Footsteps echoed in the red and black hallways of the Treatment Hall. Liu Xiaodan was taking the lead, walking along without looking around while Li Feng normally looked behind them. However, he could only spot a few movements as small-time ghosts were taking a look at who was walking the hallways. It was as if they were very scared of the 'transcendent' Li Feng was following.
The shaman pulled on his collar and took a look at Liu Xiaodan's back. Unlike before, it was rather straight and stalwart as if Liu Xiaodan knew of his power. He could simply kill Kings if he wanted, and that should be rather terrifying to the entities of this place. Moreover, there was something else that caught Li Feng's interest.
"Xiaodan… they were calling you Hades. Did you sign up for another project? Nayi said you were supposed to be Red Justice." Based on what he knew, Red Justice was for the militarization of the occult. It's just that… how were they planning to militarize something this stubborn and ins.e.n.s.i.t.i.v.e? Should they always play the 'think about these people' card? What if Liu Xiaodan stopped caring in general?
"Hades?" The name felt too powerful for Liu Xiaodan. All he had at the moment was three spawning Kings and a bunch of greater ghosts. He didn't want to take on the name like he was proud of already owning… just that few.
"Yeah, Project Hades..." Li Feng nodded. That was the same name Yun He had given… as well as what Fan Meiling said she was handling. It also seemed to be a name everyone in the facility could be using.
"Like Phase 2?"
"Yeah, I wonder what Phase 1 was—ah!" Li Feng replied before he realized that there was a new voice that joined their conversation. Before he could take a look behind him to see if he matched the voice to the face correctly, Guangru jumped at him and hung from his back. He was using the full weight of a child and made Li Feng almost fall down backward. Li Feng complained, "How could you carry something this heavy for long hours?!"
Guangru then huffed and dropped to the ground before running to Liu Xiaodan's side. "Baba's hurt again. Did you get in trouble?" The child traced his finger on the clotting wound on Liu Xiaodan's forearm. He could heal this, but he didn't for some reason.
Guangru threw a glare up at Liu Xiaodan, but his father only scooped him from the floor. The child had no choice but to become weightless again and hug his father for balance.
Liu Xiaodan only smiled at the child, seemingly shy to be caught cooing at the child in front of someone he knew. The father then just turned around first before kissing the child's face. "Where have you been? I found Qingwei… but I got her in trouble."
"Baba so troublesome." Guangru moved to cling to Liu Xiaodan's neck and stare at the other person. Li Feng was hissing at the searing pain of the sunburn-like ghost touch Guangru left out of spite. "Big Brother thinks it's my job to keep him safe? Isn't he getting too full of himself?"
"Hm?" Li Feng threw a gaze at the child and stared at the eyes of the ancient demon. He didn't remember this as a proper behavior of a six-year-old. Moreover, he had always been described as a sweet, innocent child to others. That language just now… didn't match. "...did Guangru's mental age change?"
Liu Xiaodan laughed out. "What do you mean? He's always been a thousand-year-old spirit. He does behave like a child at times, but that doesn't mean his mental age has always been of a child."
Mental slap. Li Feng would slap his own face for forgetting. He had seen Guangru for what he really was and had heard the kind of wisdom this 'child' had inside his mind. Guangru might be a very soft and vulnerable child to outsiders, but he was nothing that naive to those who had seen the real him.
Li Feng only murmured in embarrassment, hopefully pushing the topic into another one, "Xiaodan, let's find a room to talk. I still have something to show you."
"I hope it's not something inappropriate—"
"Excuse me?!"
Guangru snorted and randomly chose a vacant room on the floor and forced its door open. It didn't show that it took effort; it was just a flick of Guangru's power after all. They entered the room and closed the door behind them. As it was a patient's room whose occupant hadn't been replaced yet, there was no camera inside.
Seeing a normal rolling bed, Liu Xiaodan quickly sat down and lied on his back as Guangru jumped off and lied down just the same. Ah, a real bed! Finally, a real bed!
The shaman was shocked, but he figured normal rolling beds probably wouldn't be able to hold onto someone like Liu Xiaodan. This man must be chained to something else. He just pulled a chair and turned it around. He sat down and rested his weight against the back support against his c.h.e.s.t.
Li Feng said he needed to show Liu Xiaodan something, but they both quickly took a rest upon settling down. The three quickly realized the silence in the room, but they didn't break it just the same.
Even if Li Feng was just on a chair, he could feel so relaxed. Perhaps being chased by Pacman and then by Qingwei had placed a lot of strain on his body. Moreover, he was also left to wake up in this place after being threatened by that Dr. Fan. He had no idea what happened to Ruan Jin and Qiao Shan, but he figured they would be very careful with Chuan Nayi. Before he knew it, he fell asleep.
"What is he trying to show us?" Liu Xiaodan whispered as he figured Li Feng started sleeping. The very soft snoring was easy to hear in a very quiet place like this. His eyes closed as well, trying to savor the feeling of proper bedding under his back.
"You should take a break, Baba. You have been walking around for two days already." Guangru rolled around to give his father a bigger room as he crawled into the bed. Just like that, the two men were knocked out from the secret fumes spreading from Guangru. The child then sat up and looked at the opening door. He smiled at Old Doctor. "Can you watch them? I'll take over the thing."
Old Doctor walked inside and tilted his head. "Task… gauging… Master..."
Guangru nodded. "I know, but they're going to use it against him after." The child hopped off of the bed and pulled out the earpieces from Li Feng's pockets. He quickly placed it on him as he walked out the door, leaving the rest of the adopted children to watch over the two. The child closed the door and tapped the devices before laughing into its mike. "Nurse Yun, Nurse Yun, is Mr. Wu still around?"
