Chapter 168 - A Red Walkie-Talkie

Liu Xiaodan's brain froze for seconds before he tried to process what Guangru had said again. He then frowned and spoke with difficulty because of the belt on his mouth. "What do you mean… Mama's here? There's no way Nayi would be here. She… she's in the hospital… or not… but she's living her life happily out there..."

Guangru shook his head. "Tap into Big Brother Feng, Baba. I saw her, and I spoke to her. She's in that place next to this Treatment Hall, the Lodging Hall."

"Tap into Li Feng? He's also here?" Upon receiving Guangru's nodding, Liu Xiaodan felt like he couldn't breathe. He was scared to tap into Li Feng's vision and see the face of his first love. It's because… he looked down at himself and stared at the multiple belts holding him against the human-shaped bed. "...no, I don't want to be seen like this. Guangru, since they're here… can you make sure that they will never step inside this hall?"

"...I can't be sure. Nurse Yun said these projects will be conducted here, but this Treatment Hall has a lot of floors. They won't be automatically presented to the sleeping Kings." Guangru hummed. He dropped his baby talk for serious conversations. Moreover, he did visit Nurse Yun last night as well to check up on the soldiers and ask about that place where he found his Mama.

He couldn't actually tell Liu Xiaodan how terrified Yun He was that the 'Mama' existed and was actually involved in the projects. It was as if Yun He knew that it wouldn't be good if something happened to that girl.

"So they can get lost?" Liu Xiaodan's eyes quivered. He had an idea that the Treatment Hall could only be so big, but that adventure with the soldiers showed him how big a floor was. Moreover, it happened during a lockdown so the stairs and elevators were all sealed shut. How much of this place would Chuan Nayi explore if it wasn't?

"Wait… Guangru, do you remember what that bird had said?" Liu Xiaodan glared but not at Guangru. "These projects… they're the feast, aren't they?"

Guangru only nodded. Even the Mother did say that hell would be here when the projects started, and that was because the Kings would be secretly allowed to go around. He couldn't tell Liu Xiaodan everything because he was scared to see that thing his Baba had become. 

Not only could it scare a demon, but Guangru also had no idea how to call it.

"Guangru, please leave me here. I'm safe inside the room just like Dr. Tang said… but Nayi… you need to make sure she will be fine." Liu Xiaodan bit into the belt in his mouth. "Please, Guangru… I'm begging you."

Guangru then reached out and patted his Baba's face with a smile, one that was out of place and very playful. "Don't worry, Baba. After getting you out of here, Guangru will soon have a real body!"

The participants of RS Moses stood outside the huge double doors as they finished their breakfast. Right now, the nurses were taking their vital signs as if noting a before-and-after list for them. Chuan Nayi had no choice but to sit in her wheelchair that had begun to feel so uncomfortable.

Qiao Yun stood around with them, secretly keeping her eyes on the tagged individuals. Moreover, she was really interested in Chuan Nayi. Not only was this Jiang Yanyu's daughter, but she was also the recognized mother of the demon. If anything, any harm that came to her would probably spark Liu Xiaodan's activities. Qiao Yun wondered how fast he could react even if he was restrained by specially engraved belts.

From the far side came Tang Liang and Dr. Tang. Qiao Yun recognized them immediately and greeted them halfway. "Dr. Tang, what a surprise. Are you here to take a look? Anyone that catches your interest?"

"Miss Chuan." Dr. Tang looked in Chuan Nayi's direction. "She's in a wheelchair, and that's a direct violation of our volunteer criteria. I am wondering why Miss Qiao agreed to have her around."

"That's Miss Jiang's daughter. If I reject her, what will she say next?" Qiao Yun chuckled and found an easy way out. However, she couldn't shake off the feeling that Dr. Tang was so worried about her… like he was staring at his own daughter. Qiao Yun began to tease him. "She's only twenty this year, doctor. I didn't know you fancy college girls. Well, she is outstanding even among her peers."

"I'm just very worried about her." Dr. Tang's eyes then moved his gaze at the door. "Very worried."

He said 'very worried', but his commanding tone didn't show enough care. Qiao Yun only raised a brow before realizing that Dr. Tang must know Liu Xiaodan more than just a student trying to doc.u.ment one of their more-human studies. 'Could it be that he knew Chuan Nayi is Liu Xiaodan's girlfriend?'

When one of the nurses told Qiao Yun that everyone was ready, the supervisor excused herself and then walked away from Dr. Tang. Unlike in Wangguan, Song Qixi had no over-the-top power here in Cherry Medical. He could only take precautions to complete what he came here to do.

"Our first exercise is like a game. You have three hours to find a special red walkie-talkie inside the building." Qiao Yun spoke as she walked across the lines of participants. "Once turned on, we will contact you on that walkie-talkie to give you additional instructions. Of course, you can bring a friend back, but without a walkie-talkie, we won't give you an incentive for this test.

"On your wrists are special watches. It's designed to never break." She raised her hand and showed off the watches given to them earlier. "This is just a simple task. Good luck."

Even if she said it was simple, the participants knew that there would be a catch. Then again, they signed up for it so they could only suck it up. They were let in with the interval of a minute, and so Li Feng and Chuan Nayi couldn't go in at the same time. This interval worried Li Feng; unless the place was changing every minute, there was no reason for them to be spaced like that. Moreover, this was the famed Treatment Hall…

Li Feng then looked up at it. 'Qingtao specified that this place is where the Kings of the facility are sleeping. If that's true… then it would be dangerous to go alone. I hope Nayi will be okay. Wait, I shouldn't be worried. Guangru knows she's here so she should be okay. Sigh, push comes to a shove, I might start asking Xiaodan for help again. Ah, how repulsive of me. He got inside first, and the very moment he stepped inside, he was shocked. He felt the sting of a maze formation to block the senses. When he turned around, the door behind him was gone. He was already in another place as if he was bound to lose his way. Li Feng held onto the black horse's foot.

"Red walkie-talkie… I just need to find one," he murmured, but he faintly heard voices around him. "So many?!"
