Chapter 269 - 269

"I'd be interested in learning more about you."

Lady Melissa said, as she let out a hum, which sounded like music to Duke Alphonso's ears (which it technically was).

"The feeling is mutual, though I suggest we can ask each other a few questions or so. I'm not sure if you've heard of this game, but we can play the game 'Drink Or Not'."

Duke Alphonso said, as Lady Melisa's eyes widened a bit, she had heard the name before, as she was quite familiar with the game.

She had made a few bad choices in her past life which consisted of that game, ones which she'd prefer not to remember if possible.

"Yes, I'm familiar with it."

Lady Melissa said, as Duke Alphonso was a little surprised since the game was usually played amongst men, and almost never women, though he quickly went back to his calm composure.

"So, what do you say?"

Duke Alphonso asked, a smirk on his face which tempted Lady Melissa to say 'yes.'

Lady Melissa knew better than to say yes immediately though, considering the fact that she would be alone in the room with Duke Alphonso, and the both of them would spend hours with each other- drinking, and Lady Melissa could accidentally let out a secret or two during the time.

However, it was a good time as well for Lady Melissa to learn more about Duke Alphonso, as she considered both options, as the both of them equally had their pros and cons, and she definitely didn't want to end up having more cons than pros in the situation.

Although Lady Melissa had her bodyguards in the very same room of hers, she knew that Duke Alphonso would find some sort of way so they wouldn't notice, after all, even if he didn't have the brawns he certainly had the brains.

Lady Melissa let out a sigh, as she hoped that she wouldn't regret this decision in the future, as she nodded her head to Duke Alphonso's question, who let out a bright smile in return.

Lady Melissa was drunk, there was no doubt about it, the tea had already been delivered hours ago, as Lady Melissa brought the tray in her room herself, which ended up surprising Duke Alphonso about, but nonetheless, he said nothing about it, instead thanking her for the tea to which she warmly gave him a smile in return to.

Lady Melissa let out a few hiccups, as she felt dizzy, pinching Duke Alphonso's cheeks between each other; she hadn't remembered exactly how many shots she had taken, but she had assumed that it was approximately twenty.

She had lost count after she had drunk ten shots.

Though she hadn't expected that Duke Alphonso was that good at containing his alcohol, as even though he was drunk, he was still slightly more sober than her, as he wasn't slurring at his words at all, and neither did he have any sort of shaky hands.

Lady Melissa was pretty sure that the man in front of her wasn't losing his vision.

Lady Melissa to a certain extent wasn't drunk though, it was true that she was having hiccups, but she wasn't that drunk for her to act this way- she was pretending, pretending to be drunk so she'd be able to learn more information from Duke Alphonso.

Lady Melissa dropped her head on the table, as Duke Alphonso sent her a worried gaze, before checking the time, as he spent the next few seconds wondering what to do next, before he made his decision, Lady Melissa still closing her eyes on the table.

Duke Alphonso stood up, as he sent her a gaze, before he approached her closer, as Lady Melissa was ready to defend herself from him any second now before he did something unexpected to her.

Duke Alphonso carried her, as he placed her arms on his neck, using his arms to carry her body, as Lady Melissa's hands were, on his chest.

Lady Melissa was trying her best not to wake up as she felt embarrassed with everything that was going on, though admittedly, she wouldn't mind being carried like this again.

Duke Alphonso carefully placed Lady Melissa on her bed, tucking her in as he quickly rinsed the wine glasses in the bathroom, placing them there and the champagne bottle back to Lady Melissa's cabinet, as he turned off the lights.

Duke Alphonso got on his knees, as he took Lady Melissa's right hand, kissing it before he mumbled something under his breath.

'Princess.'

Duke Alphonso muttered, as he soon left her window, closing it shut before leaving.

Unbeknownst to him, Lady Melissa had heard everything he was saying- as she blushed profusely after he had left, letting out a sigh as her eyes woke up.

However, the next few seconds she was starting to get sleepy, as she started to slowly close her eyes, falling into the temptation.

Lady Melissa woke up the next day, and needless to say that she had just gotten the best sleep of her entire life- she had slept like a baby, not even waking up or having a nightmare.

Lady Melissa's eyes widened as she remembered last night's events, as her cheeks turned bright red, and so did her ears, as she screamed into her pillow.

Though she made sure not to do it too loud, not wanting her bodyguards to think that she was in any sort of trouble, plus she was suffering the decision of drinking more than twenty shots from last night (although she had assumed that she ended up drinking twenty, she was sure that the number was far from that).

She had actually managed to drink a sort of potion that would keep her awake for the next few hours, though she'd be suffering from the consequences of drinking that much alcohol later on, so the potion could only delay the effects, not being able to erase the hangover that she would have.
