The next morning, my Dad, Shawna, Hailey, Sam, and I went to the graveyard to see Tracie. I led them up to Tracie, who was at that time talking to Jason's dad. I had noticed that Tracie's eyes were watery, so I held back from walking up to her until she was done talking to Jason's dad.
"Devin, why are you not walking up to Tracie?" Roger asked me.
"Well, do you see that guy up there?" I asked him. He looked up to where Tracie was, "That man, is Jason's Dad. I know you two haven't met, but also look at her eyes. She is currently crying."
"I get it now son. Let's wait until they look at other people." He told me.
We waited for a few minutes, in that time frame a few more people showed up. Zack and Tj's family, Zach and Cassidy, Tori, and a few of our other friends also showed up. When I looked back over, that is when Tracie saw us. She motioned for us to come over to her.
"Hey Tracie, hey Myrll. How are you guys handling this today?" I asked both of them.
"Barely, it is quite rough doing this. . ." Tracie commented to me.
"Hey kid, it is quite hard honestly. I wasn't expecting to have to bury one of my kids today. . ." Myrll said to me with tears clearly on his face.
"Hey Tracie, I'm sorry for your loss. . . Also hello there Myrll, I'm Roger, Devin's father." Roger walked up to Tracie and hugged her. Myrll waited for my Dad to turn towards him, then shook his hand. "Nice meeting you, sadly on a bad day. . ."
"Indeed it is a bad day, I'm sorry for your loss." My dad commented.
Shawna and the girls walked up to Tracie, and gave her a hug. I couldn't hear what they told her, because I was listening to my Dad and Jason's Dad talk. After they got done with talking, we went, and sat down at the chairs around the grave. I noticed that Jason was indeed cremated, so luckily we won't have to look at him after the truck hit him. From what I was told, it was pretty bad. A few more people started showing up, I noticed that Jason's brothers, and sister also showed up. I also noticed Jason's Grandma, Aunt, and adopted sister show up. I couldn't remember what her name was though. We only met once in the years I've known Jason. He told me she went into the Army by the time he joined High School.
"Hey Grandson, how are you doing." Jason's Grandma said to me while sitting down next to us.
"Hey Grandma Maggie, I'm doing alright. How are you and Aunt Chrissy handling this? I know it must be pretty hard." I asked her.
"Honestly it is. . . Just there isn't anything I could do right now." Maggie said to me.
"Just hang in there alright." I told her while giving her a hug.
I got up, and walked over to where Aunt Chrissy was.
"Hey Chrissy, how are you holding up?" I asked her, I had noticed she was crying so I decided to give her a hug too.
"Sniff. . . Sniff. . . Thank you Devin, this helps a lot. . ." She said while trying to keep herself from crying again.
"You're welcome Chrissy. . ." I said to her while letting go of her.
"It has been a while hasn't Devin." The girl next to Chrissy commented.
"Yes it has, and I would like to apologize. I honestly can't remember your name. . ." I said to her.
"It's ok. My name is Kaitlyn." She told me.
"Oh yeah! That's right. . . I'm sorry again for forgetting your name. This week has been pretty hard for me, especially for Tracie." I told Kaitlyn.
"I can understand that. . . Do you know who did it?" Kaitlyn then asked me.
"As far as I know, it was a truck driver. He was driving with an expired driver's license." I told her while looking around the place. I could see a few more people coming into the graveyard, but I couldn't tell who they were yet.
"Hmm. . . Hopefully that fuċker gets what he deserves. I wish that guy would have died instead of Jason. . ." Kaitlyn commented quietly.
"Same here, but he will be going to jail. No way around it." I told her.
"I hope so. . . Anyways, I think you should go back, and sit down. The pastor is walking up to Tracie right now." She told me while pointing behind me.
I turned around, and I saw the Pastor at that point talking to Tracie. She still looked pretty upset, but was able to hold it in. The Pastor then had her go, and sit down next to Myrll and his kids. The Pastor then turned to everyone, and waited while everyone took their seats.
"Good morning to all of you present today. I'm Pastor Richardson, and I'll be doing the sermon today.
On behalf of the family, I would like to thank all of you for coming out today.
I'm honored to stand before you to conduct this service.
When someone we love dies unexpectedly, there is a tremendous amount of shock.
When a family member or a friend is suddenly no longer with us, it can trigger very strong reactions, emotions, and questions.
We are here today as the people of God to find comfort in the truth of Scripture, and especially to surround Jason with our love, our faith, and our prayers.
