Lady Melissa let out a sigh of relief, as much fun she had earlier, and as amusing and entertaining it was for her, she was glad that all of it was finally done with, after all, she had quite the time dealing with two of the royal family members- though technically it'd be three if the Crown Prince and Lady Camilia did one day eventually get married and ended up together.
Lady Melissa enjoyed the day, she had managed to reach her goal of successfully negotiating with the King, as well as bumping into Lady Camilia, and even spending an hour or two chatting to the Queen.
Lady Melissa knew that this wasn't going to be it though- she had a feeling that something big was going to happen, something dangerous perhaps- whatever it was, it caused an unsettling feeling in her gut.
But until tomorrow came, Lady Melissa was going to relax, at least for the next few minutes since she'd have to throw herself back into the numerous piles of paperwork on her desk sooner or later.
She wouldn't be panicking for tomorrow, though she probably should've been since she had an unsettling feeling in her gut- she felt as if no matter what happened tomorrow, it would be completely fine.
Or so she thought.
Her eyes widened, hearing Lady Camilia's words, she definitely hadn't prepared herself for this, and she should've prepared herself more, the possibility was always there though, but out of all the people she hadn't expected Lady Camilia to be the one who had time travelled along with her.
Multiple questions filled Lady Melissa's head, it had made so much more sense to Lady Melissa now, how Lady Melissa felt as if she already knew her from the past- though there were more than a dozen things that still didn't add up at least not to Lady Melissa.
Lady Melissa's eyes flickered multiple times- as she hesitated whether she should ask Lady Camilia the multiple questions she had filling up her head, as she bit her lip whilst doing so, Lady Camilia was now more dangerous to her than ever.
Before Lady Melissa could even get a word or even anything spoken out though, Lady Camilia had already left, leaving Lady Melissa to see no traces of her- wondering if perhaps she had been hallucinating, or whether Lady Camilia was really there.
Lady Melissa was so conflicted, she didn't know what to do anymore, though it'd be a lie if she was saying she hadn't expected this, though for the time being she'd just panic for a few hours and then think of a plan or something.
Lady Camilia couldn't have picked any better timing though, considering the fact that she was supposed to be meeting the King, and she was actually on her way to see him right now, but her head was a mess.
Lady Melissa knew that she'd be regretting the decision of ditching the King and making him wait hours, so she decided not to do that, as she pulled herself together, putting on that stoic demeanour she would always have, though there was something different in her eyes this time.
Perhaps it was amusement? Or surprise? Whatever it was, it had lit a fire inside of Lady Melissa, one that would take a long time to extinguish, or at least until she had reached her goal.
Lady Melissa entered the room where the King was- the one where he would always use when having a private audience with one of the nobles, as Lady Melissa whilst still maintaining her stoic demeanour, put on a smile.
It wasn't a happy smile, nor was it a sad one- but something about her smile had seemed so creepy and ominous, something that the King had caught on to as Lady Melissa could see a mischievous and amused glint in his eyes.
Nobody would be able to guess that the girl, who was maintaining her stoic demeanour, with a confident smile on her face, had been breaking down just a few minutes ago before she had come to talk to the King.
"The contract's on the desk, go and get it."
The King said as he ordered Lady Melissa to go get her part of the contract- as she did so, seeing that the King already had his, or at least she assumed so since he was holding paper in his hands, a lot of pages in it if she might add.
Lady Melissa's eyes narrowed, as she headed right, getting her part of the contract as she assumed that the King had made two copies of it, probably more just in case anything ever happened.
"Just skim through it, I'll wait for you to be done."
The King said, sounding as if he was patient- whilst in all reality, he wasn't, he was both furious and impressed at the Lady standing in front of him who had managed to negotiate with him, and under her choices no less.
Lady Melissa knew better than to read the entirety of the contract, though she decided to take the King's advice as she skimmed through the contract- as it contained thirty pages of it, so it did take quite a while for Lady Melissa to skim through the entirety of the contract, as she could feel the King's intense gaze under her figure.
Lady Melissa could hear the King clicking his pen over and over again, as she grew a little irritated and annoyed, though she didn't say anything about it, of course, not wanting him to suddenly throw the whole deal off.
She knew that the King was petty, she had heard it numerous times from the Crown Prince, and although she hadn't believed most of his words most of the time, she knew that he was right about this one.
Call it an intuition or a gut feeling, but Lady Melissa knew the King was petty- even though she had no conclusive evidence for it, she just felt that he was petty, and based on how he acted it certainly seemed like it.
