Chapter 315 - Niannian

It was almost midnight, but Tang Ernian called him out of nowhere. Just when Li Feng thought it was some drunk call or no-brainer one, Tang Ernian actually cried over the phone and asked his peer to save him. At this, even Li Yunru and Qiao Shan grew serious. Li Feng frowned as he walked to collect his car keys from the side. "Where are you? I'm going to get you."

"...home. You don't understand… some… some crazy chick showed up with a bunch of strange shadows and… f.u.c.k, my dad's dead, Feng. Feng, I'm really scared..."

"I'll get there as fast as I can." Li Feng didn't hang up, but he left the room in a run. Qiao Shan actually followed him out. Only Li Yunru was left in the room, but she sent a message to Mian Tianyu, Li Heilong, and Liu Xiaodan.

With an address buried deep within his memory, Li Feng took advantage of the night and drove as fast as he could. However, the nearer he got to the Tang Residence, the harder it became to breathe. Eventually, he stopped at the side and saw the Tang Residence being swallowed up in a black mist. His eyes quivered before looking down at the docked phone with a disconnected call.

Qiao Shan only frowned as she saw the sight. "They deployed the Black March to attack a non-shaman family? What are they thinking?" She could recognize the aura of the summoning arrays even if she couldn't see it. She then turned to Li Feng. "I'll go in first."

"Be careful..." Li Feng actually didn't want to stay in the car, but he was too weak for this. He couldn't even stand against a King—what more against a demon that was the most powerful in this Black March? Since there was a woman mentioned, he figured there was at least one demon leading the assault. Still, why use demons on humans they could kill with a King?

"Why are you still there, Feng'er?" "Big Brother, come with us." "Big Brother, join!"

Li Feng shuddered as he felt the strange auras in the wind that blew through the car. The draft wasn't supposed to happen, but what could he do when it was done by otherworldly things? From his windshield, he could see Qiao Shan summoning Hongfei in the distance. Next to her phased out a Liu Xiaodan with a child in his arms. Two spawned Kings stood guard next to him, and the greater ghosts had pressed on ahead.

What welcomed them outside the Tang Residence was a gathering of white-clothed shamans holding onto the gates that summoned the Black March. Based on Qiao Shan's description, killing the shamans would destabilize the gate and summon more as no one would be regulating their flow. Still, they bravely walked into the place, the winds around Liu Xiaodan exploding into a bone-chilling frost.

"Who's there?!" The lead shaman for tonight's operation turned and saw that Qiao Shan arrived with Liu Xiaodan. At this very sight, he knew that they would only die. However, he could always weaponize the gates. "If it isn't Qiao Shan. Little girl, don't you think you're a bit late?"

"It's fine. It's even better," Liu Xiaodan actually answered as soon as he ghost-walked to the side of the leader. "We'll just kill all the entities you summoned. What faster way is there to deal with your Qiao family…?"

The leader shrieked when he heard the chilling voice almost hissing in his ears. However, when he turned, Liu Xiaodan was already walking to the broken doors of the house. The other shamans couldn't even decide which action to take since moving would result in the gates being wide open while not moving meant becoming food to the Kings spawned by Hades or the demon possessing their former Missy.

Qiao Shan looked ahead and saw that Liu Xiaodan had gone so far ahead. His greater ghosts had entered the premises undetected either. She only took a look at the shamans outside and frowned at them. "You will answer me… or else, I will keep the gates sealed myself. There will be no more need for you to live."

Inside the house, Tang Ernian continued to pray and hide inside the dresser that he climbed into. He hid behind a curtain of clothes and hoped that Li Feng would start receiving his messages. He didn't know why the signal had been abruptly cut, and he was isolated from the outside world.

Earlier, he was still having fun playing his game, but a series of screams interrupted him. Since he was just at the lounge with his mother and his father, he saw them came into the house.

He clearly remembered the terror in his body when that woman showed up in his view. She was very beautiful in a golden hanfu, and yet someone's head sat on her arms. Tang Ernian couldn't even breathe as his jaws shook in fright, his teeth crashing against each row repeatedly. His heart was squeezed within his rib cage as his body froze in the frost the sight had given.

Tang Ernian couldn't help but whimper when the earlier events replayed in his mind so vividly. That strange woman walked continuously as if bringing a horde of monsters in the shadows. The maids were all screaming in other places, and his mother screamed at the sight of the head… as it belonged to his older brother who had just returned that night.

The sound of the doors exploding open continued to slap against his c.h.e.s.t no matter how dull he remembered it. The strange woman only needed to draw her fingers on his frozen father's skin to cut through the flesh and bones smoothly. However, she didn't collect the head.

That was the time when Tang Ernian and his mother ran away to hide. His mother told him to leave through a window from the second floor, but he actually saw more of those crazy things outside the house. He could only retreat inside this dresser and hope for the best. He already called Li Feng, and that should be enough, right?

"...Niannian..." Tang Ernian suddenly heard his mother's voice calling his name. However, the tone was too ghastly like she was scaring him. Moreover, a loud smell of blood suddenly pierced through his nose. When he turned to the side, he was shocked to find his mother poking her head through the clothes, her unfocused eyes not even staring at his face.

"Mom?" Tang Ernian called out, but he realized that something was just holding his mother's body in that direction. Fingers were poking from the sides of her neck.

Tang Ernian started to wet himself. He had been found.
