Chapter 611 - 198: It Sounds Strange

The post was the hottest on the first day of the Miss Gorgeous pageant. The forum almost couldn't work because of it. But girls in the vote seemed cool and didn't leave any comments.

Pearl and Iris lived out of campus. They were talking about the contest. They didn't have to worry about it because Pearl always won. Nor did they need to use any tricks since Pearl was gorgeous and confident.

But Catherine was in the pageant too.

"Why don't we hire people to vote for you?"

Iris couldn't get worried, seeing Catherine's votes were getting closer and closer to hers. She was terrified that Catherine would replace her.

"We don't."

"But it will be so embarrassing if Catherine wins the vote."

Pearl said calmly, "There's no need for what you just suggested. Let's wait and see. I'm sure my fans will support me."

"You're right. It's too arrogant of Catherine to compete with you as a freshman, just because of her good looks."

Pearl wondered if they were good looks, why Sean was more interested in Catherine than her. She was impressed with Catherine's peac.o.c.k dance the other day. She pretended to look down on it. But she had to say Catherine had a flexible body. She wouldn't make her dance moves. The classical and graceful dance was her type. She knew nothing about exotic dances. One reason was she didn't like it, and the other was it was difficult.

"Pearl, do you want me to withdraw the post?"

"It's okay. The more they talk about it, the more publicity I have."

Besides, Pearl needed more people to know who Catherine was and what she looked like. The higher she stood, the more pain she suffered when she fell.

"Pearl, Sean cut my allowance to half."

"Why?"

"What happened the other day? I thought he knew something."

Pearl kept her lips pursed and didn't answer. Sean must see through her little trick. But he didn't say anything to warn her off. Why? Pearl wondered, was it because he didn't want to see her, or he looked down on her? She couldn't help getting depressed at both answers.

"Sean is overprotective of that bitch!" Iris said.

"Forget about it."

Catherine couldn't care less about the Miss Gorgeous vote, while Iris and Pearl couldn't stress it enough. She'd forget all about it if Ethel didn't give her a daily upgrade of the vote.

"Our Catherine falls behind almost 800 votes."

"Yeah. That's a lot to catch up."

"Do you know guys on campus are stupid? Or why didn't they vote Catherine?"

Catherine didn't know what to say. Only her friends thought she was a beautiful one. She knew Pearl was actually the good-looking one.

"Forget about it. The contest is meaningless."

"You just don't appreciate it."

Catherine rolled her eyes and said, "What do you mean? What's so fun about being talked about behind your back every day? It's so annoying."

"Hey, they all fight for the honor, and you couldn't care less about it. Look, there are comments drumming upvotes."

Although Catherine's class didn't organize a campaign, the class monitor has made it clear to her classmates to vote for Catherine. This was an incredible honor if being chosen.

"Why don't we organize a campaign?"

"Why bother? Sophomore and seniors would choose Pearl."

Catherine refused the suggestion because she thought it was cheating. Besides, Catherine hated the attention.

"Catherine, do you know what they call you?"

"What?"

"The queen of the peac.o.c.k!"

Catherine said, "It sounds strange."

"It's because your peac.o.c.k dance was impressive."

"But Sophia was in it too."

Sophia got a lot of votes and ranked fourth. The most attractive part was her eyes and indifferent look. She was gorgeous in a way, making one feel distant.

The vote ended three days later. Every student in the college had the right to vote. Whoever had the highest votes won Miss Gorgeous.

Catherine and Pearl were the most prospective contestants. Then Pearl got so many votes suddenly, especially on the third day.

Ethel thought Pearl hired people to vote, or she wouldn't have almost thousands of votes more than Catherine.

"This is your last day. A long shot at winning."

Catherine still couldn't care less about it. Her friends were so worried, but there was nothing they could do.

"Look, Cecil, Catherine suddenly has 500 votes!"

"Yeah. Don't let go of the F5 button."

Ethel kept refreshing and said, "Another 200!"

"It's growing so fast. I'd assume Catherine also hired people to vote for her. But we all know she isn't interested in this."

Catherine was speechless.

"Another 200! Catherine, you almost have the same votes as Pearl!"

"Hey, slow down. It's not as exciting as a football match." Catherine said.

Ethel suddenly screamed, "Pearl's votes are growing madly too. What the hell?"

There was a surge in both votes as if it was the matching point, and both parties were giving their final efforts to see who could win.

"Hey, I'm going to lunch. Do you want anything?" asked Catherine.

"Sure. I have to keep an eye on the computer." Ethel said.

Anna went to the dining hall with Catherine at last.

Unluckily, Catherine ran into Dale and Dave.

"Hello, Catherine."

"Hi, guys."

"We all voted for you. I think you're gonna win."

Catherine didn't know what to say.

"This is boring."

"That's what Ken said."

Dale mimicked Ken's voice and said, "This is boring."

Dave added, "But he voted Sophia." Then he pointed at Dale.

Dale looked away.

"I don't know who came up with the vote. But you guys don't have to take it seriously."

"How couldn't we? Everyone in school knows about it."

"If you like it, you can have it." Catherine joked.

Dave asked after Catherine and Anna left, "Was I being teased?"

"Of course."

Dave was speechless.

In the last hour, the forum was so hot. Everyone was betting who could win Miss Gorgeous. The third-place didn't have enough votes to compete with either of them.

When the clock struck 12 o'clock, the vote ended. Catherine won with 109 votes more than Pearl.
