Chapter 204 - I'm not a Ghost

Everyone actually didn't know what to do as they watched the two men vanish into a room. Wu Zhong's face was the worst as he realized that Liu Xiaodan was way more powerful than Mian Qingwei. She couldn't even last a few minutes against his spawned Kings alone. They didn't need data to say that; the one-sided slaughter they witnessed was enough proof.

Though, he seemed to have discovered something very important. Mian Qingwei didn't chase Li Feng without a reason. Though she spoke of pure Mian blood… Wu Zhong was pretty sure both Li Feng and Liu Xiaodan didn't have the pure blood of the Mian family.

As for Fan Meiling, she was trembling in anger. Even though the initial balance-and-check was between Red Scales and Red Justice, she could forego the other project in favor of putting all her eggs on Red Justice. However, as things stood, she was supposed to be the one making a specimen that should be the strongest. Abaddon had met the highest potential, but she found a good specimen in Liu Xiaodan.

However, she clearly underestimated the man. At first, she was very happy… until she learned about the change in projects just hours ago. Red Scales was taken off of her hands without notice, but she was given Hades Phase 2 on paper. However, Wu Zhong had complete power over the smallest things that happened to it. She thought that Red Justice was still going to be the priority project… but no, she met Hades.

They all met Hades.

'I wouldn't have spared that troublemaker if I knew he's going to take away my rice bowl.' Fan Meiling glared at the blank screen for a long while before she went to leave the Control Room.

Tang Zhenluo only watched her leave before looking at the screen again. However, he had already pulled out files about Mian Qingwei on his tablet. Strangely, he recovered it faster than the ones in the Control Room themselves. It paid to force Tang Liang to learn more from Ruan Jin back then.

He then frowned at the reports about Mian Qingwei. She was a very old project named Project Queen. It seemed like she had died in one of their experiments, and that was why the project was tossed away. For her to suddenly resurface now… could it be that she smelled something from Li Feng that forced her to revive herself and step out of her cell? Tang Zhenluo's breath hitched. A specimen that could fake its own death…

Chu Youlan, in the Qiao Yun disguise, was actually zoning out the entire time. Perhaps she was stuck in a deadly fantasy that her brain kept on thinking about it even if she was standing here. Her lenses were recording everything so she wouldn't lose anything important just as she 'witnessed' it. However, with Song Qixi's hard nudge at her, she woke up and quickly followed hushed instructions from the man.

The secretary didn't have clearance to all the records of the facility, and so even if she tried to look, she wouldn't be able to find anything. Since Song Qixi was once again plunged into an angry episode, Chu Youlan stepped away from him slowly. Her eyes were then attracted to the files Tang Zhenluo was reviewing. Everyone else was like headless chickens in trying to look, but Tang Zhenluo was quietly looking at something.

She then walked to him and smiled as she secretly took a look. However, it shocked her when the tablet moved to let her read freely. Chu Youlan then looked up and saw that the doctor was glaring down at her. Actually, Tang Zhenluo just looked angry and commanding even at his default.

"Are you interested in that girl, Mian Qingwei?" Tang Zhenluo handed the tablet to her, and she began reading through it. "The data for her tests are not included in that, but I have no need for it for now. I just need to understand why a dead specimen would show up all of a sudden. What does she need from Li Feng? His blood isn't pure in any way."

"I think it's something to do with what they're doing in Project Hades." Chu Youlan was recording everything she took a look at, but she couldn't help but wonder why this file didn't show up in the servers of others. "As much as I remember, they were culminating this Mian Qingwei's blood and then injecting it into Liu Xiaodan..."

"...so he becomes impure..." Tang Zhenluo huffed. He then hovered a hand to collect the tablet from Chu Youlan. "We should get that boy Li Feng out of that place. Then again, if he stepped out of the Treatment Hall, Dr. Fan will dissect him. Not only could his blood summon Liu Xiaodan, but it's also the chosen food of this Mian Qingmei."

Chu Youlan looked up at the doctor and chuckled, hoping to get something out of him. "Do you not like Dr. Fan? This isn't the first time you will clash against her choices. Is there something about her that you wanted for yourself? Like… being supervisor?"

The old man only glared down at her, but Chu Youlan felt like something was sawing through her. "My line of work and hers are completely different. She leads the projects because she's the most qualified. My… clashes against her choice is simply a given; Dr. Fan is not a genius that would always arrive at the best solutions. Compare it to the circ.u.mstances of id and super-ego if you will.

"You better not try to implicate Dr. Fan at the expense of the experiments. Dreams and fulfillment are poured into these seemingly inhuman experiments." Tang Zhenluo took a look at the blank screen again. "If you don't heed my warning, don't look for me when you find yourself dying."

Chu Youlan shuddered and stepped away from the doctor. She then walked back to Song Qixi's side who glared at her for wandering around. She whispered to Song Qixi about what she remembered about the case, only for them to be interrupted by the opening of the door on screen. They all waited for a while before Guangru walked out, having a familiar device on his head.

His big round black eyes then stared at the nearest camera, and he smiled rather ghastly. "Nurse Yun, Nurse Yun, is Mr. Wu still around?"

"...Guangru, how can you talk to me using this line? The voices of the ghosts are not supposed to go through," Yun He answered nonetheless. Even if he figured the ghosts couldn't be heard through the headset as demonstrated by Tang Mingming. That fact was the only guarantee he had that Mian Qingwei was not a ghost.

"But, Nurse Yun, I'm not a ghost." Guangru continued to smile before looking into the distance. "Nurse Yun, a King is headed here. I should lure it away from Baba."
