Kendrick looked down on him. "Now you See here, boy. That's just a taste of what I can do. Our sister is twice as strong. A goddess on earth. You will help her bare children, you will be toe to toe with that power. Learn about it, about this world, and about your wife and her abilities. Only then, when you can handle the truth can you call yourself her mate. Being inside her body any man can force on her. Being in her heart, her soul and having her in yours is what a mate truely is." Kendrick let him up as Keenan stepped forward to put a hand on his brother's shoulder. There was a look of disapproval but Kendrick seemed completely unphased.
"Kyera knows what she's doing." Keenan assured him but Kendrick couldn't help but laugh.
"Does she? Who the hell was there to teach her better, brother? Not you, not I. None of us. Then she marries a man who doesn't even know what she can do. Who she is. Forgive me for trying to teach him a bit about what being married to this family means." Kendrick's tone held no remorse, there was no apology in his harsh words.
Kain bent over and reached for Clovis' hand. Clovis took it and allowed himself to be pulled to his feet.
"She loves moonlight, and spending hours playing the Zither. Her favorite place on earth is the little garden where your buried. She hates your mother, and the way that her fur looks when she first wakes up in the morning. Food is a necessity but tea is her passion. She's a medic, not a fighter and prefers to talk for hours and play games with her kin rather than flaunt her power. She's a dedicated mother, who loves teaching her daughter new things. She's insecure about the future, and her heart is torn and bloody by your mother and Verone's behaviors. Beyond all that, she loves me even though she doesn't know if it is right or not, she does." Clovis spoke clearly as Kendrick stared at him, his eyes narrow as he tried to find the reason Clovis was rambling all this off. "I don't have to know what she's capable of to know her. I love her smile, the way she chuckles when Raina amuses her. She loves people, and I love to watch her watch them because there's a certain inquisitiveness in her eyes that I can't get over. Moral of the story, don't judge what a man knows before you know what he knows. In the end, knowing what someone can do doesn't mean you know who they are. Just as knowing who they are doesn't require you to know what they can do." Clovis finished and brushed the dirt off his skin.
The four brother's stood quietly for a moment. Kain and Konnor looking up at him in awe, while Keenan smiled his own approval. Kendrick however, held his eyes, cold and annoyed.
"Sorry about him. I think he took dying hardest and not being there for Kyera… well he struggles with it alot. Most of its probably jealousy." Keenan tried to smooth the situation over, but Clovis sighed.
"I knew things had gone too easy thus far. I mean her entire family has accepted me fairly easy. I can't expect everyone to. I need to prove myself yet." Clovis tried to brush it off but the nagging feeling was still there. His words had opened tiny wounds all over his heart. Verone… how had he turned on her? What could bring someone to be so… cruel? Keenan pulled him from those thoughts before they pulled Clovis in.
