Chapter 194 - 194

Soon enough, the topic had somehow managed to change from a husband not spending enough time with a wife, to discussing the Crown Prince and the brunette-haired woman's engagement, though Lady Melissa wasn't complaining, this was far more entertaining than whatever had been discussed earlier.

Lady Melissa was interested in just what the ladies had to say about the brunette-haired woman, already knowing that most of them were going to be bad.

"I can't believe she had managed to be engaged with someone like the Crown Prince."

A Lady which Lady Melissa recognized as one of the Crown Prince's 'playthings' in her previous life, noticing how jealous she sounded and looked while saying it, the anger obvious in her eyes.

"She must've forced him into marrying her, there is no way someone like the Crown Prince would stoop that low."

Another Lady chirped into the conversation, not believing that the Crown Prince would ever settle for a woman like the brunette-haired woman, Lady Melissa simply observed them and the conversation, wondering just which one of the Ladies would speak up next about their thoughts.

It wasn't long until another Lady spoke up, agreeing with the two other ladies.

"Yeah, and did you see how she kept following him? She didn't even say a word to anyone, sounds arrogant to me."

The third Lady said, pointing out the fact that the brunette-haired woman had in fact not talked to anyone in the hunting venue so far, and it was true as well that the brunette-haired woman had been following him this entire time, even yesterday.

"She only appeared yesterday and they're suddenly engaged? It sounds sketchy to me."

Lady Whistledown said, speaking up as the other ladies agreed with her, it was just so weird for them to be engaged so suddenly when she had only appeared to the public yesterday.

It wasn't uncommon for nobles to suddenly be engaged with each other, but at the very least they would go on a few dates with each other, not in a matter of a day, and they would appear in public at least a number of times, not just two and suddenly announce their engagement with each other.

Lady Melissa simply stayed in silence while the other noble ladies nodded their heads.

Lady Melissa glanced at the clock, she couldn't believe that only ten minutes had passed from the hunting event started, she wanted to let out a sigh, but knowing that the ladies would take it as Lady Melissa saying she didn't want to be here, she decided not to.

Lady Melissa spoke with Lady Whistledown for a few minutes, whilst the others were talking amongst each other as Lady Melissa hinted to Lady Whistledown that she saw the brunette-haired woman and the Crown Prince kissing each other.

It was a big no-no, even when it involved the royal family, she was sure that by later that very evening the brunette-haired woman was going to face a lot of scandalous affairs about her, whether it was real or not, it wouldn't matter.

Lady Melissa knew that Lady Whistledown had caught her bait, she was right about Lady Whistledown after all; she'd be an absolute great ally for her.

"You can't even do your job properly, you poor excuse of a maid."

Lady Melissa's eyes looked to the side, just wondering whatever had happened for the Lady to be saying that to a maid.

It was Lady Yae, one of the Ladies who had put her through hell in her past life.

It would be a lie if Lady Melissa said that she didn't harbour any negative feelings for Lady Yae, after all she was one of the ladies Lady Melissa hated the most.

A woman who was famous amongst men, one in which they would call a goddess for her majestic pink hair and purple eyes, and her shy personality that she would act out in front of men, most of them being head over heels for her, as she got flowers every day from different men.

Even Lady Melissa herself admitted that Lady Yae was incredibly stunning, having the appearance of a goddess.

Apparently, the maid had accidentally spilt the tea she was serving to Lady Yae all over her thighs, and to make matters worse, the tea was scalding hot.

Lady Melissa raised her eyebrows, and last she recalled, Lady Yae was much more interesting than this.

Though maybe it was either a set-up to make it look like Lady Yae was a forgiving person, or that she acted kinder than usual because of the number of eyes staring at her.

After all, the one who was serving the tea was none other than Lady Yae's personal maid, her partner in crime for a lot of things.

Lady Melissa let out a smirk, she wasn't going to let things go so easily as she recalled the things Lady Yae had done to her in her previous life.

"You're dismissed."

Lady Yae said to the maid, as the maid was about to leave before Lady Melissa interrupted their conversation.

"Lady Yae, may I say something before the maid leaves?"

Lady Melissa politely asked as all eyes turned on her.

"Of course, be my guest."

Lady Yae said as Lady Melissa was a little irked with how sweetly she sounded, though she didn't show it, maintaining her smile.

"I believe that the maid deserves a punishment, how could a lowly insolent maid like her dare to even do such a thing to you? I'm sure you have burns, and I believe that the maid deserves a punishment. She needs to be put in her place, she's just a maid."

Lady Melissa said, determined to get Lady Yae's personal maid into trouble, as she noticed Lady Yae's face became panicked for a few seconds, before she quickly regained her composure, answering Lady Melissa's words.

"I believe this is more than alright Lady Melissa, do I need to remind you that she is MY maid?"

Lady Yae said as she made sure to raise her voice when saying my, emphasizing on it in hopes of getting the noblewomen siding with her.
