Chapter 840 - 165: You Don’t Need To Say Sorry

It took a while for Jeremy to take the news. He didn't even notice when Christina hung up.

No wonder Angeline twittered like that. He had thought Christina bullied Angeline but didn't expect it to relate to Drake.

Suddenly, the fire of hope rekindled in his heart.

He had suppressed his love for Angeline after knowing that she was engaged to Drake. But now, his affections grow up as the grass after the spring rain.

He was not the only one to know it. Clarence also heard the news. But no matter what, he just couldn't get in touch with Angeline like the last time.

Angelo took one day off. When her eyes got better, she devoted herself to revenge. She wondered if even god was helping her cause the Watts group had been in trouble recently. Many senior managers had left the company, and they even left with a lot of contacts acc.u.mulated these years.

Employees left, and new ones should take these positions. But no one was willing to come when they heard the name of the Watts group.

Angelo didn't know that all these were plans of Drake. She asked Stella to get the confidential files. If it were possible, she would try to get thirty percent of shares from Parker. Without the shares, Parker had nothing.

The Watts family didn't guard against Stella. After all, they needed her heart. So, as long as she didn't go out, she could do whatever she wanted.

Stella found many secret files except any proof of ownership.

Angelo read the files in the room and found that the Watts group was worse than it looked. There was even tax evasion and accounting fraud.

"It seems that I don't need to do anything but just wait for the company to close," said Angelo with a bitter smile.

McCoy looked at her and suddenly asked, "Did anything happen to you?"

Angelo stayed and looked at him in confusion, "What?"

"You are different from before."

Angelo's face froze. She knew he was good at observing but didn't expect that he could see her through.

"Yeah. There was something. But it was gone. Just forget about it."

It was also an excuse she said to herself to stop thinking about Drake although she had to meet him and eat with him every day.

She felt that she almost couldn't play the roles. Every time she faced Drake as Angelo, she couldn't help thinking of the dissolution of their engagement. At this moment, she felt that she couldn't stay at this house anymore.

So, these days, she had been staying out late before going back.

When Drake asked her, she said she was busy with things of the Watts family. She also said that she had no worries since she was the adoptive son of the Watts family, but Angeline had no support, and she had to gain a place in the Watts family.

Every time she mentioned Angeline, Drake would stop asking. It seemed that he didn't even want to hear her name.

Angelo thought that was good. At least she needn't change her identities a lot, nor need she worried about exposing herself.

One evening when Angelo got back, the lights were still on.

She was puzzled. Hale usually kept one light for her, but all the lights were on this evening.

When Angelo entered the living room, the atmosphere seemed a little heavy. As she was about to ask, she saw Corrine sitting on the sofa.

"Grandma!" shouted Angelo in a cheerful voice. Then she trotted to her.

There used to be anger on Corrine's face, which turned tender when she saw Angelo.

She held Angelo's hand and patted it, "I know it was Drake's fault. Please tell Angeline that I'm sorry."

Angelo felt sore in her nose. It turned out that Corrine came back for this matter.

"She's fine now. You don't need to say sorry."

Angelo kept her head low in case Corrine see the tears in her eyes.

However, Corrine noticed that and said with regret, "Don't worry. I love Angeline. We will take good care of her."

"Thank you, grandma. But…" Angelo hesitated, wasn't sure how to say it.

She had suffered the pain twice and was scared. She wasn't longing for it anymore.

A figure appeared on the stairs. Angelo knew that it was Drake without turning to look.

She held a breath and said, "Angeline doesn't love Drake. So, let's forget it. Besides, she is a public figure. Things like this might be the less, the better."

Drake stayed. Anger appeared on Corrine's face again when she saw him.

"Do you hear that Drake?" she asked.

Drake walked up and glanced over Angelo. She had been avoiding him recently. He knew that.

He had known what he wanted. Although he had no experience in love, he knew he loved Angelo rather than Angeline.

He wouldn't have got close to Angeline if it hadn't been for her similar look to Angelo. Even if he was engaged to her, the engagement was just a piece of paper to him if he didn't want her.

It was not too late now. So, he could stop here with Angeline.

"I'm sorry," apologized Drake.

Angelo stayed and looked at Drake with disbelief.

"I know what I am doing. I have my plans. Glamor will give her the best resources. She won't be mistreated."

Hearing that, Angelo became unhappy. She was an actress with strong ability, and in her last life, it was her hard work that gained her every award.

She didn't need their help!

Angelo didn't look at Drake but complained, "I believe that my sister could get everything with her ability. She didn't need others' help."

What she meant was that she didn't want Drake's compensation.

Saying Angelo defended Angeline, Drake felt bitter. He shouldn't suppress his affections for Angelo from the start, nor should he take Angeline as a replacement for Angelo.

Why did he do that then?

He knew Angelo and Angeline were two people, but he could always see part of Angelo on Angeline, which made him think that he loved Angeline, too. But now, he found that he didn't love Angeline but her face, the same face as Angelo.
