However even the thought of that brought a question or two to Lady Melissa's brain, how sad and lonely was she in her past life? She was absolutely sure that in the past she wouldn't complain at all at being grounded.
Perhaps in the past she would even be ecstatic hearing the news that she would finally have a reason not to attend any sort of social gatherings, events or etc, but that was different now, now Lady Melissa had a social life.
Which sounded incredibly depressing considering the fact that Lady Melissa didn't have a social life in her past life, but all things change right? Luckily she had a social life now, so much so that she was dejected not being able to go to social gatherings and events, even though it was just for a month.
Before Lady Melissa even knew it though- three days had passed quicker than she expected, though least to say it was one of the most boring 3 days in her life, she was once again- stressed with the amount of paperwork.
Tomorrow would be the last day that she would be grounded, and then the day after that she'd finally have a taste of freedom- a taste of what it felt like meeting other people than the ones she would meet every day.
In less than 72 hours, Lady Melissa would finally be able to get a taste of that freedom, and she would be attending Duke Mason's party as well, already knowing that her appearance at his ball would cause a huge uproar amongst society.
Needless to say, Lady Melissa was more than excited to see how this would all go down- so excited that in fact, she hadn't slept for days (which she honestly wasn't sure was excitement or just because of the fact that she can't usually sleep anymore even though the nightmares had disappeared).
Though Lady Melissa believed that the reason she wasn't able to sleep was because of the two reasons, just not being able to sleep in general due to the nightmares that would haunt her almost every time she successfully slept (even though she had no more nightmares about Lady Camilia now, though every once in a while she would have nightmares regarding other things).
Or that Lady Melissa was feeling excited to finally be back in society and be the centre of everyone's attention, she would once again be the apple of everyone's eyes, the attention she craved for.
Perhaps the reason that Lady Melissa craved so much attention was because of the fact that her parents wouldn't give her any, hence she would move her efforts of attention from her parents to something and someone else.
She would make attempts at trying to get everyone's attention in society, and it worked, just like how she expected it to- though she didn't think that she would get this much attention, since well, she had so much competition.
She believed that there were women much more elegant and prettier than her, though perhaps what made Lady Melissa so charming and alluring was something different- she was refreshing in a way.
Lady Melissa was refreshing in a way, her nonchalant attitude acting as if she didn't care about anything at all when in reality, she was a mess inside, her heart beating like crazy with adrenaline rushing through her veins- knowing that if she made a simple mistake she was going to be left with no one.
Maybe it was Lady Melissa's bravery to stand up for herself, or perhaps it was her kind and a charming attitude that would draw in others to her and cause women to be jealous, but whatever it was, it certainly kept people interested in her.
Lady Melissa still hadn't seen a glimpse of her parents at all, even though she was almost gonna be done with her grounding, her parents were just so busy that she didn't even manage to get a glimpse of them.
Lady Melissa was just doing another pile of paperwork, nothing new, it was an incredibly boring day as usual, as she had just finished her swordsmanship lessons (Duchess Ella brightened up her day a bit by cracking a few jokes every now and then that would give Lady Melissa a laugh or two).
Duchess Ella had healed entirely ever since the hunting event that was hosted by the King, where the Crown Prince had first announced his engagement to his new fiance Lady Camilia, as Lady Melissa wondered what had happened to the woman.
Lady Melissa had heard from the maids that Lady Camilia had disappeared, yet she wasn't fully sure about it since there was no sort of news about her- no gossip articles, no news articles or just anything, it was almost as if someone was paying for her to not be on the news articles.
Then again though, even if she was going to be on the news they would just be praising her and complimenting her, no one was ever brave enough to publicly criticize a royal family member or at least one that was going to be a royal family member soon enough.
The same went with the Crown Prince, his father, and even the Queen, when the news was reported on them it would never be bad- after all, the people knew not to cross their boundaries, knowing that their publishing company could be shut at any second the moment they tried to criticize the royal family.
In the end, whether people consciously or subconsciously realized it or not, they were walking on eggshells whenever it was about the royal family or the royal palace for that sort- they made sure not to offend the royal family in any way.
The people who were brave enough to even criticize the royal family would just mysteriously 'disappear' or 'get lost' in a span of a couple of days, which was a warning for the rest of the people who would talk badly about the royal family.
