Chapter 303

Lady Melissa decided that she'd spent the remaining two hours she had left before 5 AM to sleep, or at least try to get some sleep since she was just practically living off of both caffeine and tea now.

Lady Melissa turned off the lights, though perhaps she found it a little harder to sleep today than usual since she was constantly reminded of the fact that someone had sent snipers to her house- even though the target wasn't technically her.

Lady Melissa needed to get rid of her parents, every day that passed the both of them were constantly becoming a bigger and bigger problem for her, a problem that she would need to get rid of.

There were just so many things she needed for the Shayla estate to be able to do- like for example, tighten their security measures, which was ironic in a way since she wasn't even able to get out of the Shayla estate.

However, for some reason, it had seemed that the security was much weaker when it came to someone sneaking in, since their main and primary focus had been on someone sneaking out- more specifically on Lady Melisa sneaking out.

It was either that, or that Duke Alphonso had managed to bribe one or a few security guards to let him inside the Shayla estate, though Lady Melissa felt like the answer was more of the first choice rather than the second one.

Plus, with her parents around everything was much more complicated than ever, she needed to ask for their permission or approval for every little thing, from going out to even whether she could wear a certain outfit.

Every aspect of Lady Melissa's life had been controlled by her parents for the past years or so, and of course, Lady Melissa wanted to- for once have complete freedom of her life, being able to make all the decisions by herself.

If the decisions were bad ones then it would be alright, she'd suffer the consequences to her decisions alone- at least she'll suffer her consequences because she had the freedom to make her own decisions- rather than her parents forcing her to make that decision and her suffering from it in the future.

Lady Melissa wanted the taste of 'freedom' she was given a little bit of it, and she wanted to have complete freedom over her life after, though who could blame her with the amount of rules she had to follow with her parents around.

Lady Melissa was just so mentally tired of her life and everything just being controlled by her parents, as it played a huge impact in her mental health, it frustrated her how she couldn't make decisions on her own.

Hence, why Lady Melissa was planning to move somewhere- somewhere she would try to get the King to approve of under the reason of the Shayla mines, as well as to get him to pay for and hence she would show it to her parents, putting on a sob story and claiming that the King had forced her to stay there.

Lady Melissa was planning to go south from the Shayla estate, heading to 'Ekosta' a small region that only had two seasons for the entire year, hot and cold, Lady Melissa could also use the mines as an excuse for her to observe them, since when the temperatures would drop it would get very dangerous for the mines.

Lady Melissa knew that her parents wouldn't be able to bring up the matter to the KIng, after all, even though the Shayla family was one of the founding families, at the end of the day they were still the King's subjects, no matter how hard they tried not to be.

Lady Melissa had already found an empty castle in the area near the Shayla estate's mines, the only problem being that she needed approval from the King, which she still hadn't seen yet ever since the previous month.

However, she was going to be seeing him in just 2 days, so she might as well prepare herself and bring the topic up, since if she approached the King just carefully enough, perhaps the King would agree to her suggestion.

However, another problem would arise, what reason would she give her parents when they asked why she needed to move to Ekosta? She couldn't just say that it was for the Shayla mine estates- though eventually she knew that they were going to know about the entire thing.

Lady Melissa was just trying to take advantage of the time- and stall the entire thing for as long as possible, plus, they wouldn't be able to give much of a reaction since she had sold the mines to the King.

The Duke and the Duchess of the Shayla estate couldn't just approach the King casually and asked him to return the deed to the Shayla estate's mines, since the mines were legally now his property.

Lady Melissa let out a sigh, as she finally closed her eyes, slowly drifting off to the land of darkness as she had no dreams during the entire time that she had spent on sleeping (which ended up being only an hour).

Soon enough, after around an hour had passed, Lady Melissa woke up, for no particular reason at all, she just woke up- because her body wanted to, if that made sense. Lady Melissa let out a yawn, even though her body wanted this she didn't wanna wake up at 4 AM right now.

Lady Melissa looked in the mirror, as she thanked whatever entity was there that helped to prevent her from getting horrible eye bags, which she used to get early on, but she didn't have them now.

Lady Melissa was reminded of Duke Mason's party, as she remembered the invitation letter that he sent- which she would need to bring since the party was exclusive, and there would no doubt be a long list of Barons, Viscounts and Nobles asking to be let in.

Duke Mason's parties were much more elegant, and they had expensive wine, champagne, or any alcoholic drink (you name it) and it would be there, needless to say, it was a party for the alcoholics.
