There was just a knock on my door, I didn't know who it was. So I let my dad get the door. I was currently getting dinner ready for the night. I was about to put the chicken brėȧst onto our five plates. My two sisters were in their room playing, my step-mom was currently watching tv.

"Devin! Come here, there is someone here for you." Devin's father yelled for him.

"Ok dad! I'm coming!" I yelled back.

"Hey Shawna, can you finish getting dinner ready?" I asked her.

"Yeah I can, just give me a sec." She said.

"Thanks." I said while walking out of the room.

"Prewarn you bud, she is a little bit weird." Devin's dad commented.

"Weird?" I said.

"U. . . Um. . . C. . . Can I help you ma'am?" I stammered.

"Yes you can help me. I have a letter here for you from Jason. He told me to deliver it to you." She said to me.

"A letter? Why?" I asked.

"Just read it, and you'll understand." She told me while handing out a letter.

I ended up taking the letter from her, and read the very front of it. It said "Devin" on the very front of it. That is Jason's handwriting alright. I opened the letter to see what he wrote me. I don't really understand why he didn't just text me. . .

"To Devin,

I'm sorry to say this, but I've been killed by an idiot driver. I wanted to tell you a few things, but I can't at the moment. I'm still alive, but I'm currently in a different world right now. I know you won't believe me, but that is the truth. I'm sorry for not being there with you. I have to go now, but I just wanted to tell you that I will always love you like my brother. Even if I'm not there.

From Jason

"Wait. . . This makes no sense! What do you mean he is dead! Whe. . ." I said until I noticed she was no longer there.

I started panicking while looking around for her. I ran inside immediately with tears running down my face. I ran into the kitchen where I heard my dad's voice.

"Dad!" I said while crying out a major amount of tears.

"Devin! What is wrong?! What happened?!" Devin's dad said while being extremely worried.

"J. . . Jas. . . Jason's dead!" I wailed.

"What?! How?!" Devin's dad yelled.

"Roger! Why are you yelling, and why is Devin crying?" Shawna said while walking into the kitchen.

"Shawna, Devin is crying cause he just found out that Jason is dead. . ." Roger said to her while trying to keep from showing a crying face.

"Oh no! Devin, come here!" Shawna said towards me.

"Dad, what is wrong?" A girl said while walking into the kitchen.

"Sam, Hailey. . . I've got something to tell you guys. . . Jason passed away earlier. . ." Roger told them.

Sam started crying, and ran into Roger's arms. Hailey also started crying, and ran into Devin and Shawna's hands. They all stood there crying for about ten to fifteen minutes before they separated themselves.

"Dad, I want to go over to Jason's house. I want to check on his mom." I told him.

"Alright, take the car. I'll stay here with the girls, and make sure they are alright." Roger told him.

"Thanks Dad!" I said while grabbing the car keys, and running outside to the car.

I started the car, then put it into reverse, and I backed out of the driveway. Once I was out of the driveway, I put it into gear, and then I floored it to start driving towards Jason's house. It took me about ten minutes to get over to his house. I ended up running into a few red lights, so it took me a bit longer to get there. Once I was there, I noticed a cop car sitting in the road in front of his house. I parked the car in their driveway, then ran into the house from the back door.

"Tracie?!" I yelled.

"Devin? I'm in the front room!" Tracie yelled back to me.

I walked further into the house. While walking I stopped for a quick moment to pet Leia, Jason's Boxer. I walked further into the house until I reached the front room. I looked inside, and I noticed a cop and his mom talking.

"Tracie, I know this is tough, but do you know why Jason was walking?" The cop asked her.

"He went to a Comic Con with his best friend Devin. Actually there he is." She said to the cop.

"Hi there Devin. I'm sorry for your loss, but I've got a few questions for you if that is alright." He said to me.

"That is fine." I said to him.

"Alright, the first question I've got was when did you see him last?" The cop asked me.

"Well the Comic Con was supposed to end around 9pm, but we left around 4pm. We had seen everything by that time. So we ended up leaving the place around 4:30, I went with my dad, and he went on the bus. I had asked if he wanted a ride, but he said no." I told him.

"Alright, thank you for that information. Now, the next question I have for you is do you know why he was walking home? I thought the bus stopped at his house." The cop then asked me.

"Honestly, I'm not too sure about that. From what he had told me the day before, was that it cost more the further away he was. So he paid for the cheaper ticket. See we had gotten the Premium Pass necklaces. Which cost quite a bit of money." I told him.

