Lady Melissa wasn't one to judge a person's type for their significant other, but she just couldn't help herself on people who dislike their significant others being confident in themselves.
It was a red flag for Lady Melissa, if a person hated the fact that others were being confident in themselves and standing up for themselves.
Another red flag for Lady Melissa was people using a person's whole personality based on their appearance, more specifically their face.
Maybe it was because Lady Melissa used to be one of those people who had been judged on her personality just based on her face.
Which was why Lady Melissa hated people who did that to others as well, it was one of the other things she hated in people.
Well most people at least, since not everyone judged a person based on their appearance only.
Lady Melissa looked in the mirror, smiling to herself, she was no longer the insecure woman who she used to be.
She had grown, whether she had realized it or not, for the better or worse. Lady Melissa had grown more than she had realized.
It started with the little things, from the way she presented herself to the manner she spoke and how she'd treat others.
"Now all we need to do is for you to wear the glass slippers."
Sophia said, as she took out some glass slippers that Lady Melissa was going to wear for the night, it reminded Lady Melissa of Cinderella.
Except that she didn't need a fairy godmother to grant her every wish when she could do it herself, nor did she need a prince charming to race after her.
Lady Melissa didn't need a man when she had herself, though admittedly she did wish she had a husband or someone she could have a romantic relationship with, though she knew better than anyone that now wasn't the time for any kind of romantic relationships.
"Wow."
Lady Melissa said out loud, although she knew she was beautiful she just seemed so ethereal right now, as if she was an angel of sorts.
"I agree, you do look very wow indeed Lady Melissa, though maybe the more suitable word would be beautiful or pretty."
Sophia said, looking at Lady Melissa's reflection in the mirror, proud of herself for being able to make Lady Melissa look so pretty, though Lady Melissa was already pretty, she just needed to touch up Lady Melissa's face.
"I'm flattered, though most of this is because of you, so you should give yourself some credit as well for being able to make me look so beautiful."
Lady Melissa said, still at a loss of words at how she looked in the mirror.
"Well, it does feel nice to be recognized, but most of it was you Lady Melissa, I just needed to fix a few things, and after all you said you wanted to be the star of the ball, if this doesn't make you the star of the ball then I don't know what will."
Sophia said, complimenting Lady Melissa on how absolutely gorgeous she looked, and how she was going to be the star of the ball today.
"Well, I'll be looking forward to it, though must I wear the glass slippers now? I dislike high-heels and I have a couple more hours until the party starts, or until I even head there."
Lady Melissa said, not wanting to wear high-heels. She admitted that they were pretty, but they hurted her feet a LOT.
The first time she ever wore high-heels in a ball, she got blisters all over her feet the very next day, and ever since then she didn't really like wearing high-heels.
Lady Melissa decided that this time however, the blisters that would appear on her feet the very next day would be worth it for later on.
Lady Melissa hoped that she wouldn't regret the decision, it was all going to be worth it so she could gain everyone's attention.
Though Lady Melissa was quite curious on how many eyes would be staring at her the moment she entered the ball.
"Well, I suppose you can wear the high-heels later on in two or three hours, though don't go running around or anything."
Sophia said, deciding that it was alright for Lady Melissa to wear the high hells later on, in two or three hours.
"Don't worry about me Sophia, I'm old enough to know what I should or shouldn't do, I'll call for you later when I'll head to the ball, but for now you may excuse yourself."
Lady Melissa said to Sophia who quickly nodded her head, excusing herself before she soon left Lady Melissa's room.
Lady Melissa wondered what to do, she had a couple more hours before she would even head to the event, so she was planning to kill some time.
Lady Melissa decided that she'd spend the last few hours of her misery by doing some paperwork, after all she would be drinking some wine tonight.
Even if she was sober it would be clear that Lady Melissa wouldn't be in the right state of mind to do any paperwork.
It was called a party for a reason; so Lady Melissa should make the most out of it and have a fun time, instead of just regretting every second she was there.
After all, what could be more depressing than being in a party where one regretted every single second of it? Truth be told it was because Lady Melissa used to be like that.
She used to regret ever coming to the party at every single second she was there, though in her defense it was because she had been humiliated so many times.
Lady Melissa ended up thinking that in every party or gathering she would attend, she would be humiliated and the worst part was that she couldn't even bring herself to stand up for herself.
It was a never-ending cycle, one where Lady Melissa got invited to a ball or gathering, and she would end up attending, then regretting her decision to even attend.
