Based on Liu Xiaodan's story, it was so easy to be bullied in prison if one stood out too much. Since Liu Xiaodan lied about this case to those who met him, he was seen as some kind of weakling and was generally left alone for the span of his stay. The same happened in Cherry Medical, and he worked so hard to be so behaved in both places. He was so disconnected from the two places that he barely had an opinion of them.
Hung Guangjian had no copy of the release order from the judge or records from Wangguan. There was simply no way for him to know the truth—or realize that Liu Xiaodan learned how to lie through his teeth while in those places. The detective could only rely on his instincts to strive and yet fail without him knowing.
However, by the way, Liu Xiaodan described his days in both Wangguan and Cherry Medical; Hung Guangjian started to doubt that this man was the one they saw back at the court hearing.
That man was a murderer and a psychotic maniac that could convince people that he could kill remotely. He even went his way to fabricating a story of a child that would do the dirty job. Hung Guangjian was about to dismiss his fears when he remembered that he had even seen the dirty things that he had once thought of as peak imagination. For him to quickly forget and…?
"...a child?" Hung Guangjian didn't realize Guangru's presence until earlier. It was the child's fault for sitting on the floor next to Liu Xiaodan, completely hidden from plain sight. Now that the detective noticed him, the child only smiled back at the older male.
"What child?" With a twitch, Liu Xiaodan followed Hung Guangjian's frozen gaze and winked at Guangru.
At those words, Hung Guangjian quickly averted his gaze from the little boy at the side and pulled on the lapel of his coat. He glanced at the child again, but this glance was enough for him to memorize Guangru's features. For a moment, he really wanted to cross-reference the court proceedings. Liu Xiaodan was said to be working with a child, and so Hung Guangjian should find out if this was the same one.
He then cleared his throat. "Sorry, I thought I was hearing some child in the hallway. Ehem. I hope you don't find it strange to be taken here again. After all, your record is too dark."
"I don't mind. I was expecting it when they ran into me earlier." Liu Xiaodan then hummed. "Did you tell my parents not to worry or that I'm not in real trouble? My mother's heart is weak. She might be the one getting in trouble if something happened to her heart."
"Don't worry. We gave them all that they needed to know, and that included the fact that you were detained solely because of your record and that you were in a suspicious place." Hung Guangjian nodded as if understanding what Liu Xiaodan meant. "So, will I be expecting a full recovery from you? No more ghost nonsense or deaths caused by your friend?"
Liu Xiaodan only smiled. He didn't nod or shake his head, neither assenting nor denying the notion. It was simply too much lying if he said something like that to a detective.
Knocks then came to the door, and the officer said that Wu Qianqian and Liu Li had arrived. The detective got to his feet and led Liu Xiaodan to meet his parents. The mother automatically smiled at the sight of her son, the son acting embarrassed.
Hung Guangjian spoke with Liu Li for a few seconds to clarify their need to detain the young man. Even if the fear was not unfounded, Liu Li still wished they didn't have to do it at all.
It's just that…
"Detective Hung!" One of the other detectives yelled from his cubicle and ran off to meet the detective speaking with those who were collecting a dangerous man. However, he didn't care if it was Liu Xiaodan. "Detective Hung! The Xie family called and said that someone was committing a massacre in their family residence!"
"Dammit, not again." Hung Guangjian growled and excused himself from the people he was talking to. He then called on someone to see them off outside the station.
Liu Li held onto his son to take him out instead of letting him stay for another minute and hear more of the conversation. Who knew if Liu Xiaodan jumped into trouble again? Didn't he know that his parents were scared of what happened to the Tang family?
"I feel a bad feeling welling up from that man. What could have happened that made him feel so scared?" Shanhu barked, but her voice traveled to Liu Xiaodan's mind. It was as if she was more likely just chatting with him.
Liu Xiaodan couldn't answer. He didn't know if the dog could hear his thoughts, but he certainly couldn't speak to her openly as well. She was just a dog to his parents; they mustn't know that they were basically semi-deity guardians so Lanlu would have his punishment.
In the end, he only took note of the commotion as everyone started alerting everyone else to come save the Xie family. It's just that… when Liu Xiaodan saw the officers leaving, unknowingly facing demons from the Black March; he figured he shouldn't really be standing there without doing anything at all.
"Feng…" Liu Xiaodan already dialed Li Feng's number as he walked out of the police station, and he spoke when the recipient picked up the call, "The Xie family is getting attacked tonight. I'm going."
"Xiaodan…" Wu Qianqian felt terror when she heard it from Liu Xiaodan. They really didn't want Liu Xiaodan to be out there doing dangerous things.
"...do you need help?" That was only Li Feng's response, which made Liu Xiaodan lift his brows. He just expected Li Feng to react more aggressively—just like what happened in the Tang Residence. However, the transcendent didn't dwell on it much further. He just answered without a hint of curiosity, "Cover my a.s.s from the shamans."
After hanging up, Liu Xiaodan turned to his parents, especially at Liu Li's disapproving look. This young man ended up going even if the father tried to stop this son of his.
Liu Xiaodan then smiled at them. "Mom, Dad, if you have the capability, will you not go save these people rushing to their deaths? I know I should keep away, but I have already known of the event. If it's just the Xie family, I can convince myself that I am not aware.
"But I saw those policemen rushing there to get killed, and I felt obliged to help. I can't win over my conscience about this—you raised me like that. I can't say I didn't go because I was too weak to deal with it either. Don't worry, I'll take my theory test tomorrow and then come back home."
