Chapter 256 - I Want my Feng'er

"Tell me good news at least." Qiao Muwei's head was aching. He was suffering a lot even before he could formally challenge the tycoon. Maybe this was why no one dared to touch the Li family even if Li Heilong's marriage was falling apart. Even if the very members of that family were against him. How could someone power up an entire empire with just himself?

The answer was never. Li Heilong wasn't alone. He had an entire A-Team of mercenaries behind him.

Qiao Weilun pulled out records from the tablet given to him by one of the project scientists. "Master, Young Lady Shan was able to pull through and had synchronized effectively with Hongfei. She's the best-performing subject of Red Justice. She had also been displaying a lot of good results. If she could wield her full power, she might have a chance to defeat Project Hades."

"Find my daughter. I want to see her before you start reporting that she's dead, too." Qiao Muwei wanted to be relieved, but they actually spoke of pitting her against a monster? She was a soft lady with a heart with no bones. What was she going to do against a heartless creature bound by the need to kill?

Qiao Weilun accepted the order and left. Looking and contacting Qiao Shan was way easier now that her father had arrived. He was hoping she'd feel it and come find her father herself. That would solve his problem of walking around the kill zone.

Actually, that was true. The Qiao Family Head was so strong that it was impossible for Qiao Shan not to detect him when he was washing the Administrative Hall. The moment she felt her father, she decided to rise from the rubble that she felt like sleeping on.

She knew that she couldn't return to the Rooms Hall to seek Li Feng anymore, and so she decided to rest under the rubble of what the Mother had done. The Mother didn't resist her flames. Actually, the dead forest spirit was highly vulnerable to it. However, the Mother was a smart existence. She wrecked the wall and threw debris on Qiao Shan to stop her attack. Afterward, the Mother fled with the two other women.

"Father… I don't want to do it… I can't do it… I just want Li Feng to be with me..." Qiao Shan whimpered as she crawled her way out from the rubble. She could still remember the photos that Li Yunru had thrown into her inbox just for them to get a ticket to the facility. Though most of them were just him smiling and being cool, Li Yunru ended up sending cropped versions of the ones circulating in the girl's dorm.

It was the same body that held against her the night before they came to this wretched place. The same man who was very gentle to her and her fragile body. Even he was actually cleansing her energy as a free service.

"I want my Feng'er..." Qiao Shan murmured again, behaving like a ghost they would see everywhere in a hospital. She started repeating those words as she walked with wobbly steps towards the exit of the Treatment Hall. She arrived at the Lodging Hall that was rather populated as well.

However, since she was walking with a red dress flaying behind her, the nurses and the doctors knew that she was one of those experiments. The soldiers wanted to shoot her, but her hand was quick to use her flames. A cacophony of screams rang in the hallway she trod, but she was only singing a certain set of words.

A strange smile rose to her lips, and her eyes had lost their clarity. Qiao Shan didn't even care if the people around her were civilians. All she knew was that she needed their souls to grow stronger. Her hands burned, and flames sprouted from her palms. The water sprinklers activated, but her flames were inextinguishable. A ghost giggle slipped out of her lips…

Hongfei was rather happy.

Zip. Liu Xiaodan had finished putting his clothes on. He then turned to Chuan Nayi who was still in a daze after what happened. It was not the most ideal place to be drowning in l.u.s.t and p.l.e.a.s.u.r.e, but it could be the last chance they got. Liu Xiaodan then sat next to her and kissed her cheek. "You should stay here. I still have to do a lot of things. Without Guangru, I might not be able to protect you."

"Okay..." Chuan Nayi wanted to come with him, but it was rather impossible. She was too weak and would only be more of a burden to the man. However, she still opted to see him off. That was the only time that she remembered something. "Have you spoken to Ruan Jin yet?"

"...a bit. Don't worry, we have enough time in the future." Liu Xiaodan smiled, but his smile was warm and reassuring. He wasn't going to die, and he would not opt for death. As long as his friends and Chuan Nayi were alive, he didn't want to die. For now, he should look for a way to locate Wu Zhong… and of course, deal with the Black March. Right, maybe he should look for God Raven again…

Still, Liu Xiaodan wanted to go find Guangru. He felt a little guilty that he forgot about this child of his for a few hours because of his fantasies. He then went to find the room where they should be—Ruan Jin and Guangru. Liu Xiaodan took a look and saw that Ruan Jin was sleeping on the bed still… but Li Feng was missing—along with the wooden statue. He then frowned at the black teddy bear.

Liu Xiaodan walked to the black teddy bear and touched it. "Old Xiong, where—?"

He was not ready to watch the black bear fall to the side and onto the floor. It felt so lifeless, and the positive energy of the guardians was only remnants in it. Old Xiong seemed to have vanished? Where did he go? Li Feng was also not here… as well as Guangru.

"Where did they go?" Liu Xiaodan felt scared inside. He was someone who had forgotten fear, but every time he couldn't freely contact Guangru, there was this budding fear inside him. Now that Old Xiong and Li Feng had vanished along with the wooden statue, the father suddenly heard his thumping heart. "What happened here?"

Drip… drip…

Li Feng felt like he was suddenly not sitting anymore. His deep concentration and the closing of his senses brought him to a different place. More importantly, he was held by wooden vines around the waist and around the arms. His wrists were actually pierced by the ends of the vines, and some more were also stuck against his body. It was a strange and horrifying sight.

"...Guangru?" Li Feng's eyes quivered… especially when a pareidolic face surfaced from the bark.
