Besides, it'd put a good impression on the nobles, and the public, plus she would be able to see and meet cute adorable kids and help them out. So it was a win-win for everyone.
Lady Melissa wasn't planning to let anyone know about her visiting the charity, it was only going to be between her, the owner of the orphanage and one of the bodyguards that she was going to be taking with her.
Soon enough, it was time for Lady Melissa to get herself ready as she locked the door, going into the dressing room to make sure she wore something good enough to her meeting with Duke Alphonso.
Lady Melissa had bribed her carriage driver into bringing her to the venue, making sure that if word of this ever got leaked-or found out for the matter, something bad would happen to him, which he gulped.
Lady Melissa offered a couple of dozen gold coins to him, to which he immediately agreed to her request, as if his monthly salary from her father wasn't enough, as Lady Melissa rolled her eyes.
The carriage driver made some stupid excuse of saying that the carriage needed to be cleaned or something, to which the guards although reluctant, allowed him to pass.
The driver was happy with the amount of money that he was receiving- after all how could he not be?
Lady Melissa made a mental note to herself to check on the other employees, she couldn't have everyone who was working on the Shayla estate be bribed with even the slightest bit of money.
Lady Melissa did decide that it was best for her to keep some employees who would be easily bribed though- for the sake of her own good.
Under the exception that they can only be bribed by her in the end they would still be loyal to her.
Lady Melissa was looking through the window as she patiently waited to arrive at La Vien En Rose, careful that the driver parked somewhere so the peasants wouldn't be able to see them.
"I'll be back in a few hours, don't go anywhere or else..."
Lady Melissa said to the driver, as she menacingly glared at him, as he nodded his head almost immediately, seeing her terrifying glare was enough to send chills to his body.
Lady Melissa entered the shop as she took a seat, glancing at her clock, there was ten minutes or so before he would arrive, and Lady Melissa patiently waited for Duke Alphonso, her hand on her cheek as she stared at her surroundings.
Lady Melissa had chosen to sit inside of the shop instead of last time whereas she was with Duke Gaston where she had to sit outside.
Since she thought that Duke Alphonso would prefer sitting inside rather than sitting outside, and you know it, she was completely right with her guess.
"Greetings Lady Melissa."
Duke Alphonso said as he bowed at her, standing.
"Greetings Duke Alphonso."
Lady Melissa said as she did the same thing to him.
"You can drop the formalities."
Lady Melissa said as Duke Alphonso was getting into his chair as he merely nodded at her request- or order since it sounded like one.
After what had seemed like a lot of talking, on Lady Melissa's part, and the same stoic expression Duke Alphonso had the entire time, it was least to say that Lady Melissa was tired with all the talking.
"Would you perhaps want to take a little break, Lady Melissa? You look a little tired."
Duke Alphonso politely said as he asked whether she would like a break from all the talk regarding the Crown Prince.
"I can discuss things about the Crown Prince with you while we take a break- or you take a break since you've done all the talking until now."
Duke Alphonso said as Lady Melissa nodded her head.
Lady Melissa took the bell that was on her table as she shook it, and within a minute, a waitress appeared, ready to take her order.
"Greetings Lady Melissa and Duke Alphonso, what would the both of you like to have?"
The waitress said as she did a quick bow, secretly glancing at Lady Melissa and Duke Alphonso for a few seconds before she gave a cheery smile, the one she would always use to customers when taking their orders.
"I'd like to have the oreo milkshake with the banana split please."
Lady Melissa said as the waitress nodded her head, quickly writing down on the piece of paper that she had.
"What would the young gentleman have?"
The waitress asked as she gazed at Duke Alphonso, not making eye contact with him at all as he was too busy staring at Lady Melissa, who didn't notice the entire time as she was reading the menu.
"I'll have whatever she's having."
Duke Alphonso said as the waitress nodded her head.
"Your orders should be out in a while."
The waitress said as she did another quick bow before she left, leaving the both of them alone with each other.
"So, I want to know about the Crown Prince, and since you did say that you'd talk. Can I ask some questions regarding the Crown Prince?"
Lady Melissa asked as she made eye contact with Duke Alphonso, as he took the cup of tea, sipping it whilst still making eye contact with Lady Melissa.
"Go ahead, though I can't promise that I'll answer every single one of them, some things are better left unknown, or else I'll have my head on the platter by the royal family."
Duke Alphonso said, trying to make it sound like a joke whilst Lady Melissa knew that it was completely possible.
The royal family was ruthless and had practically no sympathy to any traitors of theirs, which was understandable, to say the least, Lady Melissa herself had a few dealings with some traitors that worked in the Shayla estate in her previous life, ones she had made sure to fire when she had gotten her second chance in life.
