"Well my mental health is doing fine these past few days so you don't have to worry much about me."

Lady Melissa said to her mother, staring at her in the eyes.

Lady Melissa lied to her mother, her mental health wasn't doing good, it had been deteriorating these past few days but she was trying to hide it and make it seem like it was all alright.

How was she supposed to be fine when her childhood friend got killed on the same day as she murdered someone? The fact that her childhood friend was murdered right in front of her eyes didn't help her much either.

"Just make sure to catch enough sleep alright darling? Your eyebags are starting to get worse and worse with everyday that passes."

The Duchess said, pointing out the fact that Lady Melissa's eyebags were starting to get more and more visible.

"Mother, as much as both you and I would love that, I can't promise you that. If it was that easy I would've preferred to sleep forever rather than live everyday."

Lady Melissa half-jokingly said, it would be easier for her if she could just sleep forever.

Just as the Duchess was about to say something, the servant arrived with a tray in his hand, putting the dish right in the middle of the table.

The servant opened the tray, and it was steak?

At least that's what Lady Melissa could smell, though its shape was pretty weird the meat was rolled up with something inside of it, which Lady Melissa didn't know what it was.

The servant left soon after, and the Duchess saw her daughter's confused look regarding the dish.

"This is Balsamic-Glazed Steak Rolls, I knew you would love this since you love steak and it just looked like it would suit your tastes. So go on, try it."

The Duchess said, urging Lady Melissa to try the dish out, curious to see how Lady Melissa would react to the dish.

Lady Melissa took her fork and spoon, taking one of the Balsamic-Glazed Steak Rolls before putting it on her plate and taking a small bite of it.

"This is good."

Lady Melissa said, slowly eating the rolls.

"I know, a mother's instinct is never wrong. Especially when it comes to their daughters."

The Duchess said, sending her daughter a wink.

Lady Melissa soon finished her food, as she waited for her mom to finish hers.

Silently observing her mother eating.

"I love you mother."

Lady Melissa murmured, thankful for everything that her mother and father put themselves through every single day, just so she could be happy and enjoy her life.

Lady Melissa had accidentally said it out loud, not realizing it, as she hoped her mother didn't hear it as she wasn't one for affection and it would embarrass Lady Melissa.

The Duchess soon finished her food as well, before bidding Lady Melissa goodbye, saying that she still had work to get done with her father.

'I should probably go and find Derreck before I forget.'

Lady Melissa thought to herself, reminding herself about Derreck and how she needed to ask him for help.

"Derreck!"

Lady Melissa shouted, waiting for Derreck to come.

"Yes Lady Melissa?"

Derreck shouted, as he walked towards Lady Melissa, wondering why she had shouted for him.

"Good evening Lady Melissa, for what reason have you called for me?"

Derreck curiously asked, wondering why Lady Melissa had called for him.

"I need your help with something, come here."

Lady Melissa said, whispering to Derreck as she led him to one of the soundproof rooms.

"I need you to identify every employee who has straight and black hair and report to me, I expect this report to be handed in tomorrow to me, latest by 5PM."

Lady Melissa said to Derreck as she could see his confused look.

"For what reason do you need me to-?"

Derreck was suddenly cut off by Lady Melissa.

"Your job is to follow my orders, not ask."

Lady Melisssa firmly said, as Derreck lowered his head down.

"Of course Lady Melissa, my apologies, I should make sure to give this report to you tomorrow."

Derreck said, as Lady Melissa quickly dismissed him, going into her room.

'I should probably sleep early and lock my drawers from now on, can't risk anyone taking my things.'

Lady Melissa thought, as she wanted to be extra careful that nobody discovered the small bit of paper she had which contained Baron Kevin's graveyard and some descriptions in which section of the graveyard he was.

'I'll get it custom made for myself when I go out to the capital or something tomorrow, though it's gonna be harder for me to sneak out since Derreck probably told my parents about today's incident and they're gonna increase the security measures for our house.'

Lady Melissa thought, hoping that they would increase it by Monday and not tomorrow as she wanted to go out one last time before she would be forced to stay inside the house.

Besides it wasn't as if it was hard for Lady Melissa to learn the subjects she had been missing out on.

She made sure to personally teach herself the topics she had missed out on when she went out, and to never ever have Victoria take her swordsmanship or etiquette lessons.

Those lessons were the lessons that Lady Melissa needed the most, and she couldn't let someone take those lessons from her, so she made sure to attend days where she had etiquette and swordsmanship lessons.

While on days which she did not have, she would go outside and leave Victoria to take her place.

Maybe after this was all over she could have a talk with her parents so that she had less lessons and more time to go outside, she wasn't academically struggling at all.

Her grades were all 90s-100 instead now higher than before, weirdly enough, these were the grades she would get when she took exams now.
