Lady Melissa headed into La Vien Rose, and all of a sudden, all eyes were on her.
She walked towards the reception, meeting the face of a servant.
Duke Gaston had reserved a table for both of them, hopefully.
"I assume you know?"
Lady Melissa said, and the servant quickly nodded his head, immediately understandingwhat she had meant.
"Come right this way, Lady Melissa."
The servant led her into a more private area with little to no people.
"Duke Gaston is behind here, and I will leave now, Lady Melissa Mendy Shayla. Please call us with the little bell on the side of the table if you are ready to order."
The servant showed a curtain that was right in front of him and Lady Melissa.
The servant quickly bowed his head before leaving Lady Melissa.
Lady Melissa slowly drew the curtains out, and she was met with a handsome Duke Gaston looking as monotone as he always was.
"Hello, Duke Gaston. It's nice to see you again.Thank you for the invitation."
Lady Melissa greeted Duke Gaston.
"Hello, Lady Melissa Mendy Shayla, it's nice to see you as well, please take a seat."
Duke Gaston then proceeded to stand up and pull the seat for Lady Melissa ,which she had gratefully accepted.
"You came early, Duke Gaston.Did you wait too long for me? I do hope that is not the case."
"I came early because I wanted to, and do not worry, I did not wait a long time for you."
Duke Gaston tried his best to reassure Lady Melissa Mendy Shayla that he hadn't waited a long time for her, as he didn't want to make her feel guilty.
When in reality, Duke Gaston had waited for her 30 minutes.
Though he would never admit it to anyone, he was keen on the meeting with Lady Melissa, and he simply did not express it.
As he always had that stone-cold face, nobody realized anything different about him.
On the other hand, quite a few people had recognized Lady Melissa's weird behavior, such as her parents though they simply did not think much about it and just brushed it off.
Though they did think it was a little odd for Lady Melissa to act like that all of a sudden, they didn't know what to do, so they just decided to observe Lady Melissa for a few more days while trying to brush off her weird behavior the past few days.
"Why don't we order some food before discussing about the Crown Prince."
Duke Gaston asked Lady Melissa.
"Yes, that sounds like a great idea. Though you are sure that this place is private, right? I just want to make sure of things."
"Do not worry, although this place might look crowded in front. This place is private, there's no one else here, and this place is fully and completely soundproof, and I rented out this area entirely just for the two of us."
Duke Gaston said in a calm tone.
"But what about the curtains? How are they soundproof? And what about the bell the servants had told me to ring if I was ready to order? How can they know whether I'm ready to order if you say this place is completely soundproof?"
Lady Melissa didn't want to be a pushover at all, but she wanted to be one hundred percent sure that word of her discussion with Duke Gaston would not be leaked at all.
Or else she would be completely and utterly screwed.
"Rest assured Lady Melissa, everything here is soundproof. The bell that is on the table, is embedded with magic and so are the curtains. The curtains have been made soundproof to my request, and this is a custom made bell I had asked the dessert shop to prepare.
When you or I ring the bell, it will send a custom sound into the kitchen, and later the waitress or servant will come and take our orders."
Duke Gaston had so much to lose if their conversation had been leaked, so he had made sure that the place he had reserved was 100 percent safe.
Duke Gaston COULD'VE invited Lady Melissa to his house, but decided against it since it would hurt her reputation.
Since seeing an unmarried woman being in an unmarried man's house would lead to some very controverisal rumours.
Duke Gaston had invited Lady Melissa into La Vien En Rose so there wouldn't be any bad or negative rumors about her, and it had only been a week since she had debuted.
He didn't want her to be met with such….negative and rude rumors almost immediately after she's debuted.
Though Lady Melissa didn't know about this at all, she had just brushed it off.
She didn't know he had gone through such lengths for her.
She would be grateful of Duke Gaston if she found out the truth, but a secret shall stay as a secret, at least for now.