"Hmm. . . Alright. Well, this is going to be a tough statement that I have to tell you Tracie, but it is about the guy that hit your son. He was driving illegally. . . He was driving with an expired driver's license, and he also ran a red light. He has been arrested, but he is trying to get a lawyer. We will be sending you an envelope in the mail, stating when the court date will be. We would like the both of you to show up." The cop told us.

"We will be waiting for the mail then." Tracie told him.

"Just send mine here, I will be over here quite a bit for the next couple of weeks." I told the cop.

"Alright, will do. I'll be leaving now." The cop said while walking out the front door.

"Devin. . . Did you get anything from Jason recently?" She asked me.

"Actually I did, about an hour ago. . . Did you also get something from him?" I asked her.

"Yes I did, it was a note he wrote. Do you want to read it?" She asked me.

"If it is alright with you, then I will." I told her.

"Yes it is fine. Here let me go grab it. I had to hide it from the cop just in case he wanted to see what was in it." She told me while running upstairs real quick.

I waited in the kitchen for a few moments before she made her way back towards me.

"Here it is hun." She told me.

"Thanks." I mentioned to her.

I opened the letter to read it, it was a little bit longer than mine was.

I had really hoped you wouldn't have seen my body, but sadly that didn't happen. I still don't understand how you knew where I was at. . . It doesn't matter anyways. I wanted to tell you that I'm still alive, well sort of. . . I'm currently in a different world now called, The System's World. I honestly have no idea of what I'll be doing there, but hopefully it will be good and fun. I was told that I'm the very first one to transfer over to that world too. So wish me luck. I love you mom, more than anything in the world. Well, I guess two worlds now. . . Hahaha. . . Don't be too sad mom. I know this will be hard to handle, but I know you can do it. Devin will also be receiving a letter like you did, but his will be shorter. I will try to get back to our world, but I'm not sure of how long that will take. So I love you, and make sure you keep yourself busy!

Love, your son,

Jason

I started to cry a little bit while I was reading the letter, but it wasn't as bad as earlier. I wiped my eyes with my shirt, then I shut the letter back up. I looked up to see Tracie crying a little bit. I walked over to her, and put my arms around her that way she can have someone to lean against. Once she was against me, she started balling her eyes out. I felt really bad for her, because it would really suck to lose your loved ones like this.

"Tracie, I will be here for the next couple of weeks. I'll be coming by to check up on you to make sure you are doing alright." I commented to her.

"Sniff. . . Sniff. . . Th. . . Thank you Devin. You don't realize how much this really helps me." She told me.

"I know, just let me know if there is anything that I can do for you." I told her.

"Mmhmm. . . I will need some help going through some of his stuff. I'll need to get some pictures for the funeral too. . ." She started commenting on what she had to do.

"I'll help with that, don't worry! For now, why don't you go sit and relax for a little bit. You will have to call his dad to let him know about it too. . ." I commented to her.

"Shit. . . I'm really going to hate that phone call. . ." She mentioned while getting sadder than she already was.

"I know, just for now worry about keeping yourself going alright." I told her.

"Alright. . ." She commented to me.

After that, we sat down for a while, and we reminisced about Jason. It was a very emotional day for us. The next day, Tracie made a few phone calls to let everyone know about what had happened. The worst two she ended up calling was her mom, and Jason's dad. I started going through some of Jason's stuff, and I realized he collected a lot of stuff from Batman, swords, NASCAR, Star Wars, movies, and a crap ton of books. He really used to love reading, maybe a little bit too much. A week went by, before we ended up getting the letter from the Police Department in the mail. It said the trial was going to be held next Wednesday. Tracie ended up having the funeral held on the day before the trial. Jason was going to be cremated due to the damage the truck did to him. We also ended up finding a lot of pictures to choose from for the funeral. We had so many pictures that we had to reduce the amount we had.

"Alright Tracie, Shawna, Dad, Hailey, Sam, and I will be there early tomorrow at the funeral to help out with anything." I told her.

"Alright. . . Thanks again for helping me out this week with everything. I really hope he is doing alright in that other world. . ." She commented to me.

"If I know him, he is doing just fine. . . Hahaha. . ." I ended up laughing.

"Alright hun, I'll see you tomorrow morning!" She told me.

"Later Tracie!" I said to her while walking out the front door.

I really hope Jason is doing alright over there. I hope he doesn't end up dying for a long time.
