Chapter 188 - Infestation pt 2

Deeeeen! The lights went out, and the orderly froze in his spot. A strange putrid-smelling draft blew on them, and the orderly only covered his mouth. It smelled like someone was wheeling in a rotten cadaver. The lights began to flicker, but the orderly wished they didn't. When then lights provided dim illumination for their eyes, they were just a meter away from a monster.

Its body was huge enough to fill the entire corridor, but it looked like a baby that was crawling on the ceiling. However, the face was nothing but a well of teeth that was seemingly smiling at them. The huge baby hand reached out to the ceiling… before suddenly launching itself right towards Li Feng and the orderly!

"F.u.c.k—!" The orderly wanted to evade, but he was more marveled by what Li Feng did next.

"Succ.u.mb!" Li Feng threw the talismans, and they all glowed brightly. The baby's eyes would bulge out if it had them—as it didn't realize that the shaman was very strong. The talismans easily scorched the baby's face, and it started to cry in pain. Bang! Bang! Bang! Its wriggling action caused a tremor-like effect to the Lodging Hall.

"Vanish!" The shaman made hand seals that made the talismans fly to the baby like burning arrows. As they plastered themselves on its skin, the baby cried out in agony. Its crying became so strong that the orderly felt like his ears were already bleeding.

The baby suddenly slammed its hand down at Li Feng and the orderly in an attempt to escape. The shaman had to tackle the orderly out of the way as the ghost's strength was not minuscule. Bang! The strike broke through multiple floor tiles, but the hand had vanished right after. Even the eerie feeling and suffocating air were gone. All of a sudden, the hallway was just as peaceful as the rest.

However, soldiers in black thick tactical gears went to point rifles in their direction. Li Feng extremely hated the view, but he still had to raise his hands. What made it worse for him was that he was the only one roughly tackled to the ground and restrained like a criminal. The orderly was only checked if he had wounds.

"Wait, wait! He chased it away!" The orderly tried to help Li Feng, but one of the tactical-geared men took him away from the scene. "You don't need to cuff him!"

"Damn, it's like we have an infestation..." One of the soldiers in black laughed dryly as he picked up Li Feng to his own feet. "I thought locking up Xiaodan permanently would leave us in peace."

The other soldier snorted. "Don't talk like he didn't save your a.s.s, you idiot."

Li Feng didn't react loudly, but he was shocked when he heard Liu Xiaodan's name from the soldiers. He was being treated as a nuisance, unlike the way Tang Liang told them. However, it was from the perspective of security. Perhaps, Liu Xiaodan was barely paying attention to what's allowed and what's not. Moreover, this soldier said something about Liu Xiaodan being locked up.

The nurses who flooded the place of the quake's origin saw the soldiers walking Li Feng in front, the young master's hands cuffed behind him. However, the looks on their eyes were not like the ones the students used to look at him before. This time, the nurses were confused and worried because the young master was being detained. Moreover, someone even came to walk with them.

"Is he not hurt? The person looked so terrified, and the floor is broken." The seemingly high-ranked nurse spoke to the soldiers.

"We're only detaining him because he entered prohibited areas and had been loitering suspiciously. Also, that thing that wrecked the floor—"

"It's the swaddled baby we hear about from the Rooms Hall. The same one that attacked 4-28, right? How sure are you that it won't return here anymore?" The nurse growled, uncaring of the ears that would hear. Then again, why would she be scared? The area was prohibited exactly because multiple nurses and orderlies had seen the teeth-welled face of that ghost baby. Also, they worked on those projects. Everyone knew.

It's just now that Li Feng realized that some things weren't actually secrets to the staff of this place. Most of them were just wary of spreading rumors and creating pandemonium among the participants of the projects. He then spoke as he tried to fight the soldier's push on him. "It won't return for a while. It's way weaker than it should be for a greater ghost. Just a few more seconds earlier, and I would have exorcised it properly."

The nurse twitched as she heard Li Feng's words. "A shaman?" She would rain gratitude, but she only grew more worried about him. "Why thank you, but you shouldn't have said that."

"Plowing through!" The soldier gave a rough push that almost made Li Feng fall down. The nurse caught him by the arm and glared at the soldier before releasing Li Feng's arm. She had no choice but to watch the soldiers take away the detainee… just like everyone there who felt what happened.

The sound of coffee flowing down from the lips of a pot into the cup was tempting, alongside the aroma of the premium brewed coffee offered to her. However, Chuan Nayi only sat in her wheelchair while staring at a rather big-framed man who looked like he owned the world. The aura coming from him was what she would expect from business tycoons. However, he was the villainy version, comparable to the infamous Li Heilong.

"You look at me like you're expecting me to threaten you." The man laughed out, but his eyes were sharp and menacing. "What is it that makes you hesitant of drinking my coffee, Miss Chuan…? Ah, no, I should be calling you Nayi at this point."

"I don't know why I'm being pulled out from Red Scales. Are you sending me home?" Chuan Nayi didn't play with the man as she couldn't read through his actions. Moreover, she was scared of her conversation's implications on the rest. She was supposed to be coming back to the psychics' shared room.

However, right now, she was sitting in a lounge with this unknown man. Last night, she figured she wouldn't be released by that old man after keeping her mouth shut. In the end, she was escorted to a strange bedroom like she was part of the staff instead of an outsider. This morning, she was still not returned to the shared room.

"I'm pulling you out because of this." The man only hummed as he moved to face the huge television on top of the display fireplace. He picked up a remote controller and turned it on. What shocked Chuan Nayi was that it was camera footage of Liu Xiaodan walking along the dim hallways of the Treatment Hall.

"Xiaodan..." Chuan Nayi's eyes quivered before turning to the man with just a side glance, not knowing what to expect now. However, she only watched the man smile. "Nayi, would you like to help Xiaodan with his project?"
