Chapter 37 – You’d Be Executed If This Was The Old Days (1)
The sky of Paris after the pouring rain was clear and blue. There were not one, but two rainbows in the sky.
Many at Pariser Platz were recording this rare sight with their cell phones.
Dazed, Yu Duo looked around and saw faces upon faces looking up at the sky happily. They all have white skin, tall nose, large eyes, and blonde hair. They looked foreign and were speaking a foreign language too.
She stood there quietly for a while until the rainbows had disappeared and the crowd dissipated before she felt like she had just woken up from a dream while standing among all sorts of individuals.
What did she just say earlier?
Fu Sinian?
Did she really call out his name?
Now that she realized what had just happened, she felt as though someone had pulled a prank on her.
How was it possible that she had called out Fu Sinian’s name?
Has she lost her mind?
Has she lost her mind from the jet lag?
She took a deep breath and patted herself on her forehead, trying to make herself think straight again.
Fu Sinian looked at Yu Duo’s back and followed her each step of the way.
Doves upon doves flew onto the plaza, and one of them landed right next to Yu Duo. It looked up at her and blocked her way.
Doves here didn’t seem to be afraid of people. They let one pet and feed them.
The dove had attracted Yu Duo’s attention, so she squatted down and carefully stroked its white and smooth feathers.
“Yu Duo.”
Yu Duo’s hand paused then, baffled, she looked up, then looked around vigilantly.
A lot of people walked past her but nothing out of the ordinary.
Fu Sinian smiled and said, “I saw the rainbow.”
The confusion in Yu Duo’s eyes deepened.
It seemed she had… heard Fu Sinian’s voice again?
“Fu Sinian?”
Yu Duo stood up slowly and listened carefully to all the sounds around her. She could hear a foreign language, giggling from others on the streets, someone playing the violin from the edge of the plaza, and nothing else that was familiar to her.
Has she misheard?
She had too much anxiety lately and that had caused her to experience auditory hallucinations?
Fu Sinian walked in front of Yu Duo and stood facing her. The two of them were standing so close to each other that Fu Sinian could see the confusion and puzzlement clearly on Yu Duo’s face. He did not say anything else, but just looked at her deeply.
Standing where she was, Yu Duo suddenly have a very odd feeling, a very familiar feeling, but she couldn’t quite put her finger on it.
It was a little cold, and Yu Duo shuddered for no reason. She looked up at the hot, bright sun in the sky and, suddenly, a group of doves all took off at the same time. Her attention was drawn by the doves and she looked up.
“Hi, Miss. How are you doing? I was taking pictures nearby and accidently got you into my picture, but the picture looked great and I would love to keep it, do you mind?”
A pretty French girl standing close by took a few pictures in a row until the doves had left before she turned to Yu Duo, smiling, and showed her the picture that she had taken.
Inside the picture was the group of doves and, inside the rings and rings of light, stood Yu Duo in the middle of the doves. Her back was against the light and looking up in the direction that the dove flew toward.
“Can I have a copy of this picture?”
“Of course!”
The young girl sent the picture to her. Yu Duo looked at the picture for a bit and posted it to her Weibo account, “The Luxurious Life of a Wealthy Wife”.

Yu Duo looked at the Weibo interface on her cellphone. Once refreshed, the number of comments started to go up. She wanted to read some of them just like she used to but her hand paused all of a sudden. All her enthusiasm and energy since she arrived at Paris yesterday seemed to have been disrupted and dissipated by the words “Fu Sinian”.
