Chapter 208 - 208

"I agree, later than darling."

Duke Mason said, as in the blink of an eye he had somehow completely disappeared in front of Lady Melissa, as Lady Melissa calmly shut the window.

'I'm offended she didn't react.'

Duke Mason thought, maybe he needed to surprise her more-, in some kind of way since she was probably used to his antics now.

Least to say Lady Melissa wasn't happy with the amount of paperwork she had to deal with, plus the fact that she had to deal with the brunette-haired woman, whose name was apparently Camilia.

A fitting name for a person like her, someone who was an annoying piece of garbage-along with the Crown Prince of course; after all both of them were a couple for a reason.

Lady Melissa smiled, unaware of the pair of eyes that were staring at her from the dark.

After what had seemed like ages to her, Lady Melissa was finished with her work; and by now it had already been past 7 p.m.

'Guess I'll be skipping dinner then.'

Lady Melissa thought, not realizing that she had said the words aloud as she soon yawned, stretching her eyes as she could feel her arse hurting because of how long she had been sitting on her chair; too focused on the paperwork and getting it done to care for her body.

One of Lady Melissa's bad habits when she was focusing too much, she would end up not caring for her surroundings, or anything that was happening to her for that matter, even if it included herself.

To be quite frank Lady Melissa didn't have an appetite at all, and neither was she wanted to eat, not that it was necessarily a bad thing though since now she could focus more on Camilia.

Lady Melissa went through her drawers, as she took out the file that Duke Mason had earlier given to her.

Lady Melissa's cheeks flushed as she remembered the incidents that had happened earlier; his warm breath just a few feet from hers and how easily she could've ju-.

Lady Melissa soon stopped herself though, she couldn't let herself get swayed by Duke Mason, no matter how attractive or good-looking he was.

Lady Melissa looked through Camilia's file.

Her name was apparently Camilia, a peasant, as Lady Melissa widened her eyes, a peasant with a noble? And it was the Crown Prince no less?

Lady Melissa's eyes were filled with a glint of amusement and excitement, who knows what the nobles would do once they found out about this.

Perhaps she would be so kind to accidentally reveal the fact that Camila was a peasant to the nobles.

Lady Melissa's eyes widened at the next bit of information; Camilia was 24, older than the Crown Prince, although she didn't have anything against couples with women older than men, it came as a surprise to her because of how young she looked.

One more thing the nobles wouldn't like; at least most of them anyway.

After that, there was only one last bit of information for Lady Melissa to read; how the Crown Prince and Camilia had met.

Apparently, Camilia had been in the same place as where the Crown Prince rudely rejected one of his 'playthings' feelings, telling her how much she was just a toy to him, and that he had never meant any of the words he had said to her.

'Typical Henry.'

Lady Melissa thought as she rolled her eyes, he was the worst kind of scum.

Camilia had seen the girl runoff, and the man who she 'didn't know' left alone as she came to ask him what had just happened right in front of her eyes-, and that was how their relationship started.

As much as Lady Melissa couldn't believe it, there was no other explanation, the Crown Prince had fallen in love.

'Ew.'

Lady Melissa thought, after all, what kind of other explanation was there to this whole complicated scenario?

After all; both of them got engaged in a few weeks time.

Perhaps Camilia had been pressured into accepting it because of his power.

'Something still doesn't feel right though, it just doesn't make sense.'

Lady Melissa thought as she felt that something wasn't right-something wasn't adding up, at least not to her.

Still, what reason would Camilia have for trying to murder Lady Melissa? Be it in real life or her nightmare- Lady Melissa had an unsettling feeling in her gut that the girl was bad news, though that was already as clear as day the moment Camilia started appearing in her nightmares.

Lady Melissa needed an appointment with Camilia, she knew that the Crown Prince wouldn't allow her to go and meet Camilia on her own; instead, she decided that she'd make some sort of excuse to see the King, then she'd make Camilia invite her to talk.

Lady Melissa wasn't sure how she was going to get Camilia to invite her to have a chat, but she knew that she was going to figure it out, she had a plan.

She always did, eventually, even if it was a reckless one.

For the meantime, Lady Melissa would relax, deciding that she'd meet the King tomorrow, the same day the new bodyguards would arrive.

Lady Melissa bit the inside of the cheek, she needed to send a letter to the King to see whether he would even allow her to set foot in the royal palace, if he didn't then she wouldn't even have a chance of getting in.

Perhaps if that was the case- she'd send the letter to him tomorrow, and the day after she'd visit the royal palace.

That is if the King accepted her request anyways, Lady Melissa knew that he couldn't say no.

In some way, the royal family was wrapped in the Shayla family's strings.

And Lady Melissa wasn't planning on letting that change.

Unlike the many other nobles that worked in the royal family, or just in general, the royal family didn't have a leash on the Shayla family, and Lady Melissa was planning to keep things that way.
