"OH YEAH, GREAT IDEA SOPHIA!"
Lady Melissa shouted in delight, and It looked like it wouldn't be as much as a problem she initially thought it would be.
"By the way, Lady Melissa, did you happen to make any new friends at the tea party just now?"
Sophia questioned, hoping that Lady Melissa did make a few new friends.
"Oh yeah, I did."
"What house is she from?"
Sophia continued her questioning.
"From the Jean estate, if I'm not mistaken."
"The Jean estate?"
Sophia repeated, making sure that she heard the same thing Lady Melissa had said.
"Yeah, the Jean estate; why?"
"Oh wow, Lady Melissa- the Jean estate's one of the most powerful families across the capital, not as powerful as the five founding families but maybe the sixth or seven most powerful family in the capital?"
Sophia said.
"What really?"
"Yeah, and I heard Lady Jean is famous for her swordsmanship skills and that she has a lot of power among society."
"Sweet, a new person to practice swordsmanship with for me!"
Lady Melissa said in delight, and she was excited to visit Lady Jean for the second time and perhaps practice swordsmanship with Lady Jean if possible. She wanted to test out her skills against Lady Jean.
All of a sudden, the carriage had stopped.
Lady Melissa and Sophia were confused at the sudden stop of the carriage and with no warning from the driver about it.
"Sorry, Lady Melissa, but I think the carriage wheel fell. You can stay in the carriage for a while if you want to, but I'll get one of the spares for the carriage."
The driver said, now it made sense why there was a thumping sound before the carriage had suddenly stopped.
"Alright, then Sophia and I will just wait in the carriage. Please hurry up."
Lady Melissa informed the driver.
"No worries, Lady Melissa; this will be done in 5 minutes."
Lady Melissa waited and waited, but it had passed 5 minutes, and she was getting bored of waiting.
Lady Melissa quickly opened the carriage door, curious to see what was taking the driver so long, ignoring Sophia's words of disapproval.
"What's taking you so long?"
Lady Melissa said to the driver.
"Haha, actually about that…."
The driver nervously laughed, averting his glance from Lady Melissa before continuing his line.
"Turns out it wasn't only the carriage wheel that fell. One of the parts did as well, and it's an important component of the carriage, so it might take some time for me to find something to be able to replace the component."
The driver said.
"Oh."
Lady Melissa dryly said.
"How long would it take for you to be able to get the carriage to work again approximately?"
Lady Melissa asked, hoping it wouldn't take long.
"Well, maybe around 30 minutes to an hour?"
The driver replied, sounding unsure.
"Oh, well, Sophia and I will go into some of the shops in front of where the carriage broke down, and we'll be back by 20-25 minutes. Just kindly hurry up."
The boredom was killing Lady Melissa.
"Sophia, come on down, we're going shopping!"
Lady Melissa excitedly shouted.
Within seconds Sophia exited the carriage door.
"You called for me Lady Melissa?"
Sophia asked, hearing Lady Melissa's shout from inside the carriage, though she didn't exactly hear what Lady Melissa had said.
"Yeah, we'll be going to some shops in front for 20-25 minutes because it's going to take a long for the carriage to get moving again."
"Oh alright then, I guess I'll be accompanying you Lady Melissa?"
"Yep."
Lady Melissa nodded her head in agreement.
Lady Melissa then left the driver and the carriage walking towards the numerous shops right in front of her, with Sophia trailing behind.
Lady Melissa saw one of the many food stalls and her mouth had watered almost immediately, she quickly jogged towards the food stall excited to buy it and try it.
The food stall sold French fries and the best part was the fact that they were topped with cheese powder, Lady Melissa could feel her stomach grumbling already at the sight of it.
Just as Lady Melissa was getting closer and closer to the food stall she could smell the delicious French fries and her stomach grumbled.
She absolutely couldn't wait to try them.
"Good afternoon, can I get some French fries to go?"
Lady Melissa politely asked the old woman who was selling the French fries.
The old woman looked up before quickly smiling.
"Of course you can! What size would you like it to be?"
The old woman replied with a big grin on her face.
"What sizes do the French fries come in?"
Lady Melissa asked.
"They come in three different sizes, small medium and large."
The old woman replied.
"I'll get the large then please."
"Alright then, what kind of powder would you like?"
"What are all the kinds of flavours or powders that you have?"
"Well I have barbeque and cheese."
"I'll go with cheese then."
"Alright I'll prepare your order now."
The old woman said before quickly making the French fries.
Lady Melissa carefully watched every step the old woman was taking, eager to devour her French fries.
"Here are your French fries!"
The old woman said, casually handing over the French fries in question to Lady Melissa.
Lady Melissa quickly took a few silver coins before handing it to the old woman.
The old woman took the silver coins before realizing that Lady Melissa had given her too much.
"This is too much. It's only 5 bronze coins for the fries."
The old woman said, not wanting Lady Melissa to accidentally give her more money.
"Oh don't worry about it, instead keep the change."
Lady Melissa said with a sly grin before leaving the old woman.
"Lady!"
"Lady!"
"Please I cannot accept this money!"
The old woman shouted, hoping that Lady Melissa would get the money back.
But to no avail Lady Melissa simply looked back and mouthed the words "Keep it."
The old woman though she felt guilty for taking the money at the same time she felt extremely thankful, she would finally be able to pay this month's rent.
