Chapter 330 - Evidence

"Buy peaches for me, too." Shanhu joined in, and Liu Xiaodan only made an excuse. "I'll also bring you peaches from the Mian Residence. They actually have tons of fruit-bearing peach trees."

Then again, Mian Tianyi did say the dropped peaches were about to ripen, and Liu Xiaodan should give some to Wu Qianqian. Well, he only remembered when Shanhu mentioned the peaches. At these words, the dog's eyes started to glitter as she realized that a shaman residence couldn't be less purified than a temple.

She then chuckled. "Remember not to give Lanlu any."

...

In the Mian Residence, the Xie family had actually placed in a call. Mian Tianyu had quickly mobilized the shamans to try and mitigate the effects of the attack. The most powerful of the shamans might be able to take down a demon as long as they worked together.

Of course, Mian Tianyu still prayed that the demon wouldn't try to engage with them. However, Li Feng missed him just as soon as their cars had left.

"...you don't have to go anymore, Grandfather." Li Feng sighed as he saw the cars speeding away in the distance. If only Liu Xiaodan called earlier, he would have relayed the information sooner. Then again, it was probably better that he didn't have to speak with his grandfather in just his sleeping robe.

He placed the phone to his ear. "Xiaodan, Grandfather is coming over there. Just try not to provoke anyone. I can only save you in the morning."

...

Unlike back in the Tang Residence, the vicinity in the Xie Residence was so loud. Tons of ambulances had been parked there, and police mobiles had blocked the area. It was easy to tell that something big and tragic had already happened in the area. However, the dreaded black mist was no longer there. The Black March seemed to have subsided already.

Mian Tianyu walked up to the officers who were only standing behind the protection of their mobiles. They had their guns at the ready, but they didn't seem to be aiming at anything… out of fear that it would attack them.

When Mian Tianyu took a look, it was because Cyclops was right in front of them. The multi-eyed King was blocking the figure of that young man who was watching the burning residence.

From the burning entrance that was also covered in smoke, some officers are getting the wounded out. It seemed that no demon came today… simply because people were still alive.

The wounded continued to wail in pain and in the terror of what they had seen. They could only be taken to the ambulances which couldn't just leave to rush all the patients since more kept on coming from inside. It seemed that they could only rush the severely wounded to the hospital.

Seeing that a huge cloud of negativity was building among the wounded and the shaken officers, Mian Tianyu told the shamans to cleanse the place slowly. The fire still raged even if the Black March had gone away after all.

"What's…? It's Mian Tianyu." Hung Guangjian was actually watching from a side, and so he was able to see the people moving in and suddenly chanting.

He was wounded by one of the greater ghosts, but he was saved by that particular spirit with a huge eye. He then grabbed a passing officer. "Get someone to call that master shaman over."

"Detective Hung, do you not need to be confined?" Mian Tianyu spoke as soon as he saw the wound that was being patched up on the spot. The detective's face was pale, but one could tell that it was not solely from the possible blood loss induced by the wound. Neither was it solely from the sight of what had happened here in the Xie Residence; else, he wounded be so frozen.

The EMT working on the detective's wound only shook his head. "He needs to go to the hospital because this requires stitches, but he doesn't want to leave until everyone is gotten out of the burning house." He then noticed that Liu Xiaodan was headed their way as well. "Detective…"

Mian Tianyu and Hung Guangjian watched Liu Xiaodan approach them. Both older males didn't know how to speak to him right now. One was totally shocked at what had happened while the other didn't know how to ask about the Qiao shamans. In the end, Liu Xiaodan got close with a smile on his face as if greeting them both.

However, that very calm and ghastly smile he had on his lips, combined with the waning moonlight overhead that darkened his visage, was exceptionally creepy to everyone who saw it.

The transcendent didn't care about their fears and started speaking, "Master Mian, you're late again, but you don't have to worry about the culprits. This time, they just left the gates open and fled for their lives—"

"What?!" Mian Tianyu gasped aloud as if it was a very grave sin to be done. In fact, it was. If no one destroyed those gates, then the community would be in peril. In a commanding tone that he couldn't help but use, Mian Tianyu asked the young man, "Do you have evidence of this?"

"Detective Hung arrived earlier than I did. He must have seen the gates." Liu Xiaodan didn't care if he was being almost yelled at by the old man. To be honest, he had heard the consequences of this action from Qiao Shan.

That was why, when he came, he instantly summoned the swamp creature to slam the gates broken while the other Kings were to scout the burning residence. Cyclops was left to protect him, just in case the terrified policemen started shooting him. Unlike in the facility, he couldn't persuade the officers not to shoot at him—a very suspicious individual.

However, these actions only showed Hung Guangjian that he was not going to make a recovery. In fact, he had become worse after staying in Hell where demons were allowed to be demons.

"...testimonies from uniformed men aren't normally accepted by the Shaman Association court as they tended to go through a process of extreme denial first. Most things they said they saw were already too desaturated despite their incredible senses." Mian Tianyu cleared his throat. "Worry not, perhaps someone from the Xie family should see things. After all, calling us would mean they figured it was occult in nature."

"You're building a case against the Qiao family?" Liu Xiaodan casually asked, but Mian Tianyu only stared at him with a silencing gaze. How could they possibly talk about this in front of a policeman? What would they do if they got more 'non-combatants' involved in this battle?

Hung Guangjian then reached out, not caring if a master shaman could be lightly touched. Still, he didn't want Mian Tianyu running away from him without answering his question. "Mian Tianyu, are you… working with this boy? Did you turn Liu Xiaodan into… that?"
