the initiative to help Chuan Nayi with her shoes. She wouldn't be able to take them off on her own anyway. Moreover, Chuan Nayi was like a very desirable female in her happy days; which male would not even want to c.a.r.e.s.s her feet at some point?

The women around them stared in envy. This Chuan Nayi—as stated in her bed's tag—must be some kind of heiress, and this Li Feng should be the son of their household's matron. No one knew that it was almost the other way around, but Li Feng was just trying to cater favors—and almost got this woman killed brutally. Also, he readily helped people if it was just simple things.

"This doesn't really go with the outfit." Li Feng cracked a joke while looking down at his designer clothes struggling to blend with that cheap-looking white slippers. "At least they're comfortable." He wiggled his toes as if trying to get used to this texture.

"What now though? What do we do next?" Chuan Nayi hummed. They weren't going to stay here in their room and get sick of one another's faces, right?

Before Li Feng could think of anything, a stunningly shapely figure walked in. Her textured hair bounced at her movement as she entered the room and stole the glances of the men. She glanced at both sides and stood at the face where the doors for the showers and toilets were. A gentle m.a.t.u.r.e smile was on her maroon lips. "May I have everyone's attention please."

Her eyelashes fluttered as she introduced herself. "My name is Qiao Yun, and I am the supervisor of this project."
