"What?! You dealt with Grant already?!"
Kristine's information was already long outdated. So, after waiting for her "senior" to finish, Alice chose to inform the other party that she had already defeated Grant. Then, as expected, Kristine was greatly taken aback by the news.
"Has the current Hero already grown so strong?" Kristine muttered to herself in disbelief.
However, Kristine couldn't be blamed for being surprised. After all, she was the Hero who had fought with Grant, so she knew how challenging an opponent the Demon King was. Even after imprisoning his physical body, she dared not let down her guard at all.
However, Kristine never expected that as soon as she spoke about the possibility of Grant being still alive, she would learn that the new Hero before her had already defeated him.
"He was surviving in the form of a soul, after all. He was incredibly weak when I met him. Although he managed to recover some of his strength by absorbing a demon's mana, he didn't make a full recovery, so it wasn't too difficult to beat him."
Alice was too embarrassed to say that she had defeated Grant using a pair of panties. Even if Kristine wasn't an enemy, it was best if few people knew about her strange ability.
"Is that so… I guess that makes sense. After leaving his physical body, his soul should've lost all of its mana, so he'd have to rely on external mana or tools to use magic. Unless he has already reconstructed his physical body, he wouldn't be a threat to a Hero," Kristine muttered as realization dawned upon her. Then, she sighed and said, "In that case, I don't have any more lingering attachments in this world. I had originally prepared myself to stay here for several thousand years, but I didn't think I would hear such good news in just three hundred years."
There were five human kingdoms in the human realm. Hence, the Hero wouldn't necessarily appear in the Gryffin Kingdom, nor would the Hero necessarily study in the March Royal School of Magic. Hence, from the very beginning, Kristine had prepared herself to wait here for a long, long time until a Hero visited the magic academy.
"Actually, doesn't your soul look pretty much intact? Since that's the case, why don't you find a way to recreate a physical body and live again?" Alice hurriedly said when she saw that Kristine was preparing to move on to the afterlife. "You are a Hero, aren't you? If you recreate a body and help us, wouldn't we have two Heroes in this generation?"
If Grant had successfully recreated his body, it would mean that this generation's Hero would have to deal with two Demon Kings. Likewise, if Kristine could get resurrected, wouldn't that mean the human realm would gain another Hero? The opponent Alice needed to deal with wasn't the Demon King, but the Demon King's Power, the root of all Demon Kings, instead. Hence, she could never have too much combat power on her side.
Not to mention, Kristine looked like a gullible person. Alice felt that it'd be a pity not to trick her.
"Wouldn't this…be inappropriate?"
Kristine hesitated. She had to admit that Alice's proposal was very tempting.
Similar to Grant, Kristine had lived miserably these past three centuries. After all, having nobody to talk to for so many years was an incredibly agonizing experience.
Of course, Kristine's situation was slightly better than Grant's. The Radioactive Soul Stone Grant inhabited had caused everyone to distance themselves from Demon King City, so he had essentially spent the past three centuries without meeting a single person. The Soul Gathering Tablet Kristine inhabited, on the other hand, evidently didn't have such a problem judging by the footprints that covered this forest clearing. Many students should have passed by this area frequently. Hence, Kristine's sanity hadn't been pushed as far as Grant's yet.
Meanwhile, after learning that Alice had defeated Grant, Kristine's first thought was that she could finally be relieved of her duty and let her soul dissipate from this world. However, she started changing her mind after hearing Alice's words.
Living a new life sounded like a good idea. While a normal person's soul would have certainly disappeared after three hundred years, even if it was preserved using special means, the souls of Heroes and Demon Kings were different. The strength of their souls far surpassed that of ordinary people. Thus, even after three centuries had passed, it was still entirely possible for them to recreate their bodies and live properly again.
However, recreating a physical body wasn't an easy task. Hence, Kristine was still a little worried about Alice's suggestion.
"My soul doesn't have any mana in its current state. Moreover, my magical affinities are light magic and psychokinesis. Unlike Grant, I can't use gravity magic to influence mana… So, even if I wanted to, I don't have a way of recreating my body."
So Grant had relied on gravity magic to absorb mana? This is the first time I'm hearing about this. Alice understood Kristine's concerns, so she said, "You can rest assured on this matter. All you need to do is tell me how to recreate your body, and I will figure out a solution. You should be able to trust in me, right?"
"Of course. Anyone the Hero's Sword chooses must have a soul of high purity," Kristine said, smiling and nodding when she heard Alice's words.
However, when a certain maid standing behind Alice heard Kristine's words, she couldn't help but look at Alice skeptically. Although Luna wasn't thinking of betraying Alice, could someone who used panties as weapons really have a pure soul?
"The method to reconstruct a body isn't particularly challenging. All you need to do is find an alchemist with at least a master's degree and use the elven race's Seed of Nature as a medium to refine a prototype body that can accommodate a soul. Then, my soul will be able to move into the body." Kristine readily revealed the method of resurrection she knew of after reaching an agreement with Alice. "It might be difficult for the average person to fulfill these conditions, but it should be relatively easy for the Hero."
Alice was aware of the alchemist profession. Alchemy was a somewhat special branch of study in this world where magic existed. Although alchemy also involved mana, research on alchemy was mainly related to the transmutation of elements. Many modern magical creations couldn't have existed without the help of alchemy.
Meanwhile, the elven race was a race that lived in a forest connecting the human and demon realms. Like the elves Alice had read about before transmigrating, the elves here were long-lived creatures with stunning appearances. They were also very adept at utilizing the magical elements available in nature.
In the modern era, the percentage of magicians that studied alchemy was incredibly small. Alchemists with a master's degree were even rarer. Meanwhile, the elves' Seed of Nature was a precious seed that could improve the mana content of an area after planting it into the ground. It, too, was an incredibly rare commodity.
Under normal circumstances, it would indeed be very difficult to fulfill these two conditions. However, that was only true for normal people. It was a different story for the Hero.
The various human kingdoms shared good diplomatic relations with the elves. If the Hero were to ask the elves for a Seed of Nature, the elves were more than likely to agree to the request.
After all, once the human and demon realms went to war, the elves, who lived in the boundary of the two realms, would be affected to a certain extent. Meanwhile, compared to the Demon King, an existence born of hatred, the elves were naturally more inclined to get in the Hero's favor.
Of course, if Grant had used the demon realm's influence to exert pressure on the elves, he could probably obtain a Seed of Nature as well. However, Alice had already defeated Grant with a pair of panties, so she could be considered to have helped the elves get rid of a hidden problem. Probably.
