Chapter 211 - Things Only I Know

Ruan Jin could hear him properly, but he didn't know who he was speaking with. Then, a cast shadow covered the two men. That was the only time when Ruan Jin saw that the big black teddy bear had stood and blocked light from entering the room. It moved to sit next to his bed, letting its big head rest next to Ruan Jin's head. The paralyzed man could only recall the bear as the same one he saw inside Liu Xiaodan's room earlier.

No… he had seen this one before!

"Xiong…? Old Xiong…?" Ruan Jin didn't know when he started uttering words, but he could finally make words even if it was hard to understand. His speech was slurring, but he could produce a noise now.

"Is that his name?" Jiu Yuanli patted the sweat on the patient's head dry before getting off of the bed. "Jin, you should rest. The pain will reduce later, and then we'll play close-open like you're a toddler, okay?" The doctor opened and closed his fist at the patient before exiting the room. When the door locked, a red light showed on the top of the door. It had been locked shut.

As if heeding the doctor's advice, Ruan Jin dozed off for real. It was as if he was very safe as long as the black bear was next to him. Even if he wasn't with Ye Ling right now, he knew that they would be reunited one of these days.

For Jiu Yuanli, he walked along the corridor and saw that most nurses actually chose to take care of their patients during these times. He heard that these sirens meant that it would be dangerous outside the Administrative Hall. However, most nurses bought the lie that they would be safe inside a patient's room. Actually, that would only work if they were in the Treatment Hall.

At the side concealed from the cameras, he walked to get to the stairs to the third floor. However, he stopped at that very spot that no camera could see. He took out a few stickers from a hidden pocket in his shirt. The doctor started sticking the printed shapes and glyphs properly. After being satisfied with his work of a few minutes, he acted like he had been wailing all this time at the side.

Leaving the corridor under the gaze of another camera, Jiu Yuanli hoped that what he was given would hold. Now, he had to do the same for the three other floors.

The light faintly brought life into the void of darkness. When Li Feng came to, he found himself in a big room as if he was inside a vacant canteen of the Treatment Hall. Next to him stood Liu Xiaodan who was holding onto his old-fashioned lamp. They were both staring at a group of chairs that was propped up like it was a wood sculpture. Talismans abounded the sculpture, and multiple diagrams were placed around it.

Guangru was standing in front of it, a group of wooden vines trying to break the diagrams around the chair sculpture. Liu Xiaodan walked towards him and kept the lamp so he had some kind of light. The father spoke, "Guangru, what are you trying to do? The other patients will be in trouble."

"...I know." Guangru hummed before turning to his father, but his image looked deformed. Only half of his image was a child; the other half was like wood that melted onto the floor and had vines attack the diagrams. The left part of his face was akin to the pareidolic face of the tree bark—even the color was correct. "I want to punish him, Baba. Mr. Wu is a disgusting creature..."

"You asked the Kings to eat the people?" Liu Xiaodan frowned. That was quite problematic.

"Yes, I did, but I made that promise to Abaddon. I know that he wouldn't leave you alone either way. There's no point in taking stupid promises to heart. As long as it's not written on paper, things will change." Guangru frowned at the diagrams. Abaddon was transcending just like the Mother. If he got the chance to become a demon, the child was sure that the mopface would start targeting them again.

Liu Xiaodan sighed as he squatted down to join Guangru. "What about your other friends? Nurse Yun would be upset if he heard that it was you who destroyed this maze formation. Everyone in the support group would be sad, too. You should stop, Guangru—"

The child had a few vines wrap around Liu Xiaodan, and the two males were shocked when he did so. Guangru then murmured in a low howl, assuming his ghost voice. "He won't get mad anymore, Baba. He's dead."

"What?" Liu Xiaodan's eyes widened. He might not be so close to Yun He, but he knew that Guangru favored the nurse so much. While Liu Xiaodan was locked or sleeping, the child would always be hanging out with the nurse. If anything, Guangru would be more upset if something bad happened to the nurse. Then again…

"What do you mean he's dead?" Liu Xiaodan was shocked, and his mind couldn't let it sink in. "Who… killed him?"

"Mr. Wu." Guangru's voice was calm, but the vines just stabbed at the diagrams with utmost strength. Two more diagrams broke, and one more remained. The real core could only be so strong against him after all the diagrams were broken. "Baba, I failed to protect him. I didn't know there was a gun. Baba, I can't let him kill someone else."

Li Feng curled his fist tightly. Heima was right when he said that Guangru couldn't stop a swift death, only one that could be stopped through time. He was only speaking with Yun He for a short while so he didn't know how kind the nurse was to Guangru. However, it scared him the way it scared Guangru.

The shaman could only shake his head. "Xiaodan, we can't let the innocent suffer even if you're seeking revenge. There should be a fine line in this."

"...Guangru already said it, didn't he? We just have to fight them if we don't want them from… wait, that's wrong." Liu Xiaodan slid his eyes to the side. "We shouldn't do anything. This catastrophe wouldn't make sense if we curb it ourselves—"

"Wait, do you hear yourself?!" Li Feng screeched. He then growled. "Are you two out of your minds?! We're talking about the whole facility! Not to mention nurses and doctors who were just doing their job, we have patients here! How could you be so selfish in letting them get hurt?!" The shaman then prepared a soul attack. "Guangru, I can't stand against you, but this isn't much like you to expend those who didn't do you any wrong!"

The child then turned to him. His eyes could blink before he smiled. "You're right, Big Brother. Then again, there are things that you don't know. There are things that only I know." His eyes dimmed as he stared at the diagram that was breaking apart. "You don't have to be scared."
