"Wow, for him not to even give his name to the Duke? He must have had a death wish or something."
Lady Melissa sarcastically said, as she had just known how disrespectful the man, Lasson had acted towards Duke Mason.
"Oh please, I was under disguise, so he didn't know me as a Duke. If he had not told me his name when I asked him for it when I was not in disguise, that I might punish him for. It wasn't weird for him to not tell his name to a stranger he had never met before."
Duke Mason said, explaining the circumstances of the situation why Lasson had not told his name to the Duke.
"Oh? Does being in disguise have anything to do with your guild? And Lasson is a part of it I believe?"
Lady Melissa asked Duke Mason if the reason he was under disguise had anything to do with his guild.
"It's a long story, and for your information Lady Melissa, yes, Lasson is a part of the guild, he's been a member for quite some time already."
Duke Mason said, conforming Lady Melissa's suspicions whether Lasson was truly a part of the guild.
"Now if you don't have any more questions I shall call on Lasson to come here to my room and accompany you back into the Shayla estate."
Duke Mason said, as he opened the window.
"By all means, please do."
Lady Melissa quickly replied.
Duke Mason yelled out "Lasson!" on the top of his lungs, and not even a minute had passed before Lasson had arrived.
"You called for me, your grace?"
Lasson curiously asked, wondering for what possible reason could Duke Mason have called on him for.
"Yes, I would like you to escort Lady Melissa back home the same way you escorted her here earlier."
Duke Mason said, explaining to Lasson the reason he had called on him.
"Alright, when would you like me to accompany her? Would you like it to be right now? Or later on?"
Lasson asked, wanting to know when he would have to accompany Lady Melissa back home.
"Spare us ten minutes, and wait outside and you can go accompany her."
Duke Mason said, as Lasson looked behind Duke Mason, only now realizing Lady Melissa had been there the entire time.
"Greetings Lady Melissa, I must go now and wait for ten minutes, I will see you soon."
Lasson said, wanting to sound and act polite in front of Duke Mason but instead sounding awkward.
"Yeah."
Lady Melissa replied, not knowing what to say to Lasson's greetings.
Lasson quickly left the room, as only Duke Mason and Lady Melissa were left. Alone.
"How did he come here so quickly when you called him?"
Lady Melissa curiously asked, wondering how he had known about Duke Mason's calling.
"Oh he actually is like my guard, so he follows me everywhere and emerges from the shadows when I ask him to. He won't follow me if I tell him not to though."
Duke Mason said, explaining to Lady Melissa how Lasson had arrived so quickly.
"What about his skills though? From what I've seen from my own two eyes, he is a capable and strong young man."
Lady Melissa said, before quickly looking up and down at Duke Mason's body.
"Maybe even stronger than you."
Lady Melissa said, a twinkle in her eye.
"I assure you that I am very much stronger than him, his skills were actually natural, though he did put in hard work as well so his skills would shine through and improve."
Duke Mason said, as he explained Lasson's skills and how he was a natural.
"The members of the guild don't know about my identity, all except one, and that one is Lasson. He had actually just found out the truth about my identity recently, and ever since then I told him to be my guard as well and to follow me wherever I go unless I say no."
Duke Mason said, telling Lady Melissa about how Lasson had found out about his identity.
"Do not fret though, I have asked him not to say a word about our arrangement, and I have requested him not to follow me when we met at La Vien En Rose."
Duke Mason said, as he knew Lady Melissa was probably worried about word of their discussion getting leaked.
Even though she knew Lasson was probably a very loyal man, she could not help but doubt him, as she was not close to him.
No, they were simply mere acquaintances, and maybe if she started to know about Lasson a bit more than she would be able to judge what kind of personality and character Lasson had.
"How very thoughtful of you, I appreciate your efforts in keeping our arrangement a secret as much as you can. Thank you Duke Mason."
Lady Melissa said, thanking the Duke for the 4th or 5th time, or maybe even third time for the morning.
"As much as I like hearing your beautiful voice thanking me, you don't have to, since we have vowed to each other that we would be loyal. Favours will of course be given to each other, and we don't need to thank one another for it."
Duke Mason said, explaining to Lady Melissa that she did not need to thank him for every little considerate action she had done for her.
"I guess you are right Duke, I shall take your advice and stop apologizing for the two of us. Though if I may ask when did Lasson find out about your identity?"
Lady Melissa curiously asked, wondering when and how Lasson had found out about Duke Mason's identity.
"Lasson found out about my identity shortly after we had made our contract, probably a week or two after we first talked to each other."
Duke Mason said, thinking about when exactly had Lasson found out about his identity, though he could not remember the exact date and day of when Lasson had found out about his identity.
