Chapter 169 - The Worst Kind

It was not just Li Feng. All the participants of RS Moses were shocked by the sudden change. Though only those who were as strong as Li Feng had felt the sting of the barrier, everyone had heard the voices. The halls of the Treatment Hall were notoriously known for being the slaughterhouse of the facility for a very long time. The worse kind of patients was treated here, and so their d.e.s.i.r.e and despair had molded and fed the strongest of entities.

Li Feng leaned against his hand on one of his ears. The voices were particularly very loud for him. It was like being in a marketplace in broad daylight when the fresh chops and the first produce had been laid down. He had to groan and concentrate because he could practically understand the conversations over time.

"Gotta move..." Li Feng shook his head. In a place like this, he probably would be emptying his stomach from the surges, but his connection with Liu Xiaodan had alleviated it completely. Perhaps for comfort from the child. He then continued down the dim-lit hallways.

Chuan Nayi rolled the wheelchair, its fluid motion giving her less time to cross through the hallway. She could hear the voices, but there were no words. However, she chose to not advance at joints where they go louder. 'I wonder if Xiaodan hears these things every day. Then again, my abilities are barely passable for the project. If I ended up running into anything, I don't know if Guangru will be around me...'

She sighed. She couldn't just forget everything that happened because Guangru gave her legs back… or that the child was trying to protect her while respecting her wishes. Perhaps if he could return Xiaodan to her… maybe she would consider burying the hatchet.

"I have to find Li Feng or a walkie-talkie fast. There should only be thirty of those things… or fewer." Chuan Nayi whispered to herself as she continued to look around. "I wonder who I will run into first… a ghost and a human..."

She rolled her wheelchair through the halls and looked around the dim-lit surroundings. It was strange for a medical facility to have poor lighting when there would more people working here. However, ever since she entered this Treatment Hall, she had already seen a few red flags in the place.

The very fact that no one walked these halls aside from her told her that this place could not be used as a real part of the facility. No one would work in these conditions, and it was impossible for a top-grade mental institution to force their staff to endure poor lighting… especially when the Lodging Hall was so bright.

Her eyes fluttered from time to time as she grew a little bored. She couldn't find any red walkie-talkie, and she began to wonder if she was knocked out and forced into a dream. No one was around… was she the only one who chose to move?

"Nayi?!" A voice echoed from the end of the corridor, and the woman moved her eyes to the side and used her peripheral vision to spot three girls coming up to her. There were also two boys with them. The girl who called out jogged to her and squatted as if getting into her eye level. "Nayi! We found you, too! Did you find a red walkie-talkie yet? Jun and Chao found one already."

"Oh, so we can escape now as long as they stay with us." Chuan Nayi raised her brows and chuckled before looking around. "I haven't gone in there. Maybe, there's a walkie-talkie there."

"I wish there would be two." The girl then walked with Chuan Nayi. "Are you going for the incentive?" The girl asked as she searched the empty room with Chuan Nayi, the rest of the girls helping out. "A few more would be good. I mean, the contract promised thirty thousand per month, higher than a normal job… but if these incentives are worth a thousand then… the better, right?"

Chuan Nayi frowned. She actually saw a red walkie-talkie in the pile, but she didn't pick it up readily. For some reason, it felt quite wrong. However, it was explanatory for them to want more. A curious question then came out of her lips: "Cherry's contract…? Just thirty thousand?"

The girl twitched as well as the others. One of the guys then snorted as he leaned on the door and blocked the path. "I bet an heiress like you don't care about the money. So what are you really after in this place? Just some strange honeymoon escapade with that pretty boy husband of yours?"

"Yeah, it's not the money, but I have to correct you on a few points." Chuan Nayi turned to them and blocked their view of the walkie-talkie in the room. "I came here to find someone. I have no idea where he is exactly, but he's here… a patient of the facility. Moreover, he's the husband I want. Li Feng is his cousin, and Li Feng's helping me look for him. Even our friends in the other project are here for him."

"Oh, does the lunatic husband have a name?" The same guy snickered. It was strange to want someone who was currently staying in a mental facility. The girls also felt uncomfortable about it. Cherry Medical had things like ghosts in their projects, and so did they host the worse in their other halls. They wanted to think that Chuan Nayi was lying.

"He does." Chuan Nayi felt the sound of the voices rising as if warning them, but these people only checked their peripheral visions for anything strange. She had a feeling that they had never encountered a scary kind of ghost before, only those that would barely touch a human being. Moreover, there was an aching urge to call out his name. "It's… Liu Xiaodan."

Liu Xiaodan…

The group froze as the name seemed to echo inside their brains and along the halls of the floor. To these humans, Liu Xiaodan was a famed psycho who killed almost twenty students and claimed that he was letting a ghost do it. However, they didn't know that he was sent to Cherry Med. As for the ghosts…

Silence… complete silence. As soon as Chuan Nayi uttered his name, the whole room grew quiet. The whispering voices held their tongues, and the psychics noticed it immediately. Perhaps only Chuan Nayi had a feeling that this would happen. In her heart, she knew that Xiaodan was being turned into some bioweapon, and there's no way he wouldn't be famous among the entities.

"...no. You're joking, right?" The man leaning on the door straightened his body and complained in a loud voice. "Bitch! Stop scaring us! You think it's good to joke about that guy's name?! Your Highness probably didn't know, but the whole community knew that he's the worst kind! He's probably rotting in prison rather than—!"

A shadow was cast from behind him and over his head. Before he could turn to take a look, a big mouth had chomped down!
