Chapter 292 - Blood Grandson

That very murderous light flashing on Liu Xiaodan's eyes suddenly shifted his visage to that monster. Director Sun was shocked, but he didn't want to rattle the beast on his bedside. It was simply not worth it anymore. However, when Liu Xiaodan blinked, the monster was already gone.

He turned to the old man. "Director Sun, I'm still very disappointed in the things I have seen in Cherry Med's deeper doors. If this was before, I would have helped you get life-long protection. Then again, you might just try to survive for a bit. It's just a question of when the Qiao family will try to mess with me.

"I have a feeling you know what will happen if they dared, right?"

Director Sun only nodded. The kind child was still kind even if he had a monster deep inside his mind. The pair of father and son would be hunted down by the Qiao family to silence them or make them responsible for everything that happened to the facility. That was enough torture… and it was yet a slow death for them. Li Xiaodan didn't wish to end it quickly by harvesting them that early.

That was why Director Sun decided to let him on a secret. "Xiaodan, listen to me. Even if you don't want to, just treat this as an old man advising a random young man. Project Hades is not a secret anymore. Even if its name was hidden, all the big families had already discovered that something like you existed. The Mian and Li families might be able to protect you from their people, but big families had ways.

"That young woman from the Ren family visited Yinxie, and I can only tell him to brace from her seduction. The Ren family is not the only one; many others will try to buy you over while some would dare to kill." Director Sun really had a very grave expression. "Having a powerful killing machine of your caliber is akin to having the secret guns of Li Heilong, and you have seen what they can do yourself.

"I'm not in the position to say this, but Mr. Wu really is trying to prepare you for this. When that court case aired, all the families already latched their eyes on you. Sergeant Song didn't plan for it, but his speed was able to take you out of their reach faster than they could join the fun." He didn't find any changes in Liu Xiaodan's expression. "Xiaodan, it's not safe for you… or any of your friends here in the capital."

Liu Xiaodan only had a little impression of that Ren Shanyue, but didn't Chuan Nayi mention the same thing? Wu Zhong tricked Chuan Nayi—no, she wasn't tricked. He framed the truth in a way that Chuan Nayi would understand from his perspective. It did seem like it was true: other families were after him now.

However, he didn't want to run away. He had done that, and they still found ways to make things difficult for him.

In the end, Liu Xiaodan only smiled. "Thanks for the advice, Director Sun, but I'm not going anywhere. If they are as powerful as you said they are, then it wouldn't matter where I go. It's best to be among my friends so I can protect them and keep the big families' eyes on me instead. It will be up to them if they want to feed my friends with the souls of their people."

"...did you really not know Mr. Wu is your grandfather? Why do you sound similar?" Director Sun only cracked a joke he didn't know what insinuated. He was just feeling strange about it. He just had the impression that Liu Xiaodan's parents were not like this because of Liu Xiaodan's kind side.

"I am his blood grandson." Liu Xiaodan sighed a little. Perhaps he really did pick up things from the grandfather's genes. He didn't know that even his grandmother was like that as well.

Liu Xiaodan walked with Li Feng to the parking lot. Ren Shanyue had taken everyone else home earlier before the visiting hours had lapsed. Right now, Li Feng was left to take Liu Xiaodan back to the Mian Residence where he was currently staying with his parents and his mother's maternal family.

His eyes then glittered a little as he saw the silver Audi responding to Li Feng's car remote. He actually checked out all the cars parked at the Mian Residence, and he hadn't seen this one. "Is this new? I didn't see it earlier."

"Yes, it just came today." Li Feng was a little proud as he saw that look in Liu Xiaodan's eyes. "Looks really smooth, no? The kind of car that cool baller protagonists would bring for a good entrance."

"I want one." Liu Xiaodan tested the waters. Li Feng played sugar daddy to Ruan Jin before; he wanted to make off with a car from this senior, too. However, Li Feng only laughed at him: "Do you even know how to drive?"

Oh, what a good opening for an attack. Liu Xiaodan then grinned as they got inside the car, the interior only reinforcing his wanting to own one. "If I get a driver's license, would you get one for me?"

Li Feng raised both brows. He then chuckled as he started the engine. "Hey, hey, Young Master Wu, wait for a few more days and see how much money you can get from his inheritance. I'm pretty sure it's big enough to buy a car on your own. Why ask one from me?"

Silence came from Liu Xiaodan, and then he sighed. "Okay, looks like it's just Jin that takes your fancy. This poor junior can't even have a gift."

"What are you talking about?!" Li Feng growled. Ah, this group of friends!

Another week was quick to pass, and the names of the victims of the Cherry Medical gas leak explosion were released to different families and companies. Since the Wu Corporation still had to work on the papers, the transfer would take another week. Days for those other assets and properties to be distributed to the people who should receive things from Wu Zhong.

However, they were not the main focus of Liu Xiaodan for today. He actually arrived at a cemetery with the Mian family. They were there to visit graves—yes, not just one.

Even if Song Qixi was not formally part of either the Song or the Mian families, Mian Tianni had taken care of him for a long while. She had already treated him as her child as much as she did Mian Yunmi, her own daughter. Also, two more graves were to be visited. It didn't help that they only had tombstones since there were no bodies to burn or bury.
