Chapter 257 - I can't Give You the Dead

Guangru…

As soon as he called out that name, the pareidolic face moved to gaze at him. Unlike the last few times that Li Feng had seen this face, it was rather lifeless and seemingly not intelligent as well. The shaman gritted his teeth and started to struggle from the hold of the vines. However, the roots began to dig closer, causing him to groan as if his wounds were being forced open.

"Guangru! What are you doing?" Li Feng was appalled at the stubborn behavior of the ancient demon. The more he asked to be released, the more the tree held onto him. Soon, the pareidolic face even moved closer to him, one of the roots growing so thick to host the face. It looked at the shaman as if it was wondering what he was saying. At this, Li Feng gradually stopped moving… "You… don't remember me, do you?"

The father then walked around and tried to find even just a glimpse of Li Feng. However, neither the shaman nor the wood statue could be found. He then jogged back to the room where he left Chuan Nayi. "Nayi, when was the last you saw Feng? Did you see a wooden statute in Jin's room?"

"...why? Is Guangru missing?" Chuan Nayi was still in a daze, but the worried look on Liu Xiaodan's eyes quickly traveled towards her. She didn't know why Liu Xiaodan was panicking, but if he needed help in looking, she would lend her eyes. "Have you checked the entire floor?"

"Not really." Liu Xiaodan didn't go in the part where the other people could see him. In the end, they had no choice but to check and ask if someone had seen Li Feng and the wooden statue. Also Jiu Yuanli if they could contact him. "Someone should have seen something..."

Chuan Nayi knocked on the door first and opened the door slowly. She was actually greeted by the gaze of the soldiers and the men who were still awake. They were wrapping Sun Yinxie in another blanket and were about to place him somewhere else. They couldn't keep the dead within the same room as the living after all.

Du Zhizhuo was the first to speak with them. "Xiaodan, Miss Nayi… it looked like you found each other. Listen to me, it seemed like the Black March is almost here—that means this place is about to get messy. Try to find a good place to hide if you're not planning to fight off those nasty things."

"Okay. Have you seen Feng? I can't find him." Liu Xiaodan spoke, and it somewhat made Du Zhizhuo curious. They were all in that room. If Li Feng left, he should be able to… ay, Du Zhizhuo realized that Liu Xiaodan was actually asleep when they found the young men. The soldier only cleared his throat. "Let us finish with disposing of this guy first. Then, I'd come with you to look for him. You can leave Miss Nayi here."

"Disposing?" Liu Xiaodan took a look at the man Mian Qingtao was carrying out of the room. When the other soldier went past them, the father's eyes suddenly glittered. He bit onto his lip, and the blood from the cut on his lips sprayed to the side and produced the big-torso nurse.

As if shocking Mian Qingtao, the nurse blocked his path. The father then ordered as he closed the door behind them. "Let him down."

Mian Qingtao still did so, but he stepped back to get behind Liu Xiaodan who was walking forward. "You're not planning to feed him to your ghost, are you? I mean… he's already dead for hours."

"Dead?" Liu Xiaodan chuckled. "I have been killing humans and dealing with things that are supposed to be dead. I know a dead person when I see them." He then had the nurse produce a big syringe with a needle before getting it high up in the air. "If you don't reveal yourself, I will be very comfortable drawing all your blood out of your body. After staying here for seven years, you should know some important things, Mr. Sun."

"...f.u.c.k you." The wrapped body rolled forward, the nurse actually stepping back to keep it in her range. "I already fooled the goddamn doctors..."

"Sun Yinxie, why are you still trying to escape?" Liu Xiaodan walked towards the rolling wrapped body, but each of his footsteps echoed on the floor. It was rather bone-chilling to the man who was desperately trying to roll away from the people. However, the rolling body was stopped when Liu Xiaodan lightly stomped on his c.h.e.s.t.

"...it's not worth the chase." The father looked down at the face area of the rolling body, and it was as if he could still stare straight into Sun Yinxie's eyes despite the covers wrapped around him. "Sun Yinxie, tell me about this Black March. There's no way a very knowledgeable man like you wouldn't know anything about it." Liu Xiaodan smiled down at the man. "What do you want in exchange?"

Sun Yinxie felt like he was truly going to die now. The child and the shaman earlier didn't even kill him despite the gunshot wounds Li Feng had inflicted on him. Right now though… this father… this Project Hades… Sun Yinxie didn't know if he would be allowed to live after getting in contact with this monster.

Then, he laughed out. "Give me Dr. Fan… and then I'll talk."

"I can't do that. Dr. Fan should have been… hmm… collected?" Liu Xiaodan then shrugged. "I wasn't able to collect her body myself. I can't give you the dead especially when—"

"Bullshit! What do you mean dead?!" Sun Yinxie began to rattle inside the sheets, soon able to rip through the low-quality fabric. He actually managed to draw out a knife he had hidden somewhere. Aiming at Liu Xiaodan's face with its nine-inch blade, Sun Yinxie growled again. "She can't be dead. The facility would never harm her! If it's not you, then who dared kill the lead researcher?!"

Liu Xiaodan's eyes flickered. That look on Sun Yinxie's eyes was somewhat familiar. However, he had to shake his head. He could only rely on the things that Cyclops had gathered while it stayed in the Treatment after he had left. Actually, that was unintentional since he forgot about that King when he left with Guangru. The memories just flooded when he was looking for Li Feng since he thought of recalling Cyclops.

The father reached out and held the blade, uncaring if his fingers got cut from his grip at the blade. "Sergeant Song burned the Sick Hall, and his action must have been twisted by the saboteurs. He had become a wanted person, and everyone seen with him was immediately killed upon sight. The people were led by Mr. Ten. Do you think Mr. Ten would aim his gun at me?"
