Chapter 774 - 99: There Will Be A Way

Angelo felt a sense of compassion for the employee after hearing him. It was all because of her fear of dogs, she thought, it wasn't the man's fault.

So, she grabbed Drake's hand and wanted to talk for the man, but Drake suddenly shook off her hands, turned, and left.

Looking at the hands, Angelo was stunned and lost.

Seeing that, the employee knew that he had to leave. His face was full of regret.

Looking at the back of the man, Angelo felt sorry for him. She thought about it and said, "Well, I'm sorry."

Hearing her, the employee stopped and then went to the financial office.

Angelo, however, was plunged into self-blame. Thinking of Drake's move just now, she gave a long sigh. It was just touching, why did he act so fiercely? She couldn't get it. But he seemed quite angry, so she'd better think of a way to coax him.

But it wasn't the right time to think about that, what she should do now was to know the operation here. Drake, however, wasn't here, so nobody was guiding her. Angelo was a little embarrassed.

"Well, forget about it. There will be a way," Angelo mumbled.

She wandered around and later came to a construction site.

"I heard the resort had finished construction, but why are they still constructing?"

Looking at the ruins in the distance, Angelo was puzzled when someone patted her on the shoulder. She was frightened and suddenly turned around.

"I've never seen you before. You must be new here, are you?"

A man who looked like a foreman glanced up and down at her. As he saw her thin shoulders, he said in disdain, "They are crazy to hire you. Well, it has nothing to do with us anyway."

Hearing the mumble, Angelo was confused, thinking that there must be something wrong here. As the head of the resort, she thought she should figure it out.

Thinking like that, she gave a kind smile and nodded to the foreman. Then she scratched her head and looked quite naïve.

"Yeah, life, you know. I came over to try my luck. Well, it seems that I have good luck."

Angelo acted like a young man who just came to work.

"All right, boy. Go get a helmet and come to play cards with us."

After that, the foreman turned to leave. Angelo was surprised when she heard that. She had never worked as a worker, but she knew that it wasn't the resting time now. The workers should be working now, but they were playing cards, which was weird.

The more she thought about it, the more she was confused. Following the man's order, she got a helmet and went to the room.

The foreman was among a group of workers who were playing cards. Angelo spotted him and went to him.

The foreman raised to look at her, then a look of resignation appeared on his face. He reached out to straighten her helmet and mumbled, "They did recruit anyone. You don't even know how to wear the helmet."

Angelo was confused when she heard him. She used to wear a helmet like this during the shooting.

"They wear helmets like this on TV, don't they?" she asked.

Hearing that, the foreman gave out a card with a sneer on his face and said carelessly, "TV? Do you believe that? Forget about it. It doesn't matter even if you don't wear it now. We don't work anyway."

Just then, one worker gave out a piece of card.

"Ace," said the foreman. He put down his cards and looked quite happy.

"You do have good luck today. All right. Let's call it here."

Several men said, put the cards down, and left. Seeing that, Angelo squinted and thought of the reason she came here.

"I don't get it, brother. We should work at this time, don't we? But why are we playing cards here?"

A hint of suspicious look appeared in the foreman's eyes when he heard Angelo. He raised to look at her and asked seriously, "Why do you ask that?"

As soon as he finished his words, everyone was quiet. They stared at Angelo and wondered if she was a reporter. They enjoyed the present life and didn't want anyone to ruin it.

Angelo noticed that her words had aroused their suspicion. She was a little anxious but soon thought of something and hurried to explain, "No, no. I'm just worried about my salary. You know I come for money. I'm afraid they won't pay me if I play cards instead of working here."

With that, she gave a sad face, and tears filled in her eyes. Now, she just looked like a poor thin young man.

The workers dispersed when they heard that. The foreman smiled, and he went up and patted on Angelo's shoulder.

"Don't worry. Although we don't work, we are paid. So, you are lucky to be here."

As soon as he finished his words, the workers nodded. For them, it was indeed a great thing to get money without working.

"But I don't understand. Which boss would do that?" asked Angelo.

The foreman laughed when he heard that. Then he held Angelo's shoulder and sat down.

"Well, you don't know. All right, I'm in a good mood today. I can tell you."

Hearing that, Angelo held her impulse to get rid of the foreman's hand and nodded, looking like an obedient boy.

"The resort is in charge of the decoration here. As long as we don't finish the decorating, the boss here can ask for money from the parent company. You know, it's a lot of money."

Hearing that, Angelo understood everything. She got angry. The company was paying for a bunch of worms, she thought.

Just then, the foreman thought of something and asked, "By the way, what's your name?"

Angelo repressed all her emotions and gave an obedient look.

"Angelo Watts's," she answered.

"Angelo Watts's?" the foreman mumbled.

Soon, he seemed to think of something and looked at Angelo.

"I heard the new manager is also named Angelo."

Hearing that, Angelo knew it was not good. She gave a lamely smile and explained, "You must remember it wrong. He's from the Thorne, and he can't name Watts's."

But as soon as she finished her words, she knew she said the wrong words again. She pushed the foreman's hands away and cautiously walked away.

"How do you know the manager is from the Thorne?"
