Not only would Duke Mason's party contain expensive alcoholic drinks, but it would offer numerous exquisite dishes as well, having even retired chefs from the royal palace to cook the food.
The reason that Lady Melissa had known about this was because she could vividly remember news and gossip articles both alike talking about Duke Mason's exclusive party for the first few days, and how there was such a commotion regarding the topic.
The party that was talked about in the news and gossip articles was regarding Duke Mason's first party, due to its exclusivity news reporters wanted in- and so were the others, they wanted to know more.
Practically everyone in Duke Mason's party was either, a. Someone that Duke Mason was planning to use to his advantage for and to make a mutual agreement on or b. Someone powerful and strong that was one of Duke Mason's many allies.
Lady Melissa felt like she fell perfectly in the middle of those two combinations, since she didn't think that there was anything left for Duke Mason to take advantage of, and she was Duke Mason's ally, though at the same time she wouldn't consider their strange relationship as 'allies'.
Perhaps the more suitable word for their odd dynamic would be 'acquaintances' or even 'friends' since allies were strictly about business and serious things, however, friends were more informal and could joke around and play with each other.
Lady Melissa wasn't entirely sure whether Duke Gaston had gotten an invitation from Duke Mason to his party- though she knew that Duke Masn had gotten one since he had just told Lady Melissa earlier, a few hours ago, he had mentioned it.
Duke Gaston was Duke Mason's biggest competitor, since the both of them would be compared by the public so often, it was natural that Duke Mason would form a sort of resentment or dislike for the man.
After all, he was always compared as number 2 to Duke Gaston, always being the one that was second-best in everything, and Duke Gaston, of course being the one that was always the number 1.
Lady Melissa knew that Duke Gaston didn't have any sort of negative or ill feelings towards Duke Mason though, since Duke Mason had never attempted to do something dangerous that would cost Duke Gaston's life.
Though Lady Melissa felt like the duo's relationship had gotten better between each other ever since this partnership with the four of them had started, they had gotten closer and were able to communicate more.
Sometimes those communications would even happen at 1.00 AM in the morning as Lady Melissa was going to try and drink her problems away- but someone would just appear and ruin her night (Lady Melissa was still very much salty about this).
Lady Melissa felt that Duke Gaston and Duke Mason would make a pretty amazing duo, as long as Duke Mason would just ignore the resentment and dislike he had for the other man, though feelings or emotions could never be controlled.
Lady Melissa would know that, considering the situation that she was currently in right now because of a few certain feelings of hers, which she couldn't control, though they weren't her fault.
Lady Melissa took a deep breath, as she could feel that she was going to die because of the lack of oxygen she had because of how tight the corset was- all thanks to Sophia too, who as well as a few other maids were currently helping her prep for Duke Mason's ball.
Lady Melissa had been here ever since 7 AM being given foot and neck, as well as back massages to help her look her absolute best- which she wasn't against of course, since who would even be against such a thing?
Lady Melissa was just a little disappointed that she wasn't so fortunate to get this treatment every single day, since well, she would love a massage or two every single day, though the time she had available would probably not allow it for her to do such a thing.
Lady Melissa was more than ready to shock everyone out during Duke Mason's party, though she had perhaps a slight little problem regarding the party, she hadn't even asked any sort of permission about it from her parents since she hadn't seen them at all for the entire month so far.
In addition to that, Lady Melissa's parents both just happened to be out today, meaning that Lady Melissa had an opportunity- an opportunity to take advantage of that fact and go to Duke Mason's party.
Lady Melissa already had a plan, well sort of, she was going to kindly ask one of the maids to pretend to be her (more like threaten her but they were similar enough in Lady Melissa's eyes) and take her place.
Luckily, today Lady Melissa had nothing scheduled, so she wouldn't need to worry much, besides she had already known which maid to choose in advance from weeks ago, she just hadn't told the maid yet.
The maids that were currently helping Lady Melissa with the preparations to Duke Mason's party had been sworn to secrecy- courtesy to Lady Melissa, and if she had found anybody talking about it, then they were going to be fired.
Eventually, though, Lady Melissa knew that her parents were going to find out about her presence at Duke Mason's party somehow, be it from the gossip or the news articles, she knew that they were going to find out nevertheless.
