Chapter 40：[2] The Concubines

"But.." I started to say but Jandi interrupted me by saying .." Please Lady Nana, I think you should listen to your brother's advice when he told you not to go investigating." Jandi said sounding so worried and scared for me ..maybe she did already know that I will try to go find evidence that i will use to implicate Kyung-sook ..not now though, for now I don't know what to do.

"Uhmm," I sign as I sit down on the edge of my bed then ask Jandi why she was running earlier and what was the Important news she said she wanted to tell me.

"Kyung-sook just brought in three women into the palace." Jandi said which made me raise one eyebrow at her and at the same time asking her why this should be a very important news like she said it is with my eyes but she didn't answer or maybe she did not understand. I sign and then ask her..

"What for?

"For the Emperor to choose which one he'd like to be his concubine and it not only her decision though but the elders too ..also it's tradition, if the Empress is not up to the Emperor's satisfaction then the Emperor will pick as many concubines that he like."

"What, he can't do that!

"He can Her Highness but he'd ask for your permission and as a good wife that you're, you will give it to him."

" You're not serious Jandi and I won't Jandi! I won't give him any permission to.. to sleep around."

"Lady Nana, Nobody wants to share their husband with any woman but you can't stop the Emperor from having a concubine if he wants to. I know I said that he'd have to ask for your permission which he will do ..that's if he's going to be choosing a concubine but just because he asked you doesn't mean that you can turn him down but if you still do turn him down ..he can still have the woman he wants but then the woman won't be referred to as his concubine but just a mistress with no inclination to obtain any royalty ..so that makes her a nobody."

"This is absurd and I'm not going to share my husband with any woman ..be it a concubine or a nobody. No! Anyways, I know the Emperor won't agree to this."

"Why won't he?" Jandi asks making me ask myself the same question but.. But why will Jandi have to rub this on my face by asking me this kind of question that's also absurd.

"Jandi!" I yelled angrily but she doesn't even care that I'm angry or that her questions are making me uncomfortable ..she just keep going and going on with her questions.

"Have you?

"Well have you, you know ..been with him sexualy? Jandi asked really blowing me off with that question as I'm not used to talking about it ..so I guessed that made me yell out a very loud no and besides we haven't actually done it ..yet.

"No!

"Why did you shout the No! As if it's an abomination ..he's your husband Lady Nana and you have to unless you truly don't care if your husband takes an alternative.

"Why are you shouting and why are you angry at me!

"Because, can't you see lady Nana ..this is Kyung-sook and her people's plan ..they want to control the Emperor but they know they can't so they now want to plant their people inside the palace also she's trying to take away the Emperor's attention from you by bringing in those women and if the Emperor ever pick one of those women ..your worst nightmare will begin.
