Although Lady Melissa couldn't see the number of people that were staring at her and the King whilst the two of them was conversing, she could feel the eyes staring at her figure intensely.
"Melissa was it?"
The King said as he asked Lady Melissa about her name, Lady Melissa being a little surprised since the King had never managed to remember her name in her past life, even with all the status she had in her family.
"Yes."
Lady Melissa quickly replied to the King, as he nodded his head.
"It suits your appearance, you look like a very elegant Lady, one that I'm sure many noblemen are after."
The King said as he gave Lady Melissa a smile.
Lady Melissa felt discomfort, trying to stop herself from punching the King in his face.
"Thank you, I am flattered by the compliment."
Lady Melissa said as she let out a smile.
Suddenly, another noble appeared, this time, however it was one of the nobles that worked in the royal family, Viscount Adrian, a man who would often bribe his way into things, and Lady Melissa had no doubt he had somehow managed to bribe his way into getting a job in the royal palace, not that she cared though.
"Excuse me, but may I talk to the King? Alone?"
Viscount Adrian said as he looked at the King then at Lady Melissa.
"Unfortunately, our chat will be cut short Melissa, though I am more than delighted to see your face after hearing many rumours about you."
The King said as Lady Melissa gave him a smile, knowing the rumours he must've heard about her.
Hopefully, if the god of luck was on her side, maybe the King had heard the good rumours about her, the ones about how pretty and how perfect her personality was, not the ones made up by jealous noblewomen who were jealous of her looks, personality, and status.
Though admittedly Lady Melissa did feel proud to have a number of women who were jealous of her, it was another ego-booster to her.
Lady Melissa pretended to search for the tables, as she acted as if she didn't know where they were, a servant noticed this and quickly helped her guide Lady Melissa to her seat that was labelled Lady Melissa.
Lady Melissa looked to the left of her seat, and there it was in big bold black letters, Duke Alphonso was sitting next to her.
Lady Melissa looked to the right, and it was Duke Gaston. Great, just great, she was going to be stuck with the two of them as if one Duke wasn't enough, but Lady Melissa knew she could handle this.
It was just for a few hours, and now Lady Melissa had to decide just which one of the noblemen she'd decided to give her napkin too, she had decided that instead of giving it to one of the noblemen, she'd give it to her father since she didn't want any scandals of her being spread.
It was more than irritating to Lady Melissa how every little action she made would be over-analyzed by others and there would be rumours just because of a meaningless action she made.
Lady Melissa would've loved to give the napkin to herself, after all, she deserved it since she had sewed it herself, but women weren't allowed for the hunting event.
Well they were, but they were exceptions, and the exceptions were only Duchess Ella, or at least that was what Lady Melissa had recalled in her previous life.
Lady Melissa took a look at her surroundings, wondering which other nobles had come, and the hunting event wasn't going to be starting until another hour, so everybody was simply standing, knowing that it would be rude to sit on their tables when the King hadn't even told them to.
Lady Melissa had two tables she was going to sit on; one was with the other noblewomen when the hunting event began, since her table would be almost completely empty with the number of men that were in it, and were forced to participate in the event.
Lady Melissa was absolutely delighted to face just what kind of ladies would be tearing her down.
They needed to learn not to play with fire; especially when they themselves were simply an ant compared to it.
Lady Melissa noticed her surroundings, noticing that Duchess Ella was there as she went to the Duchess, greeting her.
"So, you came, Duchess Ella, I must admit, it is nice seeing you here."
Lady Melissa said as the Duchess looked at her, smiling.
"Why yes I did, the feeling is mutual, now, is there anything you'd like to ask? Your eyes look like they're filled with questions."
Duchess Ella said as she stared straight into Lady Melissa's eyes, noticing the curious look she held in them.
"I'd ask you a dozen questions Duchess Ella, but unfortunately, this isn't the best place to indulge you with those questions."
Lady Melissa said, as the both of them shared a laugh, Duchess Ella got some wine on the table and handed it to Lady Melissa.
"Drink up before they notice."
Duchess Ella said, as she finished the entire glass of wine in just a few seconds, she was so quick that nobody had noticed her drinking the wine, in less than ten seconds no less.
Lady Melissa let out a smirk, feeling as if this was some sort of challenge from Duchess Ella to make up for the fact that she had lost the duel with Lady Melissa earlier.
"Cheers."
Lady Melissa said, before she herself, gulped down the entire glass of wine in less than 10 seconds, impressing Duchess Ella.
There were few who could drink their wine as fast as Duchess Ella, and even so, there were only a few men she had met in her life that had been able to drink their wine as fat as her, and she had never met someone that was a woman who could do so, so she was surprised and impressed nonetheless by Lady Melissa.
