"You would make a great doctor if you're ever planning to retire from this…"
Lady Melissa blurted out, not realizing she had said her thoughts out loud.
"I'm sure that you'd know the chains that the royal family keeps us on, and that we won't be able to escape them, I might be free from one of them but I would never ever be able to escape from all of them."
Duke Alphonso said, a sad smile on his face as Lady Melissa empathized with him, she was sure that if he was given the chance to get out of this hellhole and stop working for the royal family he would do so.
However, not all things were that easy, and Duke Alphonso better than anyone knew the reality of his situation- knew that there wasn't much of a chance for him to completely escape from the royal family's shackles.
The reason that he had agreed to join Lady Melissa's rebellion - or at least one of the reasons was because he wanted to be free from the main chain that was tied to him- and that was none other than the Crown Prince.
Duke Alphonso was a realist though, and he knew that no matter what happened- he wouldn't ever be able to escape from the royal family's grasp, which was a sad reality- but nonetheless, it was the reality that he was living in right now.
"I see."
Lady Melissa blankly replied to Duke Alphonso's words, although she sympathized for the man and felt bad for him, she didn't know what to say to him- or how to make him feel better since she wasn't used to comforting someone, or someone comforting her for that matter.
Lady Melissa was much more used to bottling up her emotions and when she let them down she would just cry the emotions out, and no one would be there to comfort her whilst she was doing so.
"Well, anyway, I think you could be a doctor in your next life, your skills look pretty doctor-like."
Lady Melissa said as Duke Alphonso chuckled a bit in response to her statement.
"I don't think a lot of people knows this, but I used to study medicine, and I worked on a few patients before in the past, though most of the time I would usually observe how my teacher would work on the surgeries, of course from the outside since I wasn't allowed to watch it from the inside."
Duke Alphonso said, explaining a bit about his skills and why the man just seemed doctor-like to Lady Melissa, and the woman certainly had not expected this reason, but yet at the same time, she wasn't that surprised.
Duke Alphonso looked like he was a doctor, maybe it was her persuading herself that Duke Alphonso would be a great doctor, but whatever it was, she was sure that he would make a great doctor with his current skills, though that was another story for another day.
"Alright, I'm done, I guess I'll be taking my leave now Lady Melissa, it was nice seeing you and I would like to apologize for ruining your room, I've fixed the window earlier which I'm not sure you've noticed or not, I'll see you soon. Good-"
Duke Alphonso said before he was suddenly cut off by Lady Melissa.
"You're not leaving so fast Duke Alphonso, if I could recall, we had a deal where I would only allow you to treat my injuries if you allowed me to do the same earlier, or perhaps did I remember the deal wrongly Duke Alphonso?"
Lady Melissa asked, venom laced in her sentence as she had grabbed the man by the collar, preventing him from teleporting back to the Peagler estate, especially since she was sure his injuries still hadn't been treated yet.
"Oh Lady Melissa, you don't have to worry about that, I've burdened you long enough and it's been hours ever since my arrival here, I'm sure you'd prefer to spend the next few hours sleeping since it's going to be morning pretty soon."
Duke Alphonso said, as he tried his best to convince Lady Melissa to let him go, after all, what he was saying to her was true- he did feel like a burden to her, plus he felt even guiltier after even going to her house uninvited and bringing snipers along with her, which the both of them had luckily still been alive after.
"Oh please Duke Alphonso, I insist, I'd love nothing more but to spend my time treating your wounds, plus, you're not a burden to me, though I'd prefer it more if next time you send me a notice that you're going to my house a few minutes or hours in advance, and not bring any sort of snipers or assassins with you."
Lady Melissa said, as she forced Duke Alphonso to sit down on the chair, as the man exhaled a sigh of defeat, knowing that he wasn't going to be able to win against Lady Melissa, though he did feel much better after hearing those words from her.
Duke Alphonso took off his suit, as well as his shirt, as Lady Melissa let out a shriek in surprise, wondering whatever the man was doing, by taking off his shirt, as her face turned into a bright red.
"Eek! What are you doing?"
Lady Melissa said, using her hands to cover her eyes- although she was tempted to open her eyes and see Duke Alphonso's body since she was just dying to know- though she had to stop herself before any impure thoughts were going to be running around her head.
"What's wrong Lady Melissa? Didn't you say earlier that you wanted to treat and bandage my wounds? Is there a problem? My wounds are near my stomach area so I had to undress a bit unless you're thinking of other things ...."
Duke Alphonso said, acting dumbfounded as to why Lady Melissa had been acting this way, although he knew exactly what he was doing and why it had such an effect on Lady Melissa, but it wouldn't hurt to tease her a bit.
