96 Patron or not pt2

The duo of father and daughter had turned towards Draig upon hearing the snort.

"Is there something wrong" asked Yuki's father oddly.

"Yes, it seems you have some kind of misconception about the relationship between us. Never have I said I wish to align myself with you" answered Draig with a shake of his head though Yuki seemed to remember that she had indeed made an offer in the form of assisting with the Vampire becoming a Deva.

"Lad, surely you don't hold a grudge over a few words spoken out of ignorance" smiled Yuki's father though you could see that his smile was a bit strained.

"This is about becoming a Deva" asked Yuki looking at Draig seriously.

"That is the case, I wish to learn to harness this inner energy and form an avatar to become a Deva" answered Draig in the affirmative.

Yuki's father heard this and turned a crooked gaze towards Yuki after hearing this, the clans had their own way or channeling their Inner energy that had been perfected for generations and it was not something that could be given to outsiders. If the clan's did give an outsider access then that person would end up doomed to reside with the clan til the day they died.

"I am afraid that Yuki has misled you, our techniques and swordsmanship cannot be taught to outsiders..." explained Yuki's father while thinking of another way to keep Draig as his Talismans would prove to be a unique benefit only available in their clan if he could keep the Vampire.

"I do not wish to learn your techniques, I was told I would be able to learn to channel Inner energy and taught to form an Avatar. If this is out of your capabilities then I will go as there will be no point for me to be here" stated Draig causing Yuki to look towards her father.

"I see... then you merely wish to learn the ways of a Deva and forge your own path" asked Yuki's father with a raised brow.

"That is the case, it does not matter where I go to learn these things as long as I am able to learn" stated Draig waiting to hear the answer.

"Then this should be acceptable, though I will require that you dwell in the compound while you do this" stated Yuki's father as he didn't wish someone to steal Draig's ability from his clan.

"That would be most welcome but I would need this in writing" stated Draig with a nod, he didn't have a place to live so this would prove very convenient for his situation.

"I will have a contract drawn up immediately, Yuki escort him to the guest house" commanded the girl's father while he stood and sent for someone while returning to whatever it was he was doing before.

Draig followed Yuki to a quiet little building by itself, the building looked more like a renovated storage shed causing him to look at the girl oddly.

"This is where your guests stay" asked Draig skeptically.

"Our trainees stay in similar houses and they are guests to the clan too" explained Yuki causing Draig some confusion.

"I thought outsiders weren't allowed to learn your clan's secrets" asked Draig causing Yuki to nod.

"That is true but like you they have come to learn the basics and attempt forging their own path but not many succeed, those who fail become guards for the clan under the supervision of a retired Deva while those who succeed pay homage to the clan by offering a percentage of their monthly stipend. This is how the clans assist in keeping the number of Devas plentiful while also maintaining our authority" explained Yuki looking into the distance as if contemplating her next words.

"Then what if they refuse to pay this percentage" asked Draig curiously as it was certain that someone had to have tried to reject this idea.

"They are worked to death" stated Yuki a bit ominously.

Draig then had a thought.

"You don't expect me to agree to this same trend" asked Draig as he looked at the girl with a narrowed gaze causing Yuki to flinch instinctually, it was as if she was face to face with a blood thirsty devil when the Vampire laid his eyes on her.

'Personification' thought Yuki with a sweat, personification was the step before forming one's avatar. She was certain Draig had never trained in the art of the Deva meaning that there was serious potential hidden away within him, little did she know though that she was talking to a real Devil indeed.

"O-of course not, if you will excuse me I must speak with Father." spoke Yuki quickly displaying a bit above average speed as dashed away.

Draig sneered, they would regret it if they tried similar tactics with him. He hadn't trained as a boy in his old world and now that he was reverted to a child if he trained with his Vampiric body then his old capabilities would seem like a chicken before a tiger.

'Mortals always so treacherous' thought Draig entering the small abode which he found to be rather clean on the inside as compared to it's outer appearance.

However Draig was still wary after hearing of the consequences for those under the thumb of clans and proceeded to paint his runes along the surface of the inside of the building until he found he had run out of ink.

'Damn, this is such a waste. If I were to run out of ink and talismans in battle then I would be little more than a sitting duck especially with my childish body. It is simple to fight off those untrained mortals but for these Deva to be able to fight demons then they must possess incredible strength the likes of which I can't compete with until I regain my former physical attributes and revealing my transformation would prove fatal because of its figure.' thought Draig as he bit his finger and used his blood to continue writing while thinking of a way to place his runes in a more efficient manner.
