Chapter 216 - A Good Place

That was only when they realized that the rooms in the Sick Hall were all dim. All the lights from inside the rooms were turned off, and only the light from outside was visible. It also escaped his first glance that the three nurses were hiding below the windows. He then looked up at the trembling nurse who still decided to save them even if it was dangerous. He spoke in a hushed tone: "Is something outside?"

The nurse only nodded before they started shrill laughter echoing. "I'm free, I'm free. Now, now… let's all get something to eat, shall we?"

"It ate one of my friends already. I can't just watch four more to be eaten." The nurse gritted her teeth, but Nine frowned at the nurse. Did she not know who this man was? Get eaten? It was Liu Xiaodan who would have a meal instead!

"Probably just around here..." The voice echoed closer to their room.

The other nurses cried as they glared at the fourth-floor nurse. If only they knew she would bring in their demise, they wouldn't have helped her get inside. However, they were still humans who wanted to help the needy and those who were in danger. It's just that… the thing must have seen her when she saved this man.

A black silhouette then stood in front of the door, the light from behind it didn't let them see its face against the door's window. The fourth-floor nurse trembled as she continued holding onto Liu Xiaodan's sleeve. The door opened on its own, and an ugly woman stood in front of the exit. Her face was turned upside down, but her eyes seemed to be looking at them still.

"Delicious!" The woman jumped at the fourth-floor nurse, but Liu Xiaodan only raised his arm. The blood spurted at the greater ghost's face, and she screamed in pain. Liu Xiaodan then laughed like it was a time to do so. "I just fed a King to you guys!"

Liu Xiaodan's shadow then moved as if the source of light came from behind him as well. When the woman recovered, she crouched on the ground to attack again. However, hands reached out from Liu Xiaodan's shadow. The father could see Yi Junhai, Tang Mingming, and God Raven grabbing the woman and dragged her into it.

"What?! What is this?!" She seemed to be aware that there were hungry ghosts in the shadow. Her eyes flew to Liu Xiaodan who was only smiling at her. Since God Raven helped them pull on the woman, she wasn't able to escape. She fell into the shadow, screaming as she was turned into food. It turned out… Yi Junhai was too weak to feed on the King… they needed something lesser.

"What the hell are you?" Nine couldn't believe his eyes. He just thought his mind was joking when he said Liu Xiaodan was the one eating that ghost; who thought that he was correct all along?

Liu Xiaodan chuckled as he took the nurse's hands off of him gently. "Mian Qingwei used the word 'transcendent'. I think it's cool and acceptable to use on me, too. Nurse Miao, you're safe with me. Let's find Mr. Min."

The nurse had heard about Liu Xiaodan and the ghost friends, but she didn't take it seriously. Who would be friends with ghosts anyway? It's just that she felt so wrong to underestimate the insanity there was in reality. She thought that the support group patients were just misled by their brains. 

Something like this would never make her think that all crazy was the same now

"F-Follow me..." Nurse Miao took Liu Xiaodan's offer to help her up, and she led the group outside and through the maze of hallways. She was also telling them about the siren and the trouble that came with it. They heard that dangerous things would be in the hallways, but no one told them it would be killer ghosts.

After climbing four sets of steps, she paused again. Liu Xiaodan only caught her back and proceeded in front. Guangru climbed Nine like a post because of his height, but this post was rather soft and would sob inwardly uncontrollably. Mian Qingtao was still a trained security officer so he could carry Li Feng all the way. Somehow, the man didn't feel like he weighed enough for a full-grown man.

Liu Xiaodan led the walk and saw a few greater ghosts slobbering their tongues on the overlooking glass of one of the rooms. They knew that someone was inside that place, but they didn't seem to be able to enter. Perhaps because the door was locked. Couldn't these fellows unlock the door?

"Hey, what are you doing there?" Liu Xiaodan called out, and the greater ghosts screeched at the sight of him. Unlike the woman earlier, they seemed to know how capable Liu Xiaodan was. He then glanced at the other rooms he passed by and noticed movements in the dark.

The father then looked at the ghosts that were retreating. "Have you killed anyone today?"

"Back away, Xiaodan… King would be rising today, and we will feast on your flesh..." One of them spoke, and the others joined in threatening him as they retreated again and again. 

The transcendent, however, continued to walk forward and only smiled at them. Before they knew it, they were chomped down by the big-torso-ed nurse. Everyone else was already digesting something; it was time for Guangru to give nourishment to his servants. That meant for Liu Xiaodan to devour these ghosts on his own.

"Xiaodan!" Meng Guo banged at the glass. She was trying to say something, but the room was soundproofed for some reason. The woman then stopped and changed her expression when Liu Xiaodan was not even reacting to her words. She started to bang on the glass again when she saw the man leaving her spot.

Liu Xiaodan pretended not to see her and looked more inside the room. He couldn't hear her anyway. It looked like a good place, and the door wasn't inaccessible without a key card. Even greater ghosts would be able to enter the place despite the big-ass glass overlooking. The man turned to Guangru and the others. "Let's use this one later. Let's find Mr. Min—"

As he was talking, Nurse Miao hurried to one room. She used her key card and went inside. Liu Xiaodan jogged to the place and checked out the room, but Nurse Miao screamed as she was pushed out by a wrinkled-skinned patient. It was Min Ye, but he was moving erratically. When he tried to bite down at Nurse Miao's face, Liu Xiaodan inserted his hand inside the mouth.

Chomp! Blood spurted on the man's face, but whatever was inside him stopped moving. Liu Xiaodan held on to the man's head. "Shhh, leave the guy alone. This is now between the two of us. Your King won't save you."
