Lady Melissa loved to be in control, although she didn't show it much of the time, usually not wanting to deal with all the burdens a person had to deal with by being the one in control.
It was like the number of burdens the King had to deal with every day simply because he was the King.
Lady Melissa wondered how many unimportant visits the King had from numerous nobles every day, asking his help on useless problems that could have been sold if they used even a tiny bit of their brain, not as if it was Lady Melissa's problem though.
Lady Melissa loved seeing others feel weaker; and being more submissive, knowing who truly was the one in charge and in control of everything, was a huge ego booster for Lady Melissa.
Lady Melissa spent the next two hours of the trip in silence, as she thought about a numerous number of topics, the main one being about the hunting event, but more specifically about Duke Alphonso and the assassination attempt.
Lady Melissa had double-checked more times than she could count to make sure that the piece of paper containing the information about where Duke Alphonso should meet her was still in the pocket of her dress.
She couldn't lose it, after the weeks of planning she had put into the hunting event, when was another opportunity like this ever going to arise?
Probably during the next three or four months or so, but Lady Melissa didn't have that much time to offer, her time was limited, and Lady Melissa had to make use of every single opportunity she got to her advantage, so that was making the best of every single event and gathering she was invited to and was forced to attend, including this one.
Lady Melissa wasn't going to let an opportunity slip away from her fingers, after all if she were forced to attend events and gatherings it was best for her to take advantage of it right?
It wasn't as if it would hurt her to take advantage of it.
Lady Melisssa soon arrived at the venue, as she looked through the window seeing how beautiful the place looked, looking the exact same as how it had been in her previous life.
Unfortunately, or fortunately for Lady Melissa, her parents were using a different carriage than her, and had to leave from the Shayla estate a little later than her since they had some work to finish.
This wasn't a problem so long as the both of them managed to arrive on time, and not late, as it would be seen disrespectful to attend late to a gathering held by none other than the King.
The servant quickly opened Lady Melissa's carriage door as Lady Melissa stepped out, the place was beautiful, and Lady Melissa had forgotten about it.
There were so many plants everywhere, and trees and Lady Melissa loved it; she loved the number of greens that would surround her eyesight.
After all, she was a fan of plants, just not that big of a fan since well she didn't have the time nor effort to take care of them every single day, knowing that if she ever tried to have plants of her own, they'd probably wither and die in less than a week.
"Good Morning Lady Melissa, may I see your invitation?"
The maid said, greeting Lady Melissa as Lady Melissa assumed she was the receptionist, the one checking whether everybody had their invitations or not.
Lady Melissa looked through her bag for a few seconds before she found the invitation, hanging it over to the maid without saying a single word.
"Please enter through this lane, and I hope you have a good time, Maria will be escorting you."
The maid said with a smile as Lady Melissa nodded her head, Maria accompanying her to find her way through the place.
Although Lady Melissa already knew where the other nobles were, and the directions to get there, she decided not to say anything since it would be suspicious for her to know of it when this should be her first time going here.
Since the royal family had actually bought the place a while ago, and before that, it was private property, and it was shaped much much much more different than it currently was now.
"I hope you enjoy your time here, and if you ever need anything please call one of the maids or servants. Unfortunately, I must now excuse myself."
Maria, the maid who had been accompanying Lady Melissa to the other nobles said, as she bowed her head down to which Lady Melissa nodded, a signal of allowing Maria to excuse herself.
Lady Melissa walked slowly through the trail of flowers, as she stared at the other nobles.
It had felt as if time stopped, at least to Lady Melissa.
The number of eyes that were staring at her was too many to count, and Lady Melissa put on a smile, enjoying the attention on her.
How could she not? She was the apple of all of their eyes; just where she was supposed to be.
Lady Melissa slowly made her way to the King, as he spotted her and let out a smile to her.
Surprisingly, the King just so happened to be alone, drinking a glass of champagne when the party hadn't even started yet.
"Good Morning King Henry, it is an honour to be invited to an event like this."
Lady Melissa said as she bowed down to the King, holding her position whilst she waited for him to say something.
"You may stand up."
The King said as Lady Melissa stood up from her awkward position, thankful that she didn't have to deal with the chances of her leg cramping.
"Thank you."
Lady Melissa said, as she elegantly stood up, not meeting the King's eyes as she didn't want to be considered disrespectful, especially with the crowd of nobles that were staring at the King and her talking.
