Chapter 63 - 63 - A Change In Fate

The paper cranes soared in the sky. After minutes they all went their separate way. One of the cranes flew towards the nearby village of Guikal.

The little girl who helped fold the cranes, sat behind two women and glanced down at the vast world.

She kept peering at the direction of the disappearing figure of Xia Che.

'Young master Xia Che, I will never forget you.' she thought with her hands clenched. She will always remember his life saving grace.

"Little girl, what is your name?" one of the women shouted in the wind.

"My name is Haily," she shouted.

The woman in front of her turned back and nodded. "Oh, you are my family servant's daughter, right?"

With her head down she mumbled, "Yes, young lady,"

"Then you will serve me personally from today," she said with a sneer.

The little girl nodded her head with a downcast look. Her own mother had suffered under this young lady's demands. And she did not want to serve anyone.

But her personal fate made it so that she had to become what her mother was.

She wanted to cry, sob, but she controlled her tears.

She remembered the young master's words. When they were folding he idly chatted with them. And he said, "If fate gives you something that you didn't like, then you have to fight fate to make you own,"

She silently caressed the paper crane under her. "If master can do it, so can i. I will fight my fate to make my own," she whispered.

"What! What did you say?" the young lady in front of her said.

"I don't want to work as a maid. I want to learn to cultivate," she said with her hands clenched.

Young lady humped, "do you think everyone has the qualifications to become a cultivator? Live in your pipe dream little girl," she snickered.

But these discouraging words did not deter her. In turn, it made her even more resolute. She has to become a powerful cultivator and pay back young master Xia Che's life saving grace.

Soon their little crane reached their village. The two young ladies in front got down first and were escorted by their own families.

'So what if they have large families, they too are bound by the fate to marry whoever the family allots them to,' the little girl thought to herself and walked away?

She didn't want to be tied down like that. She wanted to be free.

With a small smile, she darted towards to her small house. It was not far from where they landed, but she had to run through two lanes and alleyways to reach her house.

She reached the final alleyway to her home. As she bolted towards it, an unexpected thing happened. She slammed into someone. The force recoiled her to the ground.

She glanced up at the white clothed lady standing in front of her.

'Oh no, what have I done. She looks like a lady from a big family. She might punish me,' she thought, scrunching her face up in fear.

But what she expected did not happen. The lady softly helped her up and patted the dust away from her already dirty clothes.

"You have to be careful when you rush like that," the lady softly whispered.

Her soothing voice halted her upcoming tears. "sor... sorry. I didn't mean to," she sniffed.

"It's okay," the lady said with a chuckle.

Her huge veiled bamboo hat hid her face completely. But a spring breeze made it flutter.

The little girl Haily was able to see the stunning beauty's face. She gasped.

"You are so pretty," she whispered without realising it.

The lady chuckled and patted her cheeks. "Thank you, and so are you," she said.

Blushing, Haily gazed at her delicate hands. They looked like they were carved out of jade. But what stood out the most was the shimmering blue lotus imprinted on her forearm.

'I have seen this somewhere, but where?' she thought, biting her lips.

While she was deep in her thoughts, the lady patted her head and walked away.

Soon realisation hit her; it was the same imprint she had seen on her Saviour Xia Che's forearm.

She turned back to ask the lady about it. But the lady had already disappeared into the crowd.

"Maybe she is related to that young man," she whispered, glancing at the crowded roadway.

Sighing, she continued on the way to her home. But as she walked away, she saw a shadowy figure hiding near the exit.

Hr heart lurched. 'Am I gonna be kidnapped again?' she thought as her legs lost her strength.

But the perverted man stood still, watching the crowded road.

"Why did that woman run so fast? Shit, I'm too far," he mumbled, glancing at his ring. He then bolted past her and blended into the crowd.

Haily glanced at this and let out a deep breath.

But she didn't know, that the perverted man she saw is the prince of the heavenly realm, Long Ki and the kind woman is the legendary five thousand year old Koi fish, Yukiya.
