Chapter 302

Lady Melissa felt bad seeing the number of scars on Duke Alphonso's back, it brought some flashbacks to her old childhood as well- though the scars would luckily never get that bad for them to remain permanently.

At most the scars would just last around a week or two for her, yet the ones on Duke Alphonso's looked like it had been there for years- YEARS, which was just insane for Lady Melissa (and not in a good way).

It was disappointing really, no one should ever do that to a child, giving them trauma and abusing them as well as giving them permanent scars for life.

Lady Melissa wanted to pry more about Duke Alphonso's history about the scars that he had received on his back- but of course, she knew better than to do so, she had seen his reaction from earlier when he had noticed she saw his scar, and she knew that he wouldn't be comfortable with telling her about it.

Lady Melisa could understand why Duke Alphonso had reacted that way- he had gone through a shit ton of bad experiences from the scars, and he wasn't ready to open up to her and explain how he had gotten them, and that was alright.

Besides, Lady Melissa would've probably done the same if she was in Duke Alphonso's shoes, or perhaps she'd do something even worse and end up accidentally pushing a person away when they were just helping her and trying to make sure she was alright.

Nonetheless, though, Lady Melissa was still extremely curious about all the scars on Duke Alphonso's back, but she reminded herself that it was Duke Alphonso's choice to tell her about it, no matter how curious she was, she knew better than to investigate about the man's scars on his back.

Lady Melissa decided that she'd simply wait for Duke Alphonso until he was ready to tell her all about how he had gained the scars on his back, and until then, Lady Melissa would hopefully get closer to Duke Alphonso.

Lady Melissa let out a yawn, as she was only reminded how late it had gotten, as she quickly glanced at the clock, her eyes starting to water because of the yawn she had just a few seconds prior.

Lady Melissa's eyes widened seeing the time, as she let out a sigh, she was definitely going to be having a headache or two the first thing in the morning, it was currently 3 A.M. The only problem was that she was supposed to be up by 5 AM.

Meaning that she only had two hours of sleep, though she doubted she'd be able to sleep after fighting a few snipers from earlier, the scene of them trying to kill Duke Alphonso with their bullets replaying in her mind.

Lady Melissa knew better than to be scared though, after all, if she was actually planning to take down the Crown Prince and was serious about this, then blood and guns, as well as swords, were going to be her best friends.

Lady Melissa still hadn't known how to use a gun though she was planning to ask Duke Mason for help, already knowing that the man was skilful on the weapon- though he was skilful at most weapons anyways due to his famous guild he ran

Duke Gaston on the other hand, who although admittedly was as skilled and talented as Duke Mason, and even knew how to use more weapons than Duke Mason, was much harder to approach for Lady Melissa.

Perhaps it was because of the bond that she had shared with Duke Mason, but she felt bad if she asked for help for gun lessons from Duke Gaston due to the very busy schedule he had working in the royal palace.

It was also why Lady Melissa didn't even consider Duke Alphonso to be an option to help her with her gun lessons since there was no doubt he was as busy as Duke Gaston due to being one of the Crown Prince's many advisors.

Or perhaps Duke Alphonso was even busier than Duke Gaston due to the fact that, unlike Duke Gaston, he directly worked under a royal family member- plus, he was the Crown Prince's favourite advisor, meaning more pressure and stress for the poor Duke Alphonso.

Another reason why Lady Melissa hadn't even considered Duke Alphonso to be much of an option to help her with her gun skills was that she wasn't even sure if he knew how to use a gun since he was more to the brains rather than the brawns.

Lady Melissa knew that Duke Alphonso was able to wield a sword, after all, she could tell based on his hands- they weren't smooth, they were ones that a swords person would have, and she could tell that he practised a lot on the swords just based on his hands.

Although Duke Alphonso never really revealed the ability that he knew how to wield a sword, she assumed that she'd have to know at least that much since well, he worked directly under the royal family.

Lady Melissa thought that it would be odd if the people that were working directly under the royal family weren't even able to at least wield one weapon properly just in case an emergency or situation were to arise.

Lady Melissa wondered whether she might as well ask Duke Gaston to teach her how to use an arrow and a bow, even though during the hunting event a few weeks prior she had hit the sniper right in the bullseye, she thought that she needed more practice.

Lady Melissa had learnt a little bit about the bow and the arrow during her previous life, although she wasn't very skilled in the activity she enjoyed it, even though it admittedly would drain a lot of her energy just from her pulling the arrow and shooting it.

It was an enjoyable activity though, so Lady Melissa was originally a bit surprised when her arrow had actually hit the sniper.
