"It's nothing."
Lady Melissa said, as Duke Gaston nodded his head, their guards had already been up from the entire time- but the squirrel had made their guards up even higher if that was possible, and they were more than alert at even the slightest sounds, be it a bird chir[ing, or a branch cracking.
"Let's stay here for tonight."
Duke Gaston said, as the both of them stopped in a cave, as Lady Melissa, even though she didn't want to know that the cave was probably the best place to stay at for the meantime, after all, the forest wasn't the safest place right now, and especially not during the nighttime, especially when it was quite near compared to the place where she had been kidnapped earlier.
"Alright."
Lady Melissa said, as she finally let go of the grip she had on Duke Gaston's hand, the man doing the same thing to her.
"I'll go get some firewood, you can stay here."
Duke Gaston said, as Lady Melissa, who was reluctant to let the man go alone, and suggest that the both of them should just go as partners, had left her, leaving her all alone, in the cave which was practically pitch black at this point.
Lady Melissa wasn't exactly 'scared' perhaps the more fitting term was that she was worried for Duke Gaston, given that she wasn't exactly the closest to him, but she had cared for him (even if she would never admit that fact aloud for anyone to hear it).
Lady Melissa couldn't count the number of times where Duke Gaston had managed to save the day, whether he knew it or not, and the man was always a gentleman, genuinely caring about her and whether she was comfortable with such things, as he never pushed any of her boundaries.
Lady Melissa decided that she'd just stay at the cave, waiting for Duke Gaston since it would practically be no use if she went to the forest as well, after all, the only thing that they would end up having is the both of them lost from each other.
Lady Melissa decided that she'd make some sort of matching ring or such with Duke Gaston as well, seeing that he would probably be saving her life in the next few times as well.
Lady Melissa was grateful that Duke Gaston had gone and searched for her, she had always felt that nobody was ever going to notice her presence if she had ever disappeared and that nobody would ever care.
She wasn't exactly the most optimistic person, and neither was she the most pessimistic person, but she had her own doubts about things, and she doubted that people would genuinely miss her if she ever died or would suddenly disappear.
It was another one of her questions that would just appear randomly, at the most random of times, and this was one of them.
Lady Melissa already had more than a few suspicions as to the place from earlier, but she was going to act on them later on, when she had left safely from this place, since it was obviously dangerous, considering the fact that Lady Melissa had gotten kidnapped.
Lady Melissa would've loved to bring back Victoria's dead body from earlier, just to make sure that this time she actually died, but she'd have to wait since neither she nor Duke Gaston would want to carry a dead body in the middle of the night.
Reasonably so too, after all, it was already going to be difficult in case they encountered any huge obstacles, and with the extra weight? Their reflexes would certainly be slower with all the extra weight.
Especially their speed and mobility would be slower than usual due to the extra weight that either of them would be carrying, and Lady Melissa wouldn't be the most comfortable carrying a DEAD body in the middle of the night.
If it was in the morning it'd be better since she could at the very least be able to see her surroundings, but this was in the middle of the night- where strange occurrences and such were bound to happen, almost as if it was an unwritten rule.
Lady Melissa heard footsteps, as she braced herself, just in case that it wasn't Duke Gaston, hiding deeper inside the cave so that whoever it was wouldn't be able to see her due to the fact that there was practically no lighting in the cave.
However, Lady Melissa would be able to see their appearance due to the bright moon, which she was thankful for since it had certainly helped her and Duke Gaston a lot with finding their way in the forest.
Lady Melissa let out a sigh of relief, as she saw who it was, it was Duke Gaston, thankfully, before she stopped to observe his appearance. He was sweating and breathing heavily, her eyes trailing his muscular figure.
His shirt was unbuttoned as well, probably due to how hot it was, though it was surprisingly quite chilly inside of the cave- which she hadn't initially expected.
Lady Melissa's eyes trailed to Duke Gaston's lower region, her eyes stopping at his hands, as she finally noticed the pieces of wood that he was carrying with him on both arms, sweat dripping down his forehead to the inside of his shirt.
Lady Melissa let out a blush, as she covered her face, the blush hence not being visible to Duke Gaston, as she slowly approached him, releasing her hands from her face, as he stared at her, somehow he had only seemed more dashingly handsome under the bright moonlight.
"I've got the wood."
Duke Gaston said, as he held up the numerous pieces of wood that he was carrying on both of his arms, as Lady Melissa nodded her head in reply, trying to stop herself from thinking about the fact that his shirt was unbuttoned.
"Let's light a fire since it's pretty chilly right now."
Lady Melissa said, as Duke Gaston nodded his head, both of them having their own chances to start their own fire- before eventually, Duke Gaston managed to light a fire, as Lady Melissa found out that she was absolutely horrible at lighting a fire.
