"The decision is final, if you try and say something to my face it'll get extended for another month."
The Duke said, as Lady Melissa immediately shut herself up, acting as if she was sad with the entire thing.
Looks like Lady Melissa just needed to be more creative this time, and think of ways how to sneak out without either of her parents' knowledge.
"You may excuse yourself now Melissa, I have to discuss something with your father."
The Duchess said as Lady Melissa nodded her head, bowing down.
If Lady Melissa were to guess, the Duchess was probably going to talk to the Duke regarding Lady Melisssa's grounding, a month was enough for people to make rumours on what had happened to her.
Lady Melissa walked back to her room- as her bodyguards were already waiting for her outside of it, or at least Nathan and Justin were along with Sophia who was beyond relieved to see her mistress.
"Lady Melissa, are you okay? I'm so sorry that I wasn't there by your side."
Sophia said, immediately bowing her head down to Lady Melissa as she apologized profusely to the woman in front of her over and over again, feeling as if it was somehow her fault that Lady Melissa had disappeared for fifteen hours straight.
"I'm fine Sophia, even if you were there I'd doubt you'd be able to help me, instead we'd just end up wasting more resources altogether- though I appreciate the concern."
Lady Melissa said, brushing off Sophia's worries with her words, even though they sounded rude and mean, the woman wanted to let Sophia know that all of this wasn't any of her fault at all.
Lady Melissa entered her room, she'd give her bodyguards or at least Justin some truth about what had happened to her- though she wasn't going to do it now.
Between the fact that Lady Melissa had just returned back home from being lost for fifteen hours then there was no doubt that security measures for the house had obviously been tightened by a lot.
This meant that Lady Melissa was going to have a much harder time trying to sneak out from the Shayla estate compared to how it used to be so much easier since the security measures were quite lenient if she could say so herself.
Lady Melissa looked through the window, as she opened the curtains staring down at the people from her window, as she observed how the guards were structured amongst the Shayla estate.
Lady Melissa had noticed that there were two guards together, which was probably so if something happened to the first guard- the other guard would still be able to protect the Shayla estate or something.
Which meant that it would make things much much much more difficult for Lady Melissa since she needed to sneak out with twice the number of guards compared to how it usually was.
Not only were the guards increased- but they were much much more skilful and alert than the usual ones- which in other words meant that Lady Melissa was going to be in trouble.
A day had passed ever since then, and least to say Lady Melissa wasn't enjoying her time at all being grounded at home, she had originally thought that only the number of guards was increased- yet she was proven wrong.
In addition to her personal guards that would keep watch of her, her parents had hired other guards as well for her- guards who would only report to her parents and her parents alone.
Admittedly though Lady Melissa was quite impressed with how her parents were able to get all of this done in such a short period of time, though her feelings were also mixed with irritation due to the fact of how everything was much much more complicated now.
Lady Melissa now had a total of three guards guarding her and watching her every move- the first one being her own bodyguard and the remaining two were bodyguards from her father, Lady Melissa assumed that there were two because it would be safer in case anything happened to the other bodyguard.
In addition to that, the two other bodyguards that her father had sent to protect her- more like watch her every move and report any suspicious activity to her father, though that story was for another day.
The two bodyguards that her father had sent would change their shifts- as if it wasn't the same two bodyguards who would be guarding her the entire day, they would often change shifts with each other.
In total there were around eight to ten bodyguards that the Duke had assigned to his daughter, and Lady Melissa's period of groundedness still hadn't been lifted, and Lady Melissa had accepted her fate.
Though just because the fact that she had accepted the fact that she was grounded didn't mean that she was going to do anything against it- after all, she just needed to find a way to escape.
Plus, she hadn't even given the deed to the Shayla estate's mines to the royal palace, and it was going to be more complicated since she'd have to sneak out to do so, and her parents mustn't be aware of her going to the royal palace or else she'd be doomed.
Lady Melissa would be fine with a week of grounding- yet a month was obviously too far, she was sure that people were going to end up making rumours that she had run away with Duke Gasston or such, though luckily Duke Gaston would still be appearing in public events to discourage those very same rumours.
Lady Melissa was working on a potion, after her grounding from the Duke, she wasn't allowed to go downstairs, and even if she was, it was only for a limited period of time, though luckily she was allowed to do her swordsmanship lessons in the open where she would be able to feel freer compared to if she did her swordsmanship lessons in a limited space.
