Chapter 137 - 137 - Misinformation

Long was in a dilemma. Late night he rushed out of the room, away from his cutely sleeping lover, to find leads about his lover's missing mother. The sun had risen and till it now he didn't find anything.

First, he checked the local magistrate office. A few ramen runners were watching guard for the night. He told him that he was searching for someone who visited some while ago. He even clearly described her clothing style.

But the yamen runners shook their head no. But one of them secretly summoned him close.

"There have been rumours that black market of has been kidnapping few young women near this area. Maybe if you check Juikal, you might find some leads," the yamen runner said.

Long sighed. "We have already checked there. The kidnapping syndicate did kidnap woman, but the one we are searching for was not amongst them," he whispered scratching his head.

The yamen runner nodded. He pulled his long stuffed jacket closer and blew into his hands. The nights were getting colder, and it was harder to stay watch during such cold nights. He rushed over to a small brazier and warmed his hands.

But only after then did he notice that the strange young man was wearing just a cotton shirt and a pair of cotton pants. "Young man, come here. Warm yourself and continue your search," he said.

Long refused. He is a fire-breathing dragon cold climate was not have a big effect on his body. He thanked the kind lad and continued his search.

"Wait!" the yamen runner rushed over he handed him a small yellow paper and whispered, "maybe these people might help,"

Inside the paper it was just written "cloud palace,"

"What is this?" Long whispered back.

"You don't know about them? Wow, young man you probably crawled out from under a rock. These people are famous syndicate. They collect information for a lump sum." The yamen runner explained.

This cloud palace was an ancient organization that had suddenly one day appeared in Suikal. It assisted a lot of people with their tasks. From small to something big as murder, it does the job. Many people from other cities also travel far to hire these specialists.

'Maybe his mother-in-law visited this city to collect information about something,' Long thought. He sharpened his ear and listened carefully. Since he was from heaven's realm, he was quite ignorant about little news in the human realm.

Listening to the information about this cloud palace, it seemed like a good choice to start his search.

"How should I get there?" he whispered with an awkward smile.

After getting the way to the underground syndicate, he happily passed over a few gold coins to the kind man and rushed over.

The organization was hid very well under a small restaurant. In the morning it was a normal restaurant, but at night it became a cloud palace. It remained open from dusk till dawn.

Only a limited number of people got the pass to enter per day. All of them have to stand in line in front of the restaurant and wait for their turn. Everyone was handed a mask before entering. This was in order to protect their identity.

Long took his mark and wore it. It fit snug on his face, making his handsome demure even more eyes catching.

Standing in a line, he sighed. It was the first time he had to wait for something. And...it felt stressful. He anxiously watched all the people in front of him move forward. It was too exhilarating, really. It brought about a tiredness he had never felt before. 'Why is standing in a line this boring?' he thought as he hopped feet to feet.

Soon his turn came. The servant greeted in cordially and took him to a private room. It was an underground room, but many small lamps on the walls illuminated the room well. The small room had a table, and it was separated by a huge translucent curtain in the middle. From the door, he could see the silhouette of a person sitting behind it, calmly sipping tea.

The servant gestured to the table. A small plate of dishes was served. He served fresh tea and slowly backed away from the room, closing it firmly after him.

Long sniffed the drink. Only after which he drank from it. The last experience where he ate moon cakes and got kidnapped was fresh in his mind. It became a habit for him to sniff the food before consumption.

"What can I do for you?" a serene voice whispered.

"I want to find someone," he whispered calmly. He pulled out a small scroll from his sleeve and carefully passed it below the screen.

Previously he found that Xia had painted his mother. When he asked about it, his lover, he did not even let him look at it. He protected it like a treasure. He had borrowed it to search for Yukiya today. And it ended up being very useful today.

The man behind the screen softly chuckled. "Are you sure this painting is what you are searching for?"

"Yes I am. Please hurry I left someone behind. I need to get back soon," Long hurried.

"Young lad, this can be found in the nearby market."

"Really!! Where?" he anxiously whispered.

"Take a right and walk straight for three minutes, you will find what you are looking for," the mysterious syndicate man whispered and carefully returned the small scroll.

Long picked up the scroll and stored it carefully in his ring. "Thank you," he dropped a few gold coins and strode out.

But the man behind the screen chuckled and returned the money. "This is simple information. You don't have to pay for that,"

Long was in a hurry, so he didn't bother taking the gold back. He dashed out of the establishment and followed the route that man had said. If he could find his mother-in-law, he can surprise his lover when wakes up. He cheerfully thought as he flew.

As he reached over, he sniffed a faint fishy smell. Only then did he remember that that annoying woman Felia had explained that Suikal exports fishes and seafood from other places.

"Is my mother-in-law staying in a fishery?" he whispered as he walked around. There were tanks and tanks of fished. There were so many varieties of Koi fishes as well. Many varieties of red crayfishes were sold as well. But none of them was as cute as his lover.

"Even though I have never seen Xia's birth form I know for sure that he would be cute than these creatures," he mumbled. "Poor guys, they might end up becoming sautéed crayfish soon," he said, and he walked past them.

After searching for a long time, he was still not able to find his mother-in-law.

He even asked the vendors about it. But everyone shook their head no. After questioning the fifties guy, Long ground his teeth. According to the people around, there was no sighting of such person nearby.

He knew that he was duped by that cloud palace guy.

A raging golden dragon rushed over to the establishment and broke his way through the crowd. Without any assistance he ran over to the private room and shouted, "you cheater, you lied to me. She was not there,"

This place was testing his patience. He really wanted to rush back to his lover after doing this search, but because of his misguidance he wasted so much time. 'ahhhh I'm gonna miss gazing at my Xia's cute bed head,' He raged in his heart.

Meanwhile, the mysterious man calmly sipped his tea. "Young lad, are you sure you searched well? There are different varieties available,"

"What? What varieties? I have only one mother-in-law," Long said with a glare.

The man spat out his tea. "Mother-in-law? Weren't you searching for a fish? I guided you to the market," he said, wiping his lips.

"What the hell? I am searching for a woman, not a fish," Long sat down and picked up a cup of tea. He needed something to calm himself down. His heart was getting more flustered as time went on.

"Can you show me the painting, again?"

Long handed him the painting and glared at him through the screen.

The man chuckled again and held up the painting. "See, you gave me a picture of a fish. So I guided you to the appropriate place,"

This time it was long's turn to spit out his tea. He took the painting from the man and peered at it. A golden Koi was vividly drawn on it and it was even sighed in the bottom with his lover's name Xia.

Long slapped his forehead. His cute lover had painted his mother's birth form instead of her human one.

"It was my mistake. I am sorry for causing a commotion. I can explain how my mother-in-law looks. Okay. She usually wears white with a bamboo veil hat. Oh and she has a small lotus tattooed on her right wrist,"

But they were not able to find anyone with such description nearby. Sighing, Long gave up on his search there.

His search had hit a dead end.