If I could summarize the purpose of this service, I beli. . ."
After this part of the sermon, I ended up getting really drowsy all of a sudden. When I finally blacked out, I opened my eyes expecting to see the Pastor. Instead I saw Jason right in front of me, and what I saw next freaked me out a little bit. I saw Jason killing a couple of wolves right in front of me. He also had tears running down the side of his face. After he killed them, he yelled. I could actually hear him!
"Devin! Why did you have to die!! This isn't right! Only I was supposed to die!!!" Jason yelled while tears were running down the side of his cheeks.
--Jason! I'm right here in front of you!-- I tried telling him.
I tried with all my might to get him to pay attention to me, but it was like there was a veil in between us. He couldn't hear a word from me at all. Then I started blacking out again, once I opened my eyes. I could finally hear the Pastor again, except it sounded like he was about done.
". . .ouse in which he lived. We acknowledge that Jason is rejoicing, even now, in Your very presence, enjoying the blessings of Heaven.
Father, we commit his body to the earth, from which our bodies were originally created, and we rejoice in the fact that his spirit is even now with You, the Father of spirits.
We anticipate the day when spirit and body shall be united again at the coming of the Lord, and we find great comfort in knowing that we shall forever be together with the Lord.
We thank You Father, that in the days, weeks, and months to come, these realities and the abiding presence of Your Spirit will especially strengthen, sustain, and comfort Jason's friends and family.
IN JESUS' NAME, AMEN.
After his sermon was done, I looked around to see if anyone saw what had happened to me. Sadly, it seemed no one was paying any attention to me at all. After I noticed no one paying attention to me, we all stood up, and started walking to where Jason's cremation jar was. We each grabbed a flower from a bouquet of flowers at the end of the chairs. I ended up waiting for a few minutes until it was my turn to throw the flower into the small hole in the ground. I walked next to Tracie to give her another hug, and I whispered into her ear.
"I need to talk to you, it is urgent! It is about Jason." I whispered to her, then I leaned back and said, "Tracie I'm really sorry for your loss, I know it sucks, but just bear with it for now. It will get better."
"Thank you Devin, I know it will be hard, but I will get through this. You just need to keep a smile on your face, and remember what Jason was like." She said to me while wiping a tear away from her right eye.
"Hey Dad, I need to talk to Tracie about something. If you don't mind I'll just grab a ride from her." I told him.
"Alright bud, just get ahold of me once you are on your way home, alright?" He commented towards me.
"Sure thing Dad!" I said to him while turning away.
I then waited for the people to start dispersing before I walked back over to Tracie.
"So, what do you have to do next?" I asked her.
"I just to make sure I get a little bit of ash from the Pastor, then after that head back home. The kids, and Myrll are supposed to come by in a little bit." She told me while walking towards the Pastor.
"You mind if I can get a ride home from you after we go to your house?" I asked her.
"Sure, just follow me." She told me.
So, I followed her over to the Pastor. He said some things to Tracie, then handed her the little bit of Jason's ash she had asked for earlier. We then walked over to her truck, which after we got in I started explaining to her about what I had seen.
"So, he is still alive! That is amazing news!" She exclaimed while driving down the road.
We drove for about 10 minutes before we reached her house. We got out of the truck just in time for Jason's siblings to show up. We walked into the house, and ordered some pizza from one of the pizza places in town. We talked for a little bit, then Myrll also showed up. I guess he had some stuff to do before he came over. We talked until the food showed up, and we ate until we ended up getting full. The kids started leaving one by one, then Myrll also left. Tracie drove me home after I called my Dad to let him know I was on my way. When we got there, Tracie ended up telling me the time of when we had to be at court.
"So, court for tomorrow will be around 10 am. We should be there an hour early just in case. The state is giving us a lawyer that way we don't have to pay for anything. So, do you want a ride tomorrow, or will you guys show up?" Tracie asked me.
"I'll get a ride with my Dad tomorrow. I believe he wants to be there since he was the one who gave me a ride to and from Comic Con." I ended up telling her.
"Alrighty, then I'll see you guys tomorrow then." She said to me.
"See you tomorrow!" I said while getting out of her truck.
I went inside, and told my Dad about what is happening tomorrow. He agreed that he should also be there, so we talked for a little bit. He ended up telling Shawna what was going on, and she also agreed with him. So after we had talked for a little bit longer, I decided it was time for me to head to bed. I figured it would be best to get some sleep for tomorrow. I said goodnight to both of them, then headed into my room to lay down.
